  1. I use CD 8 wicks for my 8oz jelly jar candles. If it's a heavy oil (like something spicy) I wick up to a CD 10. I also use a custom parasoy blend, so that may not work for your application. That wick is way too small. It's not burning the wax all the way to the edge. Candlescience had a good wick size chart that I found useful when I was starting out.

  2. Everyone has given great advice so far and I agree with all of it. You are on the right track with testing, as soy wax is frustrating to get good consistent results in the beginning. Wood wicks, also, can be finicky. I use them in straight paraffin, but that's what my supplier recommended as results in soy were not favorable. Maybe someone here has experience in soy. Essential oils are magnificent things! I use them often in aromatherapy diffusers but not in candles. They are just too cost prohibitive and frankly don't give a good enough throw to be worth it. I know the label appeal of saying your candles are "made with essential oils" is tempting, but it's not really lucrative.

I notice no one mentioned how long it actually takes to make $$ doing this, so I'll ignore that one too. ;)

That would be a good idea....

I personally just a couple of weeks ago decided to see how using a mediuim cube mold would work and poured a bunch of different scents colored and thought about using the window Kraft bags but decided to use my 8 ounce tins instead- I won't make tin candles anymore because of rusting so I filled the tins with a combo of scents and they turned out adorable

I used cinnamon- sugar cookie and vanilla in one so you can use 1 cube of each for a wonderful scent or just use 2 different combos or one

the other one I did was campfire- mistletoe and pops pipe and wow was that a hit combo.....I plan to play more with these but have to catch up my candle stock first

I'd love to see a picture of this, Moonshine.

I was looking through their Fo's and they have some current one from CS too. They also say CS type. Trappeur I didn't see your Pumpkin Pecan waffle :(

Barbara, thats what I noticed too . Maybe TT can shed some light since I believe she's ordered from them before in coops ???

I saw that. Why would they dupe a frag that is still readily available? Curiouser and curiouser.

  5. It very well may catch up to them. It did to a local candle maker near me who used college football logos and NASCAR images. She got sued right out of business and then some. She had been warned multiple times by folks that she was breaking copyright but thought she knew best.

Well that is a good idea KKrazy if I owned a heat gun...ha!

When I pour my candles being that 99% of the time all of them get embeds I pour anywheres from 110 to 149...it doesnt make a difference as the 2'nd pour is going to cover what ever the tops look like.  Never thought of getting a heat gun...maybe I should....

You can pick one up online pretty reasonably. I got mine from Harbor Freight, I believe.

  7. I have quite a few from LoneStar that I adore and that work well for me. Egyptian Sheets is an absolute must for me! Sells like crazy in sprays and candles. It took 4 weeks to cure in my parasoy, though. Which is very unusual, but I'll deal with it for the awesome scent. I also agree with KrisS about their White Nectarine and Pink Coral. Absolutely gorgeous fragrance and it works well in my wax. Others that I use with no problems are Nordic Spa, Cowboy, Mahogany Woods dupe, Twilight Woods dupe, and Sea Petals.
