  1. I never was a really big fan of votives...never bought one that smelled that great. But I thought I may as well try some. I mixed some 6006 with 4794 and threw in some palm stearic and 1 oz. pp. FO (pumpkin souffle) First try was perfect. Not too hard, not too soft and the CT and HT was out of this world!!!

Used some of the small zinc wicks - burned good but going to try some cotton wicks, just to see which one I prefer. I have never smelled such a strong votive. I premix 2.5 lbs of 4794 (only that much because I can't cut that worth crap) to 1 lb 6006. I let it cool and set up and use what I need. Is it the 4794 or the 6006?

  2. I've had THOUSANDS of customers in my non-related candle business and not once did anyone begrudge me what I've charged. She's sore because I made $20 and she only made $5.98. (little does she know $150.00 a candle wouldn't cover the cost of it at this point - all the money and time spent coming up with a decent candle.) I've seen this crap before with other people. I think the way to go is wholesale or find venues where you sell your items yourself. This consigment biz is for the birds....

  3. Candles on consignment...3 different shops -can't keep up with the ones they need replaced in 2 of them. They take around 20% or so commission...I don't care about what I make on the candles - it's not a business with me. The 3rd location calls today (hasn't been open since I dropped off the candles there for sale. She put her nose up about them anyways.) FIrst customer walks in and buys 2 of them

THe owner gets on the phone and says "Now how is this going to work? If I put these through the register then I have to pay tax on them. I keep $2.99 and you get $10.00 under the table." I replied, " You pay the taxes that you collect from the customer. If you want these candles to sell in your shop, that's what you do." SHe keeps going on and on, I finally asked what she meant income tax or sales tax? She couldn't get it at all. Is there something wrong with me?????

  4. Turned out it was a bad batch of the Sweet Pumpkin Spice. Peaks sent me an email letting me know they were aware of the problem and are sending me a replacement bottle. May want to check your bottles if you've gotten any in the last few weeks. They said they thought they got all of them off the shelves. I burned one of the candles for about 2 minutes and it started popping and making funny noises. I had only used around 4% mixed with the usual scent I mix it with.

  5. I had a lot of visible bubbles in my mix. So, I just let them go and waited for the candles to set up. When they did, there was some frosting on the glass. (soy mix) I heated them up the heat gun (usually more of a disaster) and discovered that the frosting is just a bunch of hardened bubbles. You can heat them until they appear to go away (but they don't) You have to heat them until the bubbles release to the surface of the candle. No more frosting and it didn't come back. This happened with candles I made with Sweet Pumpkin SPice from Peaks that was bubbbly out of the bottle right from the get go. Thought I'd share.
