  1. ooooooooooh Sweet Orange Chili Pepper sounds divine!!!! Please tell me where it is from! lol I may have to sample that up for me!
  2. They look great, especially considering you are a newbie I really like the sea salt one with the salt on top! Great presentation! I bet I'd love that fo, wanna send me a sniff thru the monitor? It looks like the lavender you did an in the mold swirl on? To get those swirls deeper pour your soap into the molds thinner, it does not have to be at a heavy trace, just blended and pour your again thin colored soap higher from the mold, This will allow it to penetrate deeper into the soap
  3. Hey Toni I used to make those for a jar candle ironically but not as a tart. All you do is whip the wax and when it starts to get whippy, keep whipping! Eventually it turns to crumbles. When I did lots of these I used to use a small bucket (because it is MESSY! lol) and a hand mixer to do them. You can do them by hand with a wire whisk but you are going to give yourself one sore arm. heehee If you do decide to sell them, I'd strongly suggest limiting the amount of scents you sell them in and making them up a few 3-5 lbs at a time and storing them. Oops! Forgot to add that I've made them from IGI 4794, 1239, 1343, 4625 and 1284 and liked my results best with the IGI 4794
  4. I think the easiest way is to use a stainless mixing bowl and a few pounds of wax. Let the wax cool to where it gets a skim on the top then use an electric hand mixer to whip it. Over whipped wax crumbles itself. However this is NOT clean to make, expect a mess
  5. The first time I smelled the candle in this I was at a local shop and bought one! lol I paid $29 for that candle! This is a dead ringer dupe if I've ever smelled one. I keep trying to push the bar thru the monitor for you to sniff but for some reason the screen keeps blocking it. LOL Must be the LCD monitor is too thin to accept it? I still think we need scratch and sniff monitors. heehee
  6. Oh Scented, it is amazing! lol Here is the description: Smoked Cedar Wood, Bergamot, and Amber blend perfectly to invoke the ancient mysteries of the Druids! My husband who NEVER comments about anything I make (I think he is just too used to the constant stench of FO and EO in our house. LOL) took my end piece as I was cutting and walked to the sink to test it out. Ya know it has to be a winner when the hubby even checks it out. LOL
  7. I realized today I have never posted pics of any of my goodies over here. Thanks to the great ladies on this board I have my black oxide and titanium dioxide. Here is what I made with it. It is a CP scented in Bitter Creek North's Archipelago Stonehenge type, it is soooooooo delish!!
  8. I did end up ordering from Oregon Trails but have bookmarked and checked out all the other sites you ladies mentioned too. This soaping is as much an addiction as candles...um more! lol I've been making CP for me for about 8 years and have been selling in the past three. It's amazing all the FUN stuff I can still come up with and find for soap. I'd never needed black but I am going to try soaping Stonehenge and wanted it gray with black and white swirls...can't do that without a black oxide Thanks for the help! It was very much appreciated
  9. I was not fond of the lotion bars in the shower, kind of like having too many bars of soap in there. heehee (aren't all soapers guilty of that?) I've tried the lush ones...just was not a fan. I actually make a shea sugar scrub. I blend 60% shea with 40% RBO or Fractionated coconut, if my skin is really feeling dry I sub 10% of the RBO or FCO for Jojoba. I use a super blend of equal parts by weight of sugar in the raw, white granular and brown sugar. Add that to a paste and use liquipar optima and vitamin e. It works GREAT as to exfoliate the skin and moisturize it Plus it stays IN a jar Oh I whip this too.
  10. I got this last time thru another soaper and am flat out and needing it. Who has both TD prefer water soluble but oil soluble will do. If they also sell other colorants or mica's for CP I am wanting to test some new ones too! Need black badddddd! lol Any suggestions on a supplier that has great CS and great prices?
  11. I wash all my jars in the dishwasher before wicking them and dry on the heat cycle with rinse aid. Yep, I am OCD with fingerprints too. I wick my jars using an Ez Wick Setter and I wipe the outsides after they are done before they are labeled using industrial window cleaner on paper towel. I could not work in gloves if ya paid me to. I don't even wear them when I make CP soap.
  12. They are beautiful! I still think rustic pillars are my favorite thing to make So where in Iceland are you? I was there in the fall of 2000 and fell in LOVE! I opted for an extended 2 day layover on my way to Sweden and wished I had made it a week! lol
  13. Even UPS/FedEx sell lists I actually talked to the jar store. They purchased the lists from marketing companies. If you ever used that address and it was used by a shipper they had it. Most of the time however it is a credit card company that gives up the info. If you used a CC and even had it shipped to that addy...it could be how. Believe me I know it stinks. I try and keep the info they had to myself. I never give my addy to anyone and my bills are not in that name so I was baffled! lol
  14. Anytime! I just hate to see a fellow crafter HONESTLY trying to earn a few bucks in these shoes My email is jen4_02@yahoo.com I will be leaving shortly but can look it over tonite and email ya back.
  15. sadly a C&D can be sent via email and it is legal. I think it is rude and tacky but it is still a legal form of correspondence. I would personally call my attorney, then email them back and tell them they can contact my attorney with any future questions regarding my company. Don't stress it though, I've gotten a C&D one time...the funny part is they wanted me to change something on my website I had not had in two years. LOL I had a soy lotion name they thought was a tm infringement. It was a totally different name which I thought was amusing. I just told them nicely to bite me.
