Top,I have been making candles for three years,and have never figure my %.Someone gave me a chart when I first started.Tell me if I am doing this right.I use the 16 oz apoth jar,with 18 ozs measured,or 14.4 weigh wax,with 8% fo,1.34 ozs.It fills the jar perfect. Thanks Edited to say I wasn't very good in math,in school.

I cannot stress it enough to test ever new fo,wax,and container you get.When I started making candle I listen to the supplier I use here at home telling me what wick to use in a container."WRONG"! Now I would never sell a candle without testing.You will lose sales(ask me how I know).

You know my nose is all confused now it does smell like Almond extract.Who knows,but I still like it.I will wear it to work,and see what kind of comments I get.I go to work everyday with a differant smell,and my coworker says well what are you wearing today.LOL Anna

I got some Oatmeal milk and Honey fo from Starville,I made a body lotion and spray with it.OMG it is wonderful.I ask my DH to smell it on me,and ask him what it smelled like.he said I smelled like a Wild Cherry.What does it suppose to smell like?I don't think I want to smell like a cherry.LOL Anna

Where in La are you located,and what kind of jars are you looking for?There is a supplier in Gladewater,Tx,and Tyler Tx.

Bruce,I first read it that way,you saying it would be foolish to make them.Then I relized(SP)what you were saying.I did a search,(which I should have done first)that some people use dixie cups. Anna

Candleman,why is the flame getting to big with the cd4.I thought cd4 was the smallest in the cd's. Thanks

I have just started making and testing votives.I am testing Pink Sugar fo (1 oz PP)made with 4794.I started out with a cd5,it was to big,so I put a cd4 in another one,and it's to big.I trimed the wick short,but the flame gets too big.Any suggestion(SP)what I should do.Do they make a smaller cd wick than cd4.lol.It is a 2 oz votive in a 2 oz votive holder. I don't heat my jars.That is extra work for nothing. Anna

I use J50,and have no problem with it,I use the 16oz apoth and I use differant size wicks in them.It depends which fo I am using.I use zinc wicks.you just have to test and see which wick works.I use in the range of 44-24 to 51-32.When I get a new fo I make a wickless candle,when it harden,I make a hole,stick a wick in,if not right,jerk it out stick another one in,but I'm sure you know all that. I just read you post where you said your wick was drowning.If that is the case I agree with Trish you need to wick up.

I am testing a 8 oz jj now with J50,and hot apple pie fo.I have a 44-28 in it,and it is burning fine.I use wick stickums,when I used hot glue sometimes my wicks would come loose.Try the 44-20,and see how they burn with this fo.Maybe someone will tune in and give you a answer.Wicking can be so frustrating(SP). I don't understand what you mean when you say the wicks get lost.Explain a little more. Anna

Sorry I didn't explain myself very well.I use J50,It was only 5.6ozs weigh wax,and 7ozs by volume,so 1/2oz is plenty fo,I thought.Tell me if I am wrong.I use 8%.I never have been able to explain myself very good. Anna

I hope I can explain this.I have started to test the 8oz jj,and I did a test burn today,and there's no hot throw.Not much of a cold throw.I was wondering if the scent could have burnt off while making them.I made one at a time,and it is only 7ozs liq wax,I heated the wax to 185,added 1/2 oz fo poured at 155.The wax being so hot with such a little amount of wax,that's why I wondered if the fo burnt off.It is the same wax,fo that I use for my 16oz apoth,and I have a good cold and hot throw. Thanks everyone for your replys.I did call them today,and cancel it because I realized I had ordered the wrong size votive holders,I will tell you who it was,because you couldn't ask for any nicer people to deal with.It was candleandsupplys.They were very nice. Anna

I live in Tx,and the supplier is in the north.I like this supplier,and their fo's.I have suppliers close to me,but they don't have what I wanted. Anna

I hope this is the right place to post this.I place a order with a supplier last night,and they don't let you know how much the shipping is.When I came home from work this afternoon,I went to my paypal account,and the supplier invoice me thru paypal.The shipping was almost half the amount of the total.My total is 50.89,and the shipping is 23.52.I would have called them,but they were closed when I got home.Does this sound like to much for shipping?This is what I ordered:8 ozs fo 8 votive molds 8 wick pins case of 3.5 glass votive holders (36) bag of wicks (100) Can I cancel the paypal payment?Sorry this is so long.
