Hi Jo,
I forgot to mention in my previous post that I hope your cat Snowy is doing great...What a beauty he or she is! I'm the biggest animal lover that you could ever meet.....16 cats...1 dog and 3 horses....Most of my cats have shown up at my door and I've spent so many dollars on spaying and neutering them you can't believe...I used to foster feline leukemia cats and kittens...Not many people do that with that disease as being a very contageous disease...but they too deserve a chance at life however short lived they may be...

Hi Jeana,
Maybe I'm misunderstanding your post....Are you saying that you hope that when poured in the natural state with no coloring your hoping for NOT a natural looking candle but a very dark brownish color? I was wondering why you like a brown color? Do you still name it pink sugar or do you rename it? I was just curious thats all, so please don't take it the wrong way. I'm in no way trying to offend you...Its just neat how we all make our candles...Thats all...
And you say Peaks is a strong scent? Well you should see BCN's Pink Sugar! Talk about blowing you right out of the house! No joke either! I'm not a pink sugar lover at all but I thought I would try it because of the rave reviews everyone gives this scent. I made up a 1/2 dozen of them and have them in my store for the past I guess about 4 weeks and not a one has sold for me.....hmmm....And I colored them a beautiful pink (well, I think it is, lol) and not 1 taker... If anyone ever is dissatisfied with Peaks Pink Sugar I highly recommend BCN! And I use c-3....Here is a picture of how I did them....I wanted a very pale pale pink when I made them but they came out darker than how they showed up on my plate tester, but I really do happen to like the color even better....Being that I'm very rustic, lodgy and adirondacky, I renamed the scent to "Pink Flannel" for me..Being that the scent pink sugar is an extremely feminine girlie type scent I photographed the candles in a soft romantic type setting with a touch of white battenburg and with just a touch of blue flannel denim for the little rustic feel with my mothers picture of which she is no longer here with me today.....

Hi Candlemaker,
I use the c-3 and htp wicks and don't have any sooting. I use the keepsake 24oz jar, flower pot votive, 8oz square mason jar, little jelley jar, 20Oz square mason jar, and 32oz mason jars and do perfectly well with them. The only little quirk is they curl a little but I've learned to deal with it.......And I use 1 wick for all these jars....
I tried the premier in the votives once b/4 and they worked well....

Hi Circle,
Gorgeous, gorgeous candles! Your sure are one talented lady....I really don't know what blisters are, but whatever they are, they look part of the candle....We all are so critical of ourselves...I'm my own worst critic! You did a beautiful job and I love your colorway!

Hi Fire!
Oh, maybe they are...lol Well just in case they aren't, they have flowers on them...lol
Yep, to each their own as far as style goes too..Me, personally, I like the jars that say Ball, or Atlas (vintage). I'm working on a collection for myself to sell in this type look as it caters to the country folks around here..Lot of farmers here! lol I just bought real cheap the vintage blue colored glass jars with the embossements of Atlas, Ball..Just trying to think of what I'm going to put as an embellisment for a tye on them like some pieces of lace or checked fabrics and little tiny floral prints....Just fiddling around...I guess its all in the fun of the candle world...lol

I just came across this post now.....I know it is from 2005 but I'm new hear and just read, read, read!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was just going to try out the cd's because I'm thinking of changing from htp to cd and heard it was a great double scent thrower and it was just such a great wick....Now I read this post and it says it "mushrooms" a lot??????Now I'm getting disgusted....I find the htp to be a great wick and yes it does mushroom at times and you have to clip, clip, clip....so was looking for another type wick...I had heard the cd will smoke a bit, but I think all candles do....but now produces a lot of mushroom? Geesh.....now I feel like I'm back to square 1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Everyone!
Well, I'm thinking of changing my wicks #1......I use the htp and would like to try something that has less of a curl to it....Man is it frustrating all the wicks out there and this person like this and this one likes that and so on and so forth...Dang! why can't there be 1 wick for a particular soy and that be it! Dang! Cd's seem to be a very popular choice for wicks, but then there are other top choices, so who the heck knows? I read a post the other day someone put up who said that the cd does curl also but not as much as the htp....And what she does is "twist" the wick b/4 lighting and it stands upright and just works perfect, so I'm going to try that also....Then someone else said that she went from htp to cd and found the cd to put out double the scent throw, so that is for me! lol.....So I'm trying it........I also use c-3.
If anyone else has suggestion, please let me know.....I'm game for anything....
Toni, little question for you.....Has any oil ever came to the surface of your candle? I think I might play around and try 1.25 just for the heck of it.....

I guess I'll be trying out some new wicks too..
Just did my test run on some jelly jars I've never done.
Did 1 in a 104 and one in a 105
Both had a melt pool in an hour...They were not far off from one another at all....
So now tonight I'm going to try a 93......Thought for sure the 104 would have been the one...They both have been burning really beautiful but l think a little too fast for a melt pool.....So yep like we all say, test, test, test....

Hi Sue Anne!
Thanks for the welcome! This is a really great board...It really is....Am enjoying it....I meant to post to you welcoming you back the other day after your trip you made somewhere, can't remember!lol - But I will!
And definitely try that pumpkin....I absolutely hate to recommend something when you don't know if the other person is or isn't going to like it...I cringe when I recommend....lol I don't think you will be disappointed what so ever! If you are, I'll buy it from you!

Just curious tootie...If the 104 worked really, why did you switch to cdn? What were your pro's and cons? The wick curling on the htp? Also a cdn the same things a cd that everyone talks about?
Trappeur
That last sentence I put I was asking is a cdn and a cd the same wick? Just a typo...

Many times, I test on an open front porch. If it scents up the great outdoors, I think it'll do just fine inside.
Are you serious Stella? lol, lol....I'm not laughing but am laughing.....Dang! Well this is quite a big post so I'll read it all...

Just these past few days I have been testing the jelly jars and this is what works for me...and I use c-3
htp 105 - got a full melt pool in an hour
htp 104 - got a full melt pool in an hour
(these 2 wicks were every so slightly not much off from one another)
htp 93 - got full melt pool in about 2 1/4 - 2 3/4 hours....so I chose this wick......and the flame is real nice.....
And I have no sooting what so ever...
