You're welcome. One thing I forgot to mention, if you use pretabbed wicks, it's easier to pull out of the bottom of the candle if you want to change the wick size. Simply blow out the candle, wait a couple of minutes, then pull the wick out and insert a new wick. Once you know what wick successfully works for your candles, you can use the untabbed method and wick your candle when you pour.

Hello~ I've been struggling for over a week now to come up with a ivory colored unity candle using paraffin wax. I've used IGI 4625, 1343, and 4045 waxes trying liquid ivory(Cajun) and an ivory dye chip (Peaks). When I use one chip pp, it looks like a dark tan. When I used two drops of liquid in 5#'s of 4625 it looked almost brown. I poured 4625 straight no color and it looks closer to an ivory than adding color but has a green tinge to it. The customer is a wedding and event planner and desires a true ivory color. I've made up some palm everlasting pillars for her to view, although she has requested paraffin pillars and tapers in white and ivory unscented. Question 1 What have others used to successfully make an ivory paraffin pillar unity candle (wax type and amount, color type and amount, and any additives)? Question 2 Has anyone successfully made tapers out of palm wax to go along with the unity candle or does the majority use paraffin tapers with palm pillars? If so do you use a metal mold? Don't make the mistake I did and try and pour in a polyurethane mold it was terrible to try and get out. Thank you in advance for your help. I'm meeting with the customer on Monday evening (tomorrow night) and am feeling a lot of pressure to come up with the ivory pillar today. Regards, Ann

I've had success with LX24. You can use this as a starting point. I've wicked up to the LX26, but after a 10 hour marathon test burn, it was too much wick for the candle and nearly burned through the side above the flame. It really depends on the fragrance oil and color you are using, and testing is the only way you will know for sure which wick will be ideal for you. I've only tested in no color and ivory. Good Luck! I too use the presto pots for melting wax. It isn't necessary to have the pouring taps in the pot to start your candlemaking, especially if you're anxious like I was to get started . You can pour the melted wax from the pot into a heated 4-6 cup glass measuring cup then pour into your molds or containers. I remember having a difficult time finding the right sizes when I looked for them also. Good luck to you! Ann

Hi Michi, Were you able to find a 600 series wick to work in the 20 oz apoth jar? I've been testing the 700 series wicks and requested a sample of the 600 series wicks over a month ago and haven't received them yet. I was also wondering if you knew what the basexneck field is for on their order form on the website. When I contacted Joe Blythe (after not recieving a response from the info e-mail address on the website after a month), his response was "The base is the round part on the bottom and the neck is the piece that extend upwards from the base. The measurements are in Millimeters." However when I measured out the 22 OZ apothecary jar that I wanted to order wicks for it is larger than the standard sizes on their web site.When I measure the base it is 9 cm which would convert to 90 Millimeters, the neck measures 7.5 cm which would convert to 75 Millimeters. The largest baseXneck they have for a wick on their site is 38mmX4mm. Am I calculating this correctly for a standard 22 ounce apothecary jar? I don't understand the importance of the baseXneck. Have you ordered wicks yet or are you still using your samples? Thanks, Ann