  16. I feel for ya. I honestly don't think they have much a leg to stand on. Your name is original and you can also show how you came up with it. They can cease and desist you, however they cannot demand your supply sources etc. Now this is my honest and personal opinion. I would not change a thing and I would politely respond to the email stating that you will not be changing your name. You did not copy their name and sorry, but if you choose to continue this battle see ya in court...of course with more tact than that. LOL They do however own a legal trademark on their name. If they do choose to pursue it in court, the legal bills and travel expenses could kill you financially. That is the bummer part of it. But you are ZAJA Naturals. They are Ziaja Mark. That is not even close IMHO. Now on the other hand, I owned the tm Lake Superior Scents, Candles & More., a local chose to call their candle business Lake Superior Candles. I did fight them and I won...so I won't say it can't happen. But those names are far closer than yours and theirs. I honestly would call a patent/trade attorney in FL and see what they have to say. Since I am not a lawyer I really cannot give legal advice but I can give heart to heart advice which I have here is a copy of the TESS info on their trademark. 17. Ok, I got some info on how this works. If you use your credit card at say a Michaels, a candle supplier etc. the credit card company itself assigns what is called an SIC code. It is a government code that would be assigned for a specific industry. In this case it would be assigned as a craft code. Then from there the credit card companies compile lists of these target customers with names and addresses and sell them to marketing firms. From there anyone with the money to purchase them and the know how of where to find them can buy a list of names of people that would perhaps be interested in their products. Which is how my name ended up on this list. It kinda irks me that they do this but honestly not much we can do. However it explains how some of us who never use the CC or name/addy elsewhere got on the lists. Thank your beloved credit card company. They are the reasons we are on lists such as this. Gives ya a real warm n fuzzy feelin' doesn't it? NOT! The lists DO NOT come from other suppliers. Plain and simple folks, why would any supplier sell a list to a competitor to make money? That makes no sense at all, they would be cutting their own throats. Just thought I would explain what I found out so that we are not accusing the wrong persons for "selling" something that was never sold. If you want to be mad at anyone be raging angry at your very own credit card company. I certainly am.
  18. Ok. that is my input. Since I work for BC and make candles keep that in mind. I've tested quite a lot of the fo's they carry and most new ones in the past 5 years I have tested originally. But I don't want to decieve anyone since I do work there these are my personal opinions based on the candles I make and sell.
  19. Since that is my recipe maybe I can help I've never had soy turn grainy BUT I have had shea do it. Was it maybe the shea that caused it? Shea is one beastly picky little butter with temps. I find when I use it in recipes I like to heat it and SLOW cool it before adding it to my other melted oils at closer to a congealing point then blending. As long as I do that I don't have a problem. I do have to say that recipe is super easy though and with more beeswax it is harder and with less it is more squishy. LOL Let me know if you have any questions on that recipe. I have used other oils and butters in it as well ETA: Omit the castor and add in a heavier oil like avocado etc to give it less gloss. The castor makes this one pretty glossy looking.
  20. Are they melt and pour or Cold Process Soap? If they are CP you cannot get anything from the FDA as they do not govern them. Regardless I have never heard of this at all. And I am certain to get certification would cost an arm and a leg!
  21. All waxes can require a cure time. it is really just depends on the fo more than anything. Glad you are not having seepage issues. I personally never exceed 1 oz per lb or I won't use the scent. I just feel it is a waste of supply money.
  22. Here is what I meant by the inventor being debatable NGI was incorporated in 1999 but actually began development and research into EcoSoya™ waxes in 1992. When introduced to the public in 1999, EcoSoya™ received the prestigious Lois Tellefson Award for the development of new techniques and innovations in candle making, given by the International Guild of Candle Artisans. In 2000 NGI aligned with one of the world's largest soybean handlers and processors to supply the industry with the highest quality, most stable and reliable products available today. With unparalleled ongoing Technical and R&D support, we offer you over 50 years combined candle expertise. http://ngiwax.com/AboutNGI/History.php from that page copied and pasted. Michael Richards claimed to have invented soy a year later. I was really not trying to stir your pot Natty Cat just offering my advice and knowledge. I Just have worked on the inside of the industry for a long time and actually had these debates personally with some of those that claim things and others who prove them otherwise. Have a good night!
  23. Don't feel left out. LOL If you want the code for the 10% off email me. jen4_02@yahoo.com I'd be glad to give ya mine. Goodness knows I will never use it. heehee
  24. I got the same thing from The Jar Store and the ONLY two suppliers I have purchased from in ages are BC (obviously! lol) and Candle Cocoon. I know Lyshel has far more integrity than to sell my name. I don't have any credit cards and my name was listed as Jennifer A. Young. ALL my info is under my previous name, Wentz including my banking etc. My insurance that is in my name is not at all associated with my business. My business name is in my partners name and my previous name, ugh! lol I find this very interesting. How would a marketing company have gotten my info? The only bill I have in MY name is my lease...not even my phone number is in my name. The things that make you go hmmmmmmm! I know Rich and Doneen would never sell our info either, I work for them so do know that much. But geez. A few months back someone else called me for jars, not the jar store though. I work for a supplier people, 70 miles from my front door. Why on earth would I pay MORE and pay for shipping too? lol
  25. Actually top, we are both right. Because most people cannot comprehend the adding to create a pound like you were the typical and standard in the supply industry is to add an oz of fo TO a pound of wax, not add fo to create a pound such as you've done. So to add an oz to a pound if you take 16 oz x .0625 = 1 oz. That would add an oz of scent to a pound of wax. The way you explained it makes it a pound...I know how to do that also however find it much more confusing to people to do.
