  1. Well, hubby is on for making the PVC stand, but if it doesn't get done in time (not that that could possibly happen! , I'll try the string/safety pin thing--I've ordered some heavy fabric fitted tablecloths, so hopefully they'll stand up to the weight of the banner. I can't imagine having a banner without grommets--that would be a pain to try to hang!
  2. I'm a CS fan all the way: I also don't care for Pumpkin Souffle, but it's one of my top fall sellers, so I suck it up and keep making it! For Christmas: Cranberry Marmalade--yum! Also Mistletoe (which I want to rename so I don't dupe the Yank-me name...haven't come up with a name I like yet)--everyone loves that one. Apple Jack & Peel, although it has a 2 bean rating, throws very well in 464 for me. Also, Christmas Hearth is probably the favorite of my holiday buyers, as well as my husband. It's pretty yummy.
  3. Thanks for the pics and e-how link--very helpful. I was also looking at the table covers with my logo on them, but with the the problem of people glomming around blocking it, decided not to spend the $$. :smiley2:
  4. Great ideas! My banner has grommets, so in the past we had hung it on the front of the table (with tiny nails sticking through to hang it on....I tried the lovely shipping tape too, but it didn't stay on for long ...) I've had the same experience that no one can see the thing because of all the lookee-loos hanging around blocking it. I definitely like hanging it at the back of our tent, so to get the same effect indoors, looks like I need to send hubby to Lowe's to make a frame--I like the way that looks!
  5. I use CS White Tea also, and it's my number one seller at craft fairs. Yum!
  6. I'm doing more craft fairs this year, and finding lots of variables with the indoor booth set-ups. When we have the tent outdoors, we just attach the banner to it, no problem. But indoors, what are some preferred ways to display your banner (and how does it work best to attach it...to the wall, front of the table over the cloth, etc.)?
  7. Stella, I love the paper towel idea. I'm not having many sinkholes since I put a small space heater in my workroom to keep the temp constant, but every now and then with certain fo's.... I tried the box thing back when I was still making candles in my kitchen, and it was a disaster! I've just draped paper towels over a batch of Pumpkin Souffle, which is one that tends to act up with me more than others. I've been doing the "thumping" ever since I read that from you a year or two ago--it really works. I cool my candles on wire shelves now, so I thump the wax in the pour pot, then I thump each candle before I put it on the rack. My husband can't figure out what I'm doing in there. Thanks, again and as always! Terri
  8. Yep, that makes perfect sense. Since I started cooling my candles on wire shelves, about "so" far from each other, they're pretty happy....still the occasional air pocket around the wick, but I think those happen to keep us humble.
  9. Well, what naked cowboy wouldn't smell terrific? In theory, of course. (BTW, I LOVED that shampoo! Drove the boys crazy.) OK, so far we're still in sexy cowboy territory name-wise....
  10. Yep...there's definitely the leather/tobacco thing going on. I'm loving the suggestions!!
  11. In my experience thus far, vanilla is the culprit in a lot of problems! Unfortunately, it smells yummy and is in lots of great fo's....so we're kinda stuck with it. I had another one (Cedarwood Vanilla again) that had a bright lemony layer on top after getting too warm at a craft fair! Needless to say, I've burned a lot of that fragrance in my house b/c I can't sell the stripey look. Or maybe I can.... ??
  12. Woo! Naked cowboys and sweaty Adonis's....I'm gonna have to put a parental rating on this one!
  13. I just got some in the mail today, and it had leaked a little into the envelope...smelled heavenly when I opened it! It is sweeter than I anticipated, but is pretty dang divine, even if it isn't what I expected. CS has never let me down yet with their "bean" ratings on their fo's, so I expect good things in my GB464! Can't wait to smell it burning....
  14. OK, I'm usually pretty straightforward in naming my fragrances...sometimes I keep the original name, sometimes not, but I try to keep them simple and somewhat descriptive of the scent. This one has me stumped! I LOVE, LOVE it and so does everyone who's smelled it, but I cannot for the life of me come up with a good name that encompasses all the yummy notes in it. My 27 year old daughter took a deep inhale, closed her eyes, and said, "Ahhhhh....just call it "Man." Also had a suggestion for "The Cowboy"....hm, maybe a cowboy after a shower? All you creative people....I'd love some input! Thanks! :smiley2:
  15. Is it like this lovely little thing? This one wasn't even in direct sunlight, but I think it did get a little too warm by being too near a space heater. Maybe. I also had a Lavender Vanilla one (this one is Cedarwood Vanilla...see a pattern?) turn bright yellow in a shop where the owner swears it was never near the window at all.
  16. Maybe due to the lack of air around the wicks? Any time I have sinkholes or any kind of weirdness, it's always around the wick.
  17. I have my site with Fatcow and I LOVE them. They have fantastic support and all kinds of tools you can choose from (I kept mine pretty basic, built it with the Weebly Drag & Drop, but they have a lot of other choices). They were incredibly helpful (and patient) while I was bumbling through creating my site. The hosting goes up to $99 after that special rate, but I just renewed my plan this month because I think they're worth it. They have a definite thumbs-up from me.
  18. Ha! That's what I've heard about "Fierce" (your drooling reaction)! No worries if it doesn't smell the same--I'm not calling it that anyway. Still seems to have a similar effect to the women who smell it, maybe just on a lower level.
  19. I've had more than one person tell me that CS Oakmoss & Amber smells just like "Fierce". Throws great in 464. I've never actually smelled Fierce, but in particular the 20-somethings really notice the similarity!
  20. Just to add another one, CS's Mistletoe throws wonderfully for me in 464. I have one customer who wants it year-round.
  21. Thanks, Stella. I knew I could count on you! Have a great weekend. :smiley2:
  22. OK, I should know this, but what does acceleration refer to? Is that just a soaping term or is it something applying to veggie wax candles also? (I'm asking because I'm using an FO that someone mentioned caused some "acceleration".... Thanks, smart people! :smiley2:
  23. Thanks for the feedback and I'm glad to know I'm not the only one with this crazy issue. I also mix my fo's in very well, both initially and during pouring with larger batches--I can't imagine that causing the problem with just random candles when the others are fine. Maybe that "bottom of the pot" theory is it. ? Here are pics: the first one is the one I just made a week or so ago. That one side is yellow, the rest is fine. The other candles in this scent that I made at the same time are also nice & creamy. This one was at the front of the shelf, and somewhat near a heat source, so I'm wondering if that was the problem? The second picture is a candle I have left from an outdoor fall craft fair that turned very warm--all the candles I had in Cedarwood Vanilla (no other fo's) got these yellow strips at the edge across the top. Both instances involve heat, but not direct sunlight. Hm... Definitely the vanilla-based fo's are the ones that cause grief, but people love them so what are you gonna do? :smiley2:
  24. I don't mind after burning either--this is happening while they're just sitting there on the shelf and haven't been burned yet. I also just heard from one of my wholesale customers that one of the CS Lavender Vanilla candles has also turned yellow....but only one of the six she has on the same shelf in her shop. They're all from the same batch! Why would one turn and not the other? Same with the Cedarwood Vanilla...it happens randomly.
