  1. I haven't jumped into B&B yet, but from what I hear, it is suggested to use either filtered water or bottled water. It is super cheap at the super market, usually only around $.30 a gallon if you fill the bottle yourself.
  2. I have about 30 burning at the moment. We have all electric heat, so to make up for some of the electric bill, we always have candles going.
  3. The hubby and I are going to attempt our first real batch this week, but I wanted to throw out a question to everyone. I made a few candles earlier this week, and have boughten many like this before.... non-repoured. I personally like the sunk in effect of the candles, especially votives... but is there really any difference with repouring your candles, other than spending more time, money, and energy? With votives, I don't see much difference between the two. What are your opinions?
  4. Just make sure that your items are packed tightly in the basket... use some decorative eco-friendly packing material, like moss, oasis, or something like that to fill the baskets, then either wrap the basket in cello, or something like that... you should be fine.
  5. Most places that ship gift baskets (ie. Harry & David, so on), use pre-made form or plastic basket inserts that hold the items in place. They also sometimes use a dab of hot glue for smaller times like bags of candy or lil jelly jars.
  6. I decided to cut down to 2 sizes in each jar category.
  7. "The dollar fell below 100 yen during Asian trading Thursday, its weakest level against the Japanese currency in 12 years. The dollar also dropped to all-time lows against the euro." - AP We borrow millions from them, to buy their cheap, toxic products... which makes us poor. It's a vicious cycle!
  8. LOL.... I was almost clapping when I was reading this... but it turned into a "YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYOHHHHHNO" Down the drain, or in the garden.... it still makes its way to the river. There was a major break in the system not too long ago... a river watchers group sued "China-Mart" because of their lawn products being housed in their parking lots. They weren't pouring toxins down their drains, but worse off, when it rained, their lawn chemicals & fertilizers where getting washed into the run off. "China-Mart" has since pulled all of their products into the stores (at least in most cities). So take them to the recycling centers.... they are trained in what to do with them. While you are at it, I'm sure you all have 87958739853 bottles of cleaners, oils, paints, and who knows what else laying around in the garage.... they'll take them off your hands too! GO GREEN!
  9. "Residues of birth control pills, antidepressants, painkillers, shampoos and a host of other compounds are finding their way into the nation’s waterways, and they have public health and environmental officials in a regulatory quandary." - NY TIMES For those of you who suggested using F/O's to kill weeds.... wow... I'm really shocked. There are tons of eco-friendly alternatives, that won't enter the water supply. Using F/O's in such a manner is no different than doing your cars oil change right over a sewer grate.
  10. Most municipalities have recycle days were you can take oils and so forth. Usually free, but no more than a buck or so.
  11. I never do anything small scale... haha... and sometimes its my downfall. Sometimes variety is good... other times it kills me. For instance, my hubby is really into body jewelry. We started up a jewelry company, and stocked well over $25,000 in inventory. Unfortunately, we still have around $24,000 in inventory left. :undecided I am going to start small with what I have, but am hoping to expand quite quickly.... so when that time comes, I want to have all my ducks in a row! :tiptoe:
  12. I'm only an hr. away or so from downtown. I checked their site out, and they have a decent variety. I added them to my supplier list. Thanks
  13. THANK YOU! This is exactly what I was looking for! Somewhere somewhat nearby that has everything!
  14. They have some of what I am looking for... but they don't have the various sizes I am looking for.
  15. They are right next to the Yaley's... but A LOT cheaper... I think the Yaley's are like $5.00 an ounce?
  16. All depends on whats involved. If it's just plain text, I wouldn't charge more than $50-75.00. If it has more graphic influence, then I'd say near $1-150.
  17. Their prices aren't too bad at all... as long as you order a large qty., for shipping. If you just get one case of an item... you are looking around the same price for shipping as for the jars themselves. Thats what worries me the most.
  18. I looked at them, and might go with them for the "designer" style jars. But as for the classic style, I don't see them having them.
  19. Hex Glass Jar Candles 1.5 oz, 3 oz, 6 oz, 9 oz Victorian Glass Jar Candles 4 oz, 6 oz, 10 oz Classic Glass Jar Candles 4 oz, 6 oz, 10 oz, 16 oz Tureen Glass Jar Candles 3 oz, 6 oz, 8 oz, 10 oz I looked at Candle Science, The Jar Store, and a few others... I just priced like 2 equal cases from each store to get an average cost.
