1. Hi everyone I am looking for a place where I can buy tart floater molds by the hundreds and mini pouring pots.. at wholesale prices trying to cut out the middle man.. any clues who make these items or where any of the big candle companies get these supplies?.. I have been buying them for .29 a mold and 5.00 per pot..but am very angry with this person right now .. that claims I recieved a hundred missing molds which I did not.. so now I guess I am out of that money.. offers no replacement.. his shipping box was pretty messed up and tore and retaped by ups so my guess is they got lost in the shipping process and he is not willing to file a claim.. any help ? Thanks Kat
2. That is the same thing that I have been coming up with.. maybe someone will give up the secret... Thanks Cathy
3. I have been searching and searching where can I get a bunch of pouring pots for re-sell.. at a reasonable price.. I seen them selling for 8.99-15.99 for just one...I am looking for wholesale pricing .. any help? Thanks so much Cathy
4. Well let us know how that works for you.. the only one I had work so far was Storm watch.. and that was with 1.1 ounce.. it was meant only for an ounce but I went over by accident.. the others the flames almost went out on thier own.. someone just suggested to me to try mixing in the 115 with it.. have not tried that mix yet..but I believe that would be a softer wax also.. I do not have any of it .. but plan on ordering some.. now today I am going to try with a 1212 wick .. I do not have the 1312.. I just did not want to go with an Http wick and have been trying to avoid it.. Don't worry we will figure it out:D Cathy
5. No smoking at all with crisco... crisco is actully hydrogenated soy .. it just has less emulsifier in it.. which keeps it softer.. then 100% soy wax.. so far with 1.1 ounces of crisco per pound I am hitting the edges of my jars.. 12 ounce victorian.. some fragrances will work without crisco .. but others I have had a hard time with.. funny though the 1.5 is not coming close and nether is the .7 or .9........ I have to change jars at the moment .. because my supplier is unable to get mine anymore.. and after all these years.. it is back to testing different jars till I find one that I like.... Grrrrrrrr.. seems like the testing never ends...... and almost puts a stop to your candle making...:undecided Cathy
6. Just a suggestion.. try adding some crisco to your wax ! I would start out from 9-10%.. this lowers your melting point in your wax thus giving it a better burn which might actually give you a full melt pool.. This was a suggestion that was given to me at a soy wax meeting from Golden foods.. and belive me I am testing some jars tonight that I could not get a complete melt pool with.. so far it is working..... Cathy
7. Thanks everyone I will be looking around then..at the craft stores.. Cathy
8. okay for about 2 month's I have been looking at shoppingcarts.. I am getting so frustrated with themm.. my main Items are with Gift certificates and real time ups.. Can anyone suggest a good one? TIA Cathy
9. Hi I was wondering what type of packages that everyone uses with thier gift baskets and any idea where to purchase them! I would be doing for Bath and Body.. I have searched for boxes both round and Oval... plain popcorn containers, tins, hat boxes.. with not really any results..for anyone doing them please help.. TIA Cathy
10. Hello everyone.. I have been over on the soy candle board for 2 years now.. and I really want to make or play with the hurricanes.. Now I have read all the tips on the techniques & ideas board.. but any one who makes them my question is.. what size mold / sleeve do you use.. where do I buy them from.. and how the heck do you get your arrangements to stay in place before and after you pour the wax??? I have seen some beautiful pics in the gallerys of people who make them..and I am just stumped about how the get all that detail to stay in one place in the mold with out it sinking to the bottom before you even pour there wax????.. thanks for any help..
