  1. Henry, Thank you so much for replying to me. I don't know what could have been the problem with the KySoy 125. I must have been pouring way too hot, and then too cool. I'll try your advice, and again thank you. Sandi
  2. I know, I know, this has been asked many times before, but I can't find it on this board or the old CandleTech board. I decided to play with beeswax/soy blending again, but can't find my notes on pour temps. I know the ratios 3%-4%, but I need help with the temps. The last time I tried this(over a year ago) I was trying to make it work with KySoy 125, but finally figured out that the beeswax didn't like the cottonseed at all. I just bought a case of 415 to mix with the beeswax, but need a little help please. Sandi
  3. I've had that happen a couple of times with my wax (not the same as yours) but it was with heavy oils both times. When I cut back on the oil it went away. HTH
  4. The only thing I can see right off is your pour temp. The recommended pour temp is 150-160*. It really sounds like a big sink hole in the middle of your votive. If you have any left from that pour, why don't you cut one into and see what the middle looks like. I don't think th size zinc you used would be too big. Sandi
  5. I haven't used the Eco, but the 415 is a straight soy with a MP of 121-125*, and the 464 is a soy with a lower MP and also has Universal Soy additive added. If you want to play with blending your own waxes, I would personally recommend the 415 or even 402. HTH Sandi
  6. After talking to Jason at GB, I was advised to try to add 2% USA, because when I did the mix 50/50 I was in essence making the ratio of USA so small that it wasn't doing any good. Adjusting the pour temp has helped a lot, and I have pretty tops and good throw.
  7. Thank you so much for answering me Marilyn. I'll try your pour temp and see what happens. I did figure it would need to be poured lower to make the top smooth, but just started out at the higher temp because of the USA.
  8. If you are using the natural votive/pillar from Ky, you shouldn't need to use stearic acid. It is probably what is causing the cracking. They are sometimes stubborn to remove from the cups and the pins, but you seem to have that licked. Give them a try with no stearic. HTH
  9. I am trying to use up some soy with cottonseed that I have by mixing it with 464 & USA. I mixed them 50/50 and added 2% USA, poured at 130*-135*. They came out just a bit rough on top with a very tiny hole beside the wick. They didn't have a sink hole, but I really would like a better top. Well, after babbling on for so long, my question is, has anyone poured this combo before, and if yes what temp did you pour? I have several cases of this wax that needs some help, and any suggestions would be appreciated. I have used the same wax for many, many years, but have not been getting the results I want lately, so I'm playing with the 464 to see if I can make candles that are more presentable. The combo I tried has a very good throw, so I can't complain there.
