Never thought of this, but I'm guessing the large soy-making candle companies have also been affected.  Do they test every new batch of soy wax?

I was wondering that myself. After talking to AAK though, I wonder if their waxes are custom formulated and have strict parameters.

  2. I've been using 415 for over 10 years, it's what I started with and I just stuck with it. So far, with my 2017 pallet, I am wicking down 1 size across the board and getting a nice burn and a decent hot throw. Mine get only a 24 hr cure, so I feel that my testers get stronger as they age.

Before I ordered my wax this year, I did talk to a couple of people at AAK, one of them at length. He described the processing to me and they do have what they call a 'wax lab' and I believe they have 2 people that make and test candles there, so, I feel like they are not dismissing us.

Also, I believe I read somewhere that the soy wax was changed because of the FDA's regulations on some fats? Not sure when that would have been.

Same here. But it just doesn't throw anywhere near as well as it should or used to. Have been testing other wick series like Rrd l X and HTP to see if any of those are more forgiving of this new 415.

The CD wicks in this 415 behave strangely. They practically fold over on themselves.

I'll definitely be on the lookout for any strange behavior.

We have at least 4 more days of extreme heat before I can really dive into testing these. It's cooling off nicely at night tho, so it's possible I can get one good burn in the morning.

  4. I have not changed my wicking so far. I am testing an unscented and also burning one from my current wax -the sample one is actually burning a little cooler, but the wicking still stands. And, I am also testing 2 sizes of my most popular scent(CS Apple Harvest) and the throw was just as fantastic as always. It is burning fine so far, as long as I keep the wick trimmed. I had planned to test the sample wax more, but it's been so darn warm here for September. The new wax will be here this week, and I will be happy to report back on that, as well.

Is the toasted almond + cherry a food scent or a Jergans type ? I have some of her cake FO's in my cart as well, Im looking forward to trying the Bday Cake

White Cake - Strawberry cake . Im needing a "mermaid" scent so I think I'll give the Cactus + sea salt a shot. I did notice that the listing says that its been

reforumulated in 3/2017 so not sure if that changes the original scent or its performance ?  Love love the Peach Cobbler - Pink sugar. The Cranberry Orange

Spice will be new to me but Ive heard great reviews on here. I know many rave about the Sugar Cookie Dough but I find it to be weak, but it does smell good.

Thanks for adding some of your favorites :)

I'm not really sure about the Toasted Almond & Cherry, but I would guess it's more like Jergens. The Almond Pastry is really good too, more of a food scent. I have not tried the reformulated Cactus & Sea Salt yet, so I'm interested to see how it compares. It's a good summer scent that moves well for me. I never tried the others you mentioned, except for Cranberry Orange Spice, it's a good seller around the holidays. I love talking fragrances, I probably run 100 at any given time.

  6. I love, love, love ICS and use quite a few of her oils(prob 20+) in 415. Love the Choc Fudge Cake and Wildberry Mousse, but haven't tried the others you mentioned.

Some I could not live without:

    Aloha Pineapple

    Cactus & Sea Salt

    Coffee Bean

    MacIntosh Apple

    Pomegranate

    Toasted Almond & Cherry

    White Cake

A couple of these were Snowtop's, does anyone remember them?

  7. I'm still playing phone tag about the 415. I believe I went to Kelly after Carmen, but was passed(I believe Kelly was on vacation) to someone else who was unaware of any issues except for condensation. This person did say something to the effect that there would be no changes in the wax performance due to any different chemicals/pesticides used on the crops, as those would be resolved in the processing plant. I am now making contact with the guy at the 'wax lab'. Anyone else with issues specific to 415?

  8. Thank you Goldie, for the info.  I don't mind at all that you used my quote. Since then, I have not had a lot of confidence in having a remedy should I have an issue with my wax. And, with buying by the pallet, that is a big investment. I do feel a little better with the new contact info. I am very interested to see how this plays out, I am both eager and afraid to order my wax now... really, can I return/exchange a whole pallet?

  9. I found this thread interesting as I am just about to order a pallet of 415. I have had vary little variation with this wax, except for one batch many years ago, before I was buying full pallets. I contacted someone at GB and was told pretty much I didn't know what I was talking about. One of the things I was told was that it was formulated for a specific melt point and it should always behave as so.  If the new wax behaves badly, I don't know what I will do.
