  1. I miss the old days on Craft server. We had some fun topics to discuss, such as which scent do you hate to pour. I liked to read Trappeur's (Suzanne's) posts. I remember sitting outside one summer night and having a long telephone conversation with her. So many of us wanted to visit her at her cabin.

I found this forum in 2009 when I first started making candles. I  learned a lot from you experienced candle makers. I especially searched for reviews of certain scents.

Belinda and I became friends through this forum and later FB messenger. I got to have lunch with her last January when I visited my brother in Texas. Turned out that in that vast state, she actually lived not far from him.

The many Facebook candle groups just aren't the same as this forum.

Simbi fragrance has a resort collection. I've never ordered from them.

    https://simbifragrance.com/

My granddaughter worked at Disney years ago, and when I made Green Clover & Aloe candles, she said they smelled like the Disney stores.

I get Green Clover & Aloe from The Flaming Candle, and some of the reviews say it smells like Disney. Here's one review:

    Resort fragrance.

I cannot express how fantastic it , from straight off the bottle to the Cold & Hot throw. It reminds me of walking into Disney's Grand Floridian Hotel.

  3. I always use Regional Rate A and B boxes to ship candles. I print my labels through USPS and I've never seen the option for Priority Mail cubic. In fact, I've never heard of it.

I guess I will have to look into Pirate Ship. But I like using USPS, and scheduling a pick up, and the free A and B boxes. I remember when they had Regional Rate C boxes.

  4. A customer wants a Harvest Moon candle, but obviously it's not the season for 'harvest' candles so I want to rename it.

I don't know why it's called Harvest Moon anyway because it's not a typical fall fragrance; no spices at all.

Scent description:  beginning with top notes of fresh pear, blueberries, and pineapple; followed by middle notes of juniper berries and eucalyptus; and well rounded with base notes of spruce, woods, Douglas fir, cedar, and white musk.

    I've come up with

    Midnight Moon

    Blue Moon

    Moon Dust

What do you creative people suggest?

  5. @Belinda, their store was so nice and bright and clean. I could smell the samples, then purchase the 16 oz bottles right then. Plus any other supplies I needed.

I didn't expect it to be like a store, since I had only been to The Candlemaker's Store when their little store was in the big warehouse, and not nearly as nice. They had about 250 samples to smell, plus wicks and some other supplies to buy, but the only 16 oz bottles I could buy right then were some specials. I bought a few when I went because they were so cheap, but they were mostly weak. I did get a couple of good ones through the years.

The worse thing was the samples had no prices on them for 16 oz size and I couldn't buy them right then. Had to go home, look up the prices of the scents I liked, and order online.

Their store has been closed since Covid with no plans to reopen which is just as well. I won't be tempted to buy their underwhelming specials.  :) I did like smelling samples though.

@GailC, I would LOVE to go to their warehouse! They have some great FO's and like you said, I've been disappointed with very few of them and mostly because I didn't like the scent plus they have some you don't always see at other suppliers and the BEST clove I've been able to find anywhere! I'm wondering since WSP took over if they'll be as good?

The last time I ordered from NG at the end of October took longer to ship than previous orders. But they were having a big sale on discontinued fragrances so that may have been why.

I may not be ordering as much from them in the future as their prices have gone up so much.

Certainly a lot of natures garden users according to the poll

Can I ask the candle makers what it is about them that draws you in? Also what fragrance load are you having to use and do get a decent throw and clean burn?

I make soy candles and the amount of FO I use is about 8.5%.

I've bought 98 different fragrances from them through the years, not including samples, and have only been disappointed in a handful of scents, mostly because I personally didn't like the scent.

Their prices are reasonable, although their prices have gone up like everyone else's. I buy at least 5 bottles to get $1.00 off per bottle.

Shipping is also reasonable for me, and I've gotten orders before in just one day.

I've been to their store twice; they're about 4 1/2 hours from me. I was in candlemaker's heaven. :) They have over 1000 fragrances. I was sorry when the store closed due to Covid, but I really don't need to go back since I am overstocked with FO's!

Here I am at my happy place:

  8. @BenderSF, Now I'm really wanting to try Caramel Apple Cheesecake. :)

I love Pumpkin Spice Latte from Flaming Candle. Also from Rustic Escentuals, but I haven't ordered from them in a while.

