  1. Shower was all bubbly! It actually is really nice.... nice bubbles but you also get that creamy lather too.

I am gonna take all 3 bars in tomorrow and test that way too.

I do know though that the hydrovance does not add bubbly lather like the glycerin does.

    Keep ya all posted

  2. I make a 75s/25p blend for containers but am not thrilled with it in tealights. I have made tealights before all paraffin and though the throw is great, they don't look so hot. I am not a fan of the look of straight paraffin.

My question is.... using a 50/50 blend, where would I start with wicking. In the all paraffin I have used a TL13 or 15. In all soy I have used a TL31 or CD2. I need to order more wicks to test and would appreciate a starting point. I was thinking maybe TL25. Does that sound about right to begin?

    TIA for any help offered!

  3. I was just playing with all 3 bars...

I have come to an unexpected conclusion. I was not thrilled with the hydrovance, glycerin was better....the bar with both is the BEST.

I just had all 3 at the sink. Used the same hand washing method, same temp water, same everything. The bar with both had the best bubbly lather of the 3. I was NOT expecting that.

I am going to take that bar in the shower for a few days and see what I think of it that way.

This has been a very interesting and eye opening experience!!

  4. You are welcome.....

I have my double wicking down to 2 cd6's in my 16oz apothecary jar. I have found i really needed to wick down. I will try 2 5's when I get back to testing it more. It didn't make much sence to me, but someone suggested it (and explained it), so I tried and it worked.

I would try 2 HTP41 or 52's in your 50/50 blend. It seems small, but you are really wicking 2 slightly under 2 inch containers. The 73 might have seemed too small because they didn't have enough oxygen for the size wick so did not burn as hot as they should have.

I think you will be shocked at what you can obtain from the smaller wicks.

    Good Luck

  5. I love my own blend.... it is great and there is a sence of satisfaction from creating it! LOL

It sounds like the mp is getting too hot. Have you checked the temp when it starts falling over? That is strange. Is it getting too deep?

What size container and what size wick are you trying?

I am sorry I can not be more help. You really do have a dilema on your hands.

  6. Since I don't add anything I can't give any solid help... but I would start with what wax do you think is lacking? Are your tops not smooth enough, not creamy enough etc.... if you can determine what wax is the slacker, you might be able to "help it along". LOL

It might also help if you state which soy and which paraffin you are blending. I know when I started I used ecosoya pure.... it did NOT play as nice as 415 does. Hopefully someone can comment on your waxes and help you more.

    Good Luck

  7. Great to see you weathered the storm Stella... I was a bit worried when everyone checked back in but you!

I think I am going to order anyway. I am sure I can sell them in the classies. I was thinking of getting maybe CDN5, 12, 14 & maybe 16.

At the rate things are going I should just be a distributor! LOL I hate to find out what the mark up on stuff is! GGEEZZZZZZ

  8. I e-mailed Jessica today... no go on honoring the quote!

Time to devise a "plan B"!!

HOLY CRUD AGAIN!! Jessica suggested going to GL candle supply to purchase smaller amounts. $75 for 1,000. My Quote was 49.75! GEEZZZZZ I am thinking the 3,000 is a better deal no matter what. Jessica also said there is a price break at the 5,000 mark.

  9. I have used the soap with hydrovance in it for a few days.... wasn't too impressed. This was the first time I added GM so I wasn't sure what too expect. This morning I tried the one with glycerin.... big difference. Way more bubbly lather. I am going to use it a few more days, then go back to the hydrovance, then try the bar with both.

    I will keep you updated.

P.S. I LOVE the GM. It makes my skin so soft and smooth and there is NO need for lotion! I love it!

  10. HOLY CRUD... I was just going to place an order. That just stinks.

Co-op time. Not sure about you, but I was going to order CDN's!! I had no problem getting 1,000 of each... but 3,000. That's a little much!

Who are their "distributors"?? Just candle suppliers who happen to carry a tiny selection?

Great way to start a week! GGRRRRRRR

  11. I agree with going down in size.

I am still testing (got side tracked with a different jar) but have found in my 16oz that 2 CD7's and 2 CD6's are still too big. The 6's were better and they didn't leave a burnt smell but still not right. When I go back to testing these jars I am going to try 2 CD5's. I am using a 75/25 soy/para blend.

I had a lot of help wrapping my mind around the entire wicking "issue"! I was told things that I didn't previously understand (or thought just the opposite) but once I tried them it all made sence.

THANK YOU!! my wicking angel

    Good luck

P.S. the ST with both these wicks has been great.

I know it seems weird... but the larger wick needs more oxygen to burn properly, so it ends up with a weaker flame in these jars .... it can't live!

I always thought bigger wick=bigger flame, but I neglected the fact that oxygen is as important as fuel. Before you try reducing the oil... just give two smaller wicks a try.

My 16oz is the colonial from Fairway glass.

  12. I love the burn time and the creamy but not vasaliney look of soy. I love the scent throw of paraffin. The combination makes a beautiful, frost free, great smelling candle!!

Paraffin, for me, enhances the throw of soy and keeps the frost fairy at bay. For me it isn't about "pleasing" a certain crowd. For me it is making a great smelling, great looking candle that people really remember.

I have no problem calling it a soy blend as it is 75% soy. Just enough paraffin to make the soy behave!!

  13. I purchased both at WSP...

    glycerin is 3.50 for 16oz

hydrovance is 3.95 for the same size bottle

They say hydrovance isn't sticky... so you can use a bit more with out that issue. Hydrovance is a bit thinner, not so syrupy!

I bought the hydrovance just to test it. If I like it I will decide which to keep.

  14. This morning I made up a batch of soap...

    1 lb SFIC shea base

3 T canned goats milk (left concentrated)

    1 tsp CO

    1 tsp grapeseed oil

1 tsp fresh linen FO from NG

I took 1/2 of this batch and added 1/2 tsp glycerin and the other 1/2 I put in 1/2 tsp of hydrovance. I made one bar of each. I had a bit left of each so I mixed it together and made a smaller bar.

I unmolded the bars a bit ago and washed my hands with the mixed bar... it is really nice. I hadn't done anything yet with GM so this is my first experience.

I will post again after I test the 2 different bars to see if the hydrovance and glycerin have the same properties. I am hoping to get a nice bubbly lather from both.

    Have a great day

  16. I have both products and wanted to know if anyone has used the hydrovance (WSP). I know glycerin adds bubbly lather and wondered if hydrovance did the same. I don't have the time right now to test as I am heading out of town and need soap for my trip.

If anyone has any info they would like to share I'd appreciate it.

If not I will test when I return and let you all know.

    TIA

    Danielle
