  1. Hi Sojourner

I have been to candles and supplies twice.  It's about an hour 1/2 north from me.

I would get the wax YOU want....even if that means going somewhere else.

When I get off my butt and get motivated and get some time...I will be putting

a mountain of stuff up for sale in the classified section here.  I have a lot of different

container waxes that I don't want ( I've settled on 4627 for my containers )

I think, but am not sure, that I have half a slab of 6006 downstairs.  If I do, I would be

happy to "give" to you for testing.  I have to drive up to Blue Bell PA in late March for

an appointment with my hand doctor.  Are you near there at all?   I know it's a month out, but

just throwing it out there :)

  2. Oh man...I LOVE my woodfields molds and hope these things last forever now!  At the time I ordered several years ago, I got

a 3 lb slab and a 2 lb double log mold and now I'm so glad I did. His molds are spectacular as are his silicone liners!

It's possible I still have the receipt for these molds somewhere in my books.  If I should find it I will post back if there is a number

    on it.

  3. It's easy to run with it and be flooded with ideas. A suggestion -- write the ideas down. As quickly as they came, they may leave too.

You ain't kidding!  Especially when you start to get up there in age!  I'm starting to forget everything these days!  I'm tired of going

down to the basement and then forgetting what the heck I went down there for!  1 trip down there turns into 2 everytime since I need to go back UPSTAIRS

to remember what the hell I went downstairs to get LOL!

  4. I haven't made any soap since April....just been one of those years for me and I'm running low on soap to use. So low I've had to resort to store soap

    on occasion  *shudder*

Finally got 2 batches tonight.  Going to try to knock out 2 more tomorrow too.

This is Mediterranean Fig from CS and Abalone & Sea from WSP.

I'll post cut pics when I cut it.

  5. Peak, NG and CS all use PURE fragrance oils meant for candles/soap, so you should be OK with any of those.

Sometimes I find very heavy scents have trouble incorporating, so I keep it on the heat in my double boiler as I am stirring it in to help it incorporate better.

I'm thinking though, that if that oil was a body oil, then that is your culprit!

  6. I am going to recommend trying out the htp, zinc or cd wicks.  Some are even having good luck with premier wicks.  I use HTP and have great luck with those.

If you read the description of 4627 on Peaks site...they recommend htp wicks and also that you need to wick up with this wax.

edited, do you mind telling us which oils you are using from Candle Science?  I'm unfamiliar with the other company too.

  10. I guess I'm glad I only ordered a few oils once during one of her sales.  I loved them...just haven't been making much so couldn't justify going back

to reorder.  I'm sorry I ddn't, because I really REALLY wanted to try that raspberry patchouli because it sounded so good!

Hoping someone will carry that? Does anyone else love that? Or am I not missing anything?

  11. It is slower.  I do try to peek on here at least once a day even though I've not made much of anything in a long while.  The last soap I made was the Goddess that I had ordered.  That was back in October/November.  I haven't made a single candle either.  My excuse...I work now and that has kept me busier than  I thought it would...given I do real estate one would think I would not have much business...but I've had a busy winter with complicated deals that took months to settle.  I've been too tired from all that running to do anything more than clean the house and cook dinner lol.  Plus, we have had the winter from hell here in Jersey this year. No motivation to really do anything or even talk if I don't have too LOL :P   And now both my husband and I came down with a stomach flu at the same time this week.  Just lifes everyday bull that has kept me away.

I come here to get inspired and motivated though...so  I won't be leaving anytime soon.

  12. post-10297-139458518866_thumb.jpg

So...I had to try it out...I added way too many pieces of dye...but I did wait until the wax was starting to set up a hair. I was going for a

brown, black and green tie dye look to match my bathroom...so not all that great....but I think would be great in brighter colors.

  13. try these percentages

    lard 55%

    coconut 25%

    soybean 15%

    castor 5%

Your first recipe doesn't look bad at all as far as the numbers go for bar quality. They are within normal limits, even with that much castor. I would continue with it and you will be fine.

  14. I think it's all about timing...I think you should try the crushed chips again...only this time wait until the tart is just about set up and turning opaque. You can't do it when

it is too liquid because it will just blend all together in the hot wax. I have not tried it...it's just what I am envisioning in my head after looking at the pictures on the tutorial.

  15. Here is a link to supplier abbreviations...it is stickied on a forum somewhere...but can't remember which forum now!

    http://www.craftserver.com/forums/showthread.php?111378-Suppliers-and-abbreviations

I think the bath body section has ingredient abbreviations in a thread that is stickied up top???

    found it...

    http://www.craftserver.com/forums/showthread.php?769-Abbreviations-and-INCI-information-for-Soaping-B-amp-B

    Hope this helps you ladies!

OH...and DH is dear hubby...at least that is what I say...although, truth be told...most days it's darn hubby ;)