I had ICS Pumpkin Spice Latte years ago but I don't remember that I was that in love with it.

I was looking at Cinnamon Dolce Latte because I'm wanting a coffee/cinnamon scent.

Now I'm going to have to find your post from January 24 and see what all you liked!

    Thanks for the suggestions.

  9. ICS fell by the wayside as one of my suppliers but I am thinking about ordering from there again.

Definitely want to get Sugar Cookie Dough which I remember was so good!

I have seen posts where people say she has excellent coffee fragrances. Does anyone have recommendations?

Also her apple scents sound good, like Caramel Apple Cheesecake. What Apples do you like from ICS?

    Thanks!

I’m having trouble finding a eco 8 & eco 10 wick that’s long enough for “12” inch mason jars‼️ Please direct me to wear i

    can purchase these items

12 inches tall? Boy, that's a large mason jar. I checked Lonestar, because I needed long wicks once, but their tallest ones are 10 inches. Good luck in your search.

I'm sorry, I know this is an old topic.  But, I was thinking of ordering some apple cinnamon from NG and was wondering if you blended this with anything GailC?  I mainly just pick up singles to blend, so this would be a new one for me...

    Thanks 🙂

No, I didn't blend it with anything. I'm sure there are any number of scents that would blend well with it. I am out of NG Apple Cinnamon so don't remember how it smelled, but it was just a good basic apple cinnamon.

I know this post is old, but have you ever tried Sea Witch from Pure Fragrance Oils? It's one of the scents from the original Moonworks oils. It's different from the usual "rain" scents we get elsewhere. I love it! And it has real staying power too!

I have Sea Witch (MW) from Fragrance Buddy, and it's my favorite ocean scent. Like salty sea air. But I don't think of it as a 'rain' scent.

  13. Another company I just heard about recently is Porter Candle Company. I just checked out a couple of their scents and both were around $30 for 16 oz. I never pay that much for FO so I don't need to add them to my list. :)

From my observation, it seems these new companies are quite expensive. I already have too many suppliers anyway.

  14. @Jcake90, Seems like Toasted Marshmallow from Rustic Escentials has gotten good reviews on this forum. I used to have some and I thought it was good, but I don't remember it having much of a 'toasted' smell. (But it's been a few years since I smelled it.)

A couple of marshmallow scents on Fragrance Buddy's site have good reviews, and they're having a good sale right now. I'm thinking of ordering the Marshmallow Fluff for Hot Chocolate & Marshmallow candles.

I noticed the same thing about CS's Snickerdoodle! I thought it was just me and my nose...LOL
Is their Apple Maple Bourbon the same as CS's? I love CS's so much!

I can't remember exactly but it seems like CS's was a tad better.

I bought some Apple Maple Bourbon from Midwest in a FB destash group and I just compared it to VA's. It is much more apple smelling OOB to me and not much maple, so I like VA's better.

Oh I'll have to add the Spiced Pumpkin Cider to my cart. That sounds right up my alley! Is their Snickerdoodle on the spice side or sweet side? Or balanced? I currently use CW's Snickerdoodle and it's heavy on the spice side.

I don't have any left, but seems like it was heavy on the spice side. Candlescience's is totally different. It actually reminds me of Pumpkin Pecan Waffle although the scent description doesn't mention maple or pecan; instead honey and butter along with cinnamon and vanilla. It is a sweeter scent.

I forgot to mention Apple Maple Bourbon from VA candle. I like it; no spice though. I smell apple and maple.

Forgot to mention that I ordered from VCS just last week and just grabbed a few samples to try. They are new to me. I saw a few bakery and seasonal scents that sounded good. I'm heavily into country primitive scents so I am always looking for those types of scents.

I first ordered from Virginia Candle Supply in Dec 2020. I've been mostly pleased with their FO's. For fall, I like Spiced Pumpkin Cider. My favorite so far though is not a bakery/fall scent, Black Chamomile. It is really unique, nothing like plain Chamomile.

Some of my customers like their Flannel. Snickerdoodle is OK, but I'm in love with CS's Snickerdoodle.
