  3. Hmmm...I would think to maybe add a little butter to the oils to thicken it up a tad? I make a massage OIL but it is basically SAO and soy oil..I also make a fancy one with some rose petals, calendula, herbs, etc emersed in the oil..makes the bottle look oh so pretty
  4. Here is the recipe I am using and my problem seems to be MELTING!!! When I ship, it basically turns to liquid and is no longer whipped and fluffy..Can someone maybe tell me what I am doing wrong? I usually just make the base and then add the sugar as I need it later. 10% ewax 8% stearic 1% cetyl alcohol 64% butters 14% oils 1% preserv. 2% FO And then when it sets up I add sugar as needed and the WHIP like crazy.

  7. I usually use liquid lake dyes, power micas and micas dispersed in glycerin..
  8. but..if I add a touch of cyclo to a body butter that is anhydrous will I need to add a preservative?

  10. And then we have a pretty big etsy selling saying things like " I am for this bill because my stuff is already all natural. I have nothing to worry about, it's all those people that use bases that are worried" give me a break, I wanna freakin' scream at her to get educated. Yet she uses FO but claim they are naturally derived and are coconut oil based :rolleyes2 and people believe this crap and she has a pretty big business going...

  13. Where does everyone else get their shea butter from?
  14. OMG grrrrr....I am going crazy. I have some shea that I got from Columbus foods. It is refined but due to the hot weather when it shipped, it is super grainy! I tempered it to 150 for 20 mins and then cooled it off quickly in the freezer. It is great for a few days but as soon as it even gets a little warm, the grans come back!! I hate it! I was using WSP shea butter and never had to deal with this but I can't afford $9.00 for a pound anymore..Can anyone help? PLEASE?

  18. Thanks CBE. Maybe I will try subing the SAO with the GSO and see how it does
  19. What are some other "dry" oils besides FCO that I could use in my body butter? Right now I basically whip shea with some mango butter, FCO, SAO and some IPM but it is still a little draggy and greasy for my liking. Any help?
  20. Yeah, that teaches you a lot.. Put this powder in with that powder, add "bubbling agent" and some color...
  21. I used cocoa butter, mango butter, shea butter, jojoba oil, ewax, and cetyl alcohol! I put them in my lotion bar tubes. They are a tad softer than a loiton bar though. More like a lip balm. Rub it on wet skin and it melt into a loiton and washes off great but leaves a silky smooth feel on the skin. I can give the exact recipe if anyone is interested!
  22. I tested and tweaked and I finally got THE PERECT bar for me...I am in love..Stick form but turns into creamy lotion on wet skin..yay!
  23. I wanna make some shower lotion bars. Something that is hard like a lotion bar but "melts" onto your skin in the shower and becomes creamy. Do you think Cocoa butter, mango butter, shea butter, jojoba oil, ewax and a preservative would work?
  24. What do you guys use when packaging up bath salts/scrubs? Do you include a scoop or spatula? If so, know where I can purchase some in bulk at a reasonable price?
