  1. OK, I will admit my brain is not yet functioning for the day. This might also produce great amusement, but..... why would you want a tealight mold? Am I missing something. From what I saw at candlewic it actually looks like a mold you have to take the wax out of at the end. I have never seen a tealight not in a metal or plastic cup.

I am sure after I hit "post" the light will come on, but for now.... please explain! LOL :laugh2:

  2. Sunday I am going to mix up a batch of soy blend.... Joy wax is only 2% paraffin so I think I will start there.

I am hoping that will really help with HT, taking it from good to great! I know people really liked Joy wax it just was too inconsistent in its performance from batch to batch. I will let you know how it goes. It would be wonderful to find a botanical that would have the same effects as paraffin does on soy, but until then...

  3. Thank you for all the opinions. I was wondering because NG is 10 minutes away from me and thought I might test that wax. Instead I think I am gonna add a bit of paraffin to my CBA. I love the ease of use, but do want to improve on the HT. I get a good HT with scents I have tested... but I want more. I am sooooooo greedy. :laugh2:

I am going to have a bunch of friends test for me, I know I have candle nose bad!

  4. Top... can't take a warning wrong!!

What kind of wax do you use and why? I really don't want a wax that I have to do alot with or add stuff to at this newbie stage. I do want it to be one pour, and look great! Do you have any suggestions? I have 2 places close to me to buy stuff locally so I am willing to experiment. Natures Garden is right down the street and Wholesale Supplies Plus is also close. I saw a post that implied a lot of people do not like WSP. Do you know why?

Thanks for all the input, it really is appreciated!!

  5. have you always added FO at a lower temp? Do you feel you get good-great hot throw that way. I am willing to test anything. I read so much about the scent not "bonding" with the wax if it wasn't hot enough. I am going to try it because I think you might burn a bit off at higher temps... I don't know enough yet but am willing to play a lot!!

Thank You so much for all the info.

  6. another question.... at what temp do you add your FO. I usually heat to 175 then add fo and color then cool to 125 to pour. I have read others add at cooler temps. I am wondering what has a better throw if it makes a difference. With all the reading you end up getting conflicting answers.

Thanks for all your postings... they have helped me alot! :yay:

  7. I love mushrooms.... raw, cooked even Russian Mushroom soup!! :D

Non-edible mushrooms I can NOT stand.

I know shrooms are talked about alot, I have been reading for days. I would like to know specifically about Ecosoya CBA. I have tested LX and HTP. I have ECO's, CDN's and Premiers on the way.

I have 3.5 inch apothecary jars, 1oz pp FO, very light color and no color. I am testing eggnog and vanilla/mint. Can someone help quide me in a more mushroom free direction. I tried HTP105, great for shrooms, but didn't get a good mp. Too much left on the edges. I have so much info in my brain about wicks it is all mixing together.

Also who has tried CBA and switched to a different wax and why, with what results. I am not married to this wax so switching is an option....though it looks great.

TIA for all your time and help!!

  8. I use CB advanced... I have found conflicting info.... the NGI site says to add the FO at your pouring temp... I have also found other places say to add it at a higher temp to assure good adhesion. I melt to 175 and color and FO then cool to 125 to pour. With the colder weather I have also warmed my jars in the oven and got a much nicer look. No wet spots.

I am a newbie so I don't have much experience but have read tons on the stuff... the standard seems to be add FO at a warmer temp.

Also I use 1oz / lb of FO. That % has a great cold throw for me, right now I am still playing with wicks to get a great hot throw.

  9. I need a bit more help. I rewicked and burned a 3.5 inch jar using ecosoya cb advanced & htp1212. I got a perfect burn pool in 1 hour. Obviously too quickly also with serious mushrooming. I went to the candle science web site and they recommend LX26 for a 3.5 - 4 container. For a 3 - 3.5 container they recomend LX 22... can anyone explain the jump.. why not go down to a LX24?? There site is very specific to the type of wax and container size.

    Any help would be appreciated:rolleyes2

  10. Thank you for the replies.... I went to a local spot today, Natures Garden and bought some HTP1212 's and wicked 2 different scents. I will test them tomorrow. I did light a vanilla mint with the original wick tonight and even though the flame is small the hot throw is pretty good. I moved it into a bathroom. When you get anywhere near the door you can really smell it. I think I have so many scents in the house that I am neutral to most. I am still not happy with the C-80 wicks but I am getting happier with the scent throw. The right wick will really blast the scent out.:P

Life is crazy busy right now but I will try to remember to post how the htp1212's worked.

    Thanks again for the help.

  11. Hello to all, I love this site. Great info.

I am using Ecosoya CB advanced... I have made a few candles. Cold throw is great. All is good except the hot throw... it is barely there.

I am using c-80 wicks (peaks) in a 3.5 inch jar. It was suggested that it might be over wicked, but I don't have a large flame and the lighter (color) candle isn't melting well, the red one is melting much better... almost like it is under wicked. Can anyone give suggestions on my hot throw issue??

OH I add FO at 175 and pour at 125

    Thank You
