Question for you all! Have any of you ever tried coating chuncks of already made CP soap with freshly made soap, so that you end up with chuncks that are one color in the middle and coated a different color on the outside? I would like to achieve this look - and then embed these chuncks in a log of CP. I have seen soap made like this.......but am not sure if the chuncks are rolled in freshly made CP soap or if they are rolled in powdered mica colorant?? Anyone tried this........would love your help! Vanessa

Hi there, I've noticed some of you have pictures posted of your uncut logs of soap at fairs or whatever. Can you leave your soap logs uncut? Will it not be hard to cut the log after a time, because the longer it sits the harder it gets?? Do some of you sell your soap uncut? Thank you much, Vanessa

Hi all, Planning on doing SPRING Fund Raiser in 2010, and wondering about adding Peaks Amish Harvest to the list, just because I love it! Do any of you sell Amish Harvest all year? How well does it sell?? And what do you change the name to for Spring/Summer?? What are some other scents that are winter scents, but sell well all year long?? Thanks in advance for your replies! Scented......am I right in thinking then that you r saying that most people stick the lable directly to the bottom of the votive and then shrink wrap the votive? Is it a problem if the buyer does not remove the warning label b4 lighting up? Thanks, Vanessa

I sell a lot of Yuzu in soap! You may not like the smell of it, but it is popular with many!

Hi all, Question for you. I am making up votive and tea light baskets. Each basket will include a votive or tea light holder. Do I have to put my candle warning labels on each and ever votive/tea light, OR do I put the warning lable just on the votive or tea light holder?? Thanks for all your help....... Vanessa

Hi all, Question for all you soap artists. I have been making soap for a while now and I do the swirling and some other artistic impressions in my homemade soap - LOVE doing this! My question - I am having trouble making many dots & hearts on top of my slab soaps. The soap starts thickening too soon and I need to put a lot of dots on yet. I'm afraid to go too light a trace, because I do not want a BAD batch of soap. Do you all use a special instrument to apply the dots with? I have been using droppers & the soap will start getting thick in the droppers. I do a 40% discount as the soap cures well this way - could this be part of my problem, maybe go with less of a discount? Thanks all, this board is wonderful - Vanessa

Yup, I've used this in 4630. VERY strong fragrance, it way overpowers the room. I would cut back on the fo to less than 1 ounce/pound. Vanessa

Hi all, Just a quick question. I make my candles - and am careful to avoid wet spots by putting containers in oven to heat b4 pouring hot wax in. My wet spots are minimal - happy about that, BUT what happens as my house cools off this winter. Will wet spots come in later with a cool house and as I transfer candles to craft sales in the winter months?? Thanks all for the help, you're great! Vanessa

Thanks Carrie, I did that........and 10% superfat is 122 gms lye. I only used 110 gms. Oh well!!!

Hi all, I just made a 2# soap batch with my 1.7# amount of lye by mistake. The lye is off by 20 grams. I superfat at 5% on soapcalc. Will this batch be ok as is?? Thanks for the replys, Vanessa

For those of you that have used both, what is your impression as to which one throws the best with most FO's? I've used both & am wondering if the 4630 actually throws better, but I hear so many saying they LOOOOVE the 6006, wondered what the rest of you think. Thanks, Vanessa

I have heard a bit of talk about not wraping candles in some plastics because it will allow the smell to soak out. I have a shrink wrap system - will shrink wrap also soak the smell out of candles?? Thanks, Vanessa

Someone else mentioned using cardstock, but the cardstock would soak up a bit of the oil from the wax. I tried both ways, and they both work, you use a whole punch for the wick to go through - you can even go to a stamper store and buy a fun, different whole punch, star, heart, whatever for the wick to go through. But, what worked best for was to have the film rest directly on the glass - was much easier, because I didn't have to have it fit the glass exactly - it could hang over the edges and still look good. The part that would hang over the edge - people can see well and flip over the film for a wiff of the candle. HTH, Vanessa

I Order them through quill, but you can get them at any office supply store(office max). Get the transperancies that are for copiers only, (not printers), because they are alot cheaper! HTH, Vanessa

Hey all, An update on my lids!!!!!! I'm sooo excited. I am using the advise of another candlemaker who said to use Transparency film!!!! This is cool, looks good, professional and works. I just trace the size of the candle opening, cut it out & use a sticker with the words (remove lid before burning), and stick this to one side of the candle. This way the lid can be flipped open for easy sniffing. Loving it! Vanessa
