1. Good! That's what I wanted to hear! Thanks!
2. I waited a day fo rthe first burn, did the second on the next day, and the third on the next day (today). But, since it's straight parrafin, I wouldn't think I had to wait? I had burned some other things since making them, so I don't think I had candle nose, but maybe I did. I had a tart burning in my son's room across the house, so maybe that wasn't good. I noticed today though, that I actually did smell it more. I had it in my kitchen on the island, and walked around it and smelled it. Just not great HT, but I didn't have to cinge my nose hairs to smell it. I think I just made a bad batch.
3. Okay, so today I picked out my mother's day present for myself from my hubby. LOL. He is going to get me a turkey fryer! :laugh2:I found one on Craigslist for $75.00. It says it has been used three times-but can I buy it used, and clean it up, or should I just wait and buy a new one?
4. Thanks! I will do that next time, I just felt like I was burning the FO into outer space...I mean my house smells GREAT when making, but when burning the candle, I have to stick my face in it to smell anything...
5. So, I made some candles using 4627 and CS's Birds of Paradise. I used 1.7 oz. pp, and I am getting barely any HT. I don't think I mixed the FO at too high of a temp, I mixed FO at 170 and poured at 160-should I pour hotter? Won't the FO burn off at a high temp? I did four testers in 4oz. jelly jars using these wicks: HTP83, Eco 4, Eco 6, and 51z. The one with the best mp (biggest) was the HTP83, so this is the one that I am burning now with no HT. I didn't get a full mp in the two three hour burns I have done, but I think that is okay, and this is the third burn I am doing. Hopefully, this will help get the leftover wax on the sides, but maybe I should wick up? Or does this have something to do with my pour temp. Think I should try some CO?
6. My son LOVES the cake scents, cotton candy and macintosh apple. If there is an FO out there that smells like sour candy tastes, he would be all over that too. Now to go searching... HTH.
7. Wasn't there a song Summer Nights on Grease?
8. So I have heard!!!! I can't wait!
9. I just can't help myself... I keep reading up on soaps and B&B. I am going to have to take the plunge soon. I feel it in my bones. Everytime I shower, or bathe, I am thinking...man I wish I could make this or this or this. Oh crap.
10. Well, there ya go guys! All we have to do now is stick whatever wick we want in a candle and sell the mistakes as wonders....my candles are great because there is a huge mushroom, but please don't blow it too hard or the mushroom will jump straight into your eyeball because when you burn our candles, you don't need your sight anymore! All you need now is a good smeller. It doesn't matter to me if your house burns down, or your bangs get cinged. Cause our candles are awesome! WTF! Seriously?
11. Thanks! The portion cups are tarts with parasoy!
12. I put together some super cute baskets! What do you think?
13. I wish there were enough hours in the day! There are so many things I would LOVE to learn how to do, but unfortunately, I can not even find enough time to do the few things I do now!
14. Looks great! I'm coming over there to get some!
15. Maybe one day I will make a great candle, but for now-I am just sticking to what I can. My pictures are pretty dark...BUT that's okay! You can't do anything overnight. I love new creative challenges. My girlfriend just emailed me today asking if I would like her fiance to do any type of web design stuff, and my pictures! Of course I said absolutely yes!
16. So, the last week has been great for me. I started my Facebook Page, and have added a couple more things to my etsy site. It is definitely not a huge line of much of anything, but-if it can PAY for the hobby, that would be wonderful. As you all know, it is SO EXPENSIVE to make home fragrance items. I would love to learn how to do B&B and I know it is going to take me a LONG time before I am ready to even think about selling candles. I have only been testing candles for a little over a year, but haven't been putting all of my effort into it since it is such a PITA to wick! I have been working on wickless candles, and tarts. That's all for now, but I figured I would have to move some of this stuff because it does cost a lot of money to make, test, etc. and I can't just keep spending so much money. I just can't stop making, and buying. I am a FO JUnkie. Seriously, stick a conveyor belt with diff. FOs on it underneath my nose, and I might go into a comatose state.
17. For me it's anything with baby powder in it. At first, I absolutely LOVED baby powder, but I made a ton of candles a few weeks ago for a friend, while I had a sinus infection- so I felt like I could TASTE it instead of smell it. Now, I can't even stand it. I know a lot of people LOVE this scent, so I will continue making and selling it because as long as I do a few batches, my house won't smell too much like baby powder. Hopefully, I will get over this, because I do remember loving it before I got sick and tasted it.
18. These are good guys! Thank you so much! Y'all are so much better at this than I am! CandyBee-I was totally thinking about ....the lime in da coconut! I have that song in my head now!
19. I am trying to come up with some fun names for these: Love Spell Macintosh Apple Coconut Coconut Lime Verbena
