  1. Thanks everyone for the replies. I do appreciate them. What are EVO dyes? I don't recognize the abrev. Also, where can I get the specs on the 464, so when I test, I'll have some idea when to add color, fragrance, etc. I will let you know how it works out. I do hope that the 464 works for me mainly because of shipping. It is about $5 to $6 cheaper a case than the Ecosoya. (Suppliers are closer to me.) I am hoping that we get our new shop built soon so that I'll have my new candle room. If you didn't already know, we had a Tornado hit our home & outdoor shops back in April. Major damage. But the house is almost thru being repaired. ($34,000 later). Lost both outdoor shops. Oh well, we lived thru it and all is well! It has been a pain not getting to tinker with my candles, but now that the house is finished being repaired inside; I can play! Thanks again! Beverly S
  2. I have been testing the Ecosoya Advanced hoping to switch from the wax that I have been using for the past couple of years (switching due to hard to find). I like the Ecosoya but was wondering about trying this GB 464 wax. I have order 10 pounds to test and was wondering what everyone thought about it versus the Ecosoya Advanced CB. The shipping on the GB 464 is way cheaper for me due to closer suppliers. I am hoping this will be an answer to my "freight poor" wallet. Thanks in advance for any replies. Beverly S.
  3. I agree with Meridith. I think that it bothers us more than the customer. I was recently in a Y---- candle store. Every candle that I looked at had tons of wet spots and looked 3xs worse than my candles. So don't sweat it. Beverly S
  4. Thank you all for the replies! It is very appreciated. Now, I have all sorts of ideas to incorporate! Crafty, thanks so much for sharing the pics! You have an awesome shop. Maybe some day I'll get to visit Canada and I can stop by your shop. Thanks again for sharing everyone, Beverly Tennessee
  5. amieelynne, thanks for the reply. There is no water heater nearby for me to tie into. Yes, it is for cleanup only. You know how it is... I have always dreamed of a room of my own. I about fell out when my hubby told me that he was doing this for me! I sort of know somethings that I definately want. But I knew that other candlemakers with work areas would have ideas also; especially things that they would do differently. Thanks for the reply, Beverly S
  6. Hey guys & gals, Back on April 2nd, we had the misfortune of a tornado doing major damage to our home & destroying 2 farm shops. On the bright side of things, we survived and are in the process of finishing repairs to home. Next week, a contractor is going to start on our new farm shop. My hubby is adding a new room onto his new shop for my candlemaking! It will be approx. a 15 x 20 room. I was wondering if any of you would be willing to share a few tips on what works for you in your own work areas. I am trying to figure out counter space, cabinets, sink, what size water heater, etc. If I had a few tips, I could incorporate them into my own room to help with organization. Thanks in advance! Beverly S
  7. Hi Everyone, I was wondering if anyone would be so kind as to suggest a wax for making soy pillars. I love the rustic look. I am pretty new to pillars. Been wanting to try for a while but I've been a big "chicken"! :embarasse TIA Beverly
  8. I am having to ship some melts that I sold. I was wondering if anyone had any tips on what would be a cute way of packaging these items. I have a country type theme. Also, how should I package these for shipping to keep them safe. Any tips shared would be greatly appreciated. TIA, Beverly
  9. I would say that 85% of the fragrances that I use are from Bitter Creek. They have a big supply to choose from & wonderful customer service! Beverly
  10. I used this wax until it was discontinued. Had noticed on Early American Candle Supplies that Cargill C-1 was being referred to as "formerly S-1". Being curious and praying that this was still my wax. I emailed the Early American and this was their reply: So for those of you that liked the Astorlite S-1 (myself included), I am glad to know this tidbit of information. See ya, Beverly
  11. Thanks for the reply. That is an idea.. I do a final stir right before I pour. But I wonder, on this particular fragrance, if I need to add the fragrance at a higher temperature to ensure that it blends better. It may be a heavier fragrance. Hmmmm I'll give it a try next batch. What do you think? Beverly:grin2:
  12. Henryk, I saw your post regarding the S-1. I emailed the Early American Candle Supply and this was their reply: So for those of you that liked the Astorlite S-1 (myself included), I am glad to know this tidbit of information. See ya, Beverly
  13. Hello everyone! I made a small batch of candles (2 -16 oz. jars). I used Old Christmas Tree fragrance with Cargill C-3 soy wax. Did everything like normal.... And kaboom!!! Look at the candles 3 days later... One is seeping & the other isn't. The candles have been (curing with lids on) sitting together on the same shelf. I thought that this was rather strange being the fact that they were poured from the same batch! I dabbed the top of the candle to get the seepage off of it. I check it the next day and it is still seeping and the other candle hasn't seeped at all. Anyway, I thought that I would share. Just thought that it was really weird. Happy pouring!!! Beverly
  14. Thanks everyone for your input. I appreciate it. I think that I will give the C-3 a try. Every wax that I have ever used has had from time to time a frosting issue (nothing major). So I don't think too much about a little frosting. Thanks again! Beverly
  15. Hi everyone! I was wondering what you guys would suggest as a starting point for wicking a 3" diam. pillar candle made with soy. I have made containers for over a year using the CD wick series. I was wondering if I would have to switch to a different brand of wick because of the soy pillar wax. Any suggestions would be appreciated as always. TIA, Beverly
  16. Hi! I am a newbie to this board, but not to candlemaking. I had the misfortune of having my soy wax discontinued by the Astorlite company. So, now I am back to the drawing board of trying new waxes to decide what I am going to switch to! I was wondering if anyone had tried the Cargill C-3 wax and what did you think about it. Or do you have any suggestions. Any input would be greatly appreciated! TIA, Beverly