11. 60-44-18C work great with the 9oz hex jars.. HTH
12. well with respect also.... I have only made a few of them myself... and have only tested a couple..which did do there job.. in the bathroom.. as far as bigger rooms I have not tested them.. I know with the store bought ones that I have purchased over many, many, years that they DID not scent up a whole room for me.. but then we are talking machine manufactured not quailty.. so that was my way of thinking at that point.. I did not mean to upset anyone with the comment about the larger rooms.. but I will package mine in 4's.. and I am sure handpoured votives are 100% better then anything you buy ..that is not.. Have a great day:cheesy2:
13. I let mine sit from 24-48 hours.. and they sure can fill up a whole room with fragrance as soon as they melt.. hth Cathy
14. another wicking question.. if you make them with 100% soy what wick is clearing your tin? I have had these for about a year and would like to get these wicked up properly.. so far if I remember correctly.. an htp 104 and 105 did not give me a full melt pool..an Lx 28 did not either..you would think it would of..lot of hang up.. just tried that one the other day ..with key lime pie. a grape and a spearmint..also a 51c did not clear either.. any help is appreciated and hoping I happen to have any suggested wicks.. TIA Cathy
15. I always myself lite up 2 or 3 sometimes 4 of them at the same time...that was before I started to make them.. which has only been about a week now..and so far only tested one at a time in a bathroom .. which is not a huge room.. but it did it's job.. You could always tell customers that one alone is not intended to fill a huge room with fragrance .. that it will take several.. so I was planning on packaging mine with 4 votive's with one tight fitting votive cup combo.. Good luck.. Cathy
16. I know what you mean about having every wick out there.. geez I have a huge assortment of them.. and I am always thinking.. someday I will use them all..LOL .. You would of thought I would of learned a long time ago.. to quit switching jars.. but I see so many cool looking ones..I just got to have..and as stubborn as I get somehow in the back of my brain.. I have that (..ohhh I can make that one work.)... someone needs to slap me.. the second burn went well.. but defiantly cannot use this jar for some of my goodies in my fo's..for instance the vanilla sandlewood..ahhh...so guess these will die out for me..and already looking at another new jar..... Cathy
17. The mushroom' started to appear in the 3rd hour not so bad though..only on the baked apple pie and the Twigs and berries.... I know I can only use these jars for lighter scents..any cinnimons or vanilla's I will not use at all.. I just relit again for a second burn.. a minute or so ago.. I will not quit till I see the jar cleaned at least halfway down..not all in one test.. this jar has been such a pain to me.. good thing I only ordered 6 cases of these..I just now placed an order for 24 cases of my regular jars...and I am looking into the samples of those ultra cores .. just in case I can find a decent one that may work alot better with this jar.. You live! You spend! You learn! ain't that the truth... Cathy
18. Thanks Henry I am going there now to check them out! Cathy
19. first 4 hours exactly each melt pool there is a slight difference in depth... the second is a close up of 2 of them ..the green apple is getting into corners at this time and the other Mac apple is just not there yet .. tell me what you think.. this is important to me..these are all 1.5 ounce of fo and the white one there is no dye in it... Cathy
20. I am testing 4 of them right now.. and if it works out I will post a pic... so far so good ..well at least the flame looks nice.... I will post first second and maybe third burn ..only if it works....soooooo no pics ... not working then... keeping my fingers crossed... and am already prepared if it doesn't work... I guess I am just stubborn.. Cathy
21. Realmarcha I noticed that you said you are using the Fil-tech ultra core... I have never heard of them.. but are always looking for new wicks.. can you give me a site to look at .. You said you are liking them in soy, so how are they performing for you? Thanks for any info Cathy
22. And here you go.. another Great pic from HenryK.. Love that color Henry..... You always do great work..and I always enjoy your pic's:wink2: Cathy
23. For your heavier oils I would go 1 ounce per pound and work your way up from there if needed..as the aisian sandlewood.. the patchouli, the vanilla amber one.. .. I am sure the coconut and the peach you can go up to the 1.5 ounce..per pound..it is a matter of preference for each of us.. and then sometimes with the heavier oils you still might have to tweek it down less then the ounce..what you need to do is test each one first...as for testing I would start with the heavier oils at maybe .75 of the ounce and if that does not do it for you you can always remelt the prepared wax and add the rest of the sample and test again for hot throw..but remember you still have to cure the soy.. give it at least 3-5 days for curing.. other fo's you will find need more of a cure..I have heard a lot of great things about peaks fo's.. but unfortunately when I had my samples ..was right at the time when all the bad wax was out.. so it was a nightmare and I could not get anything to throw..along with a waste of time and money.. ..but they all sure smelled great... Cathy
24. If that is what you want to use you go... there is nothing wrong with doing business with different waxes .. many of us here do.. and then there are many more who have more then 3 kinds working for them.. you be surprised when one customer prefers the one kind of wax to another.. and vice versa...everyone enjoys a variety of different types of candles from tarts to votives to containers and pillers.. wishing you great success in whatever you choose.. Cathy
25. Kerry I know what you think about double wicking .. I do not think these would have enough room for a double wick.. the thing that is killing me is the 375 ml..12 ounce hex.. is just as wide.. with more corners and I have those one's down pat... and they have more corners... well my wax is about ready to pour and I will test again in the morning.. so far the blueberry is working just fine and is clearing the corners with the 1312 htp.. the only difference I can think of what I did is... I poured at the slushy stage with the blueberry.. my other testers I poured around 150.. i figured i was just going to test them..plus was in a hurry.. so now I have 4 different fo's light ones (green apple, Mac apple, twigs and berries and hot apple pie) and dyes cooling to the slushy stage so I can see if that would be the trick..and if I have no luck.. I will go back to my other jars..I just thought these were a bit more classy looking... why I do this to myself is beyond me.. knowing darn well that here goes another month or so testing and going bonkers with these darn ol' wicks..LOL but sometimes we all need that change.. thanks Cathy
