  1. I usually use gb 464 with fantastic results. Well, my supplier ran out and I subbed for 444. The hot and cold throw are almost identical, but I get terrible sinkholes when I pour 444 that I never got with 464. I am heating to 180 adding FO and pouring anywhere from 140-150, which is what I pour 464 at. Any ideas?

  2. I was at a supplier today. I was ust wandering around and noticed that they had a few 10# boxes labeled "feathering wax". It also said "requires special wicking". I asked the girl who worked there if it was palm wax because that is the only feathering wax that I know and she said, not get this, "I don't know, they don't tell us what they put in the wax." I could have died.

She then told me that they had a sample pillar of it and low and behold it was feathering palm pillar wax, just like CS. Half of the pillar didn't have the feathering design since it was obviously poured too cold. The people who worked there had no idea how to wick it or how to pour it. They didn't even know that it was palm.

I am a newbie at this, but I felt good that I knew something that this supplier didn't. I told the salesgirl that in my testing CD and CDN wicks work the best with palm and that it has to be poured very hot and into heated containers or molds to acheive that beautiful pattern.

How can you sell something and know NOTHING about it? I thought it was funny and had to share. Thanks to candletech for making me so well informed.

  3. I was comissioned by someone at my husbands work who owns a car detailing service to make plain round aroma ornies in very vanilla for him to place under the seats of his clients cars. I am so excited. I am thinking about making them in muffin pans. Does that sound like it would work?

  4. Well, first I got the order and it says that the discontinued Creme Brulee was out of stock, was in stock when I ordered, and green grass only had 8oz. when I ordered 16oz. They credited my card, but would have been nice to get an email or something. I am going to be placing a large order with them for new products and this makes me leary. On top off all of that, the scents that I got I do not like. Don't smell anything like they were advertised. Anyone else have any problems with them.

  5. Thanks so much. Great info. I was scared because the 4 hour mp didn't even cross the tin. I will burn in all the way and see how it goes.

    I wick the 16 oz with either 16 or 18, depending on fragrance. The 8 oz's I can usually use a 12 without a problem. I also use 464. For the record, a 4 oz is usually a 5.

Don't worry about the 2 hour melt pool... the tins get hot on the inside edges toward the bottom and things you're SURE you underwicked catch up on the last few burns. I most often use an 18 on the 16 oz and am fine.

  6. I bought some tins from CS and I use 464. I have never poured into a tin before and wanted to know where to start wick wise. Ihave great luck with 464 and CD wicks and want to know where I should start as far as size.

I actually just poured CS Vanilla Hazelnut into a 16oz tin and wicked with cd18. It is test burning now. I also poured NG Palm Island into a 8 oz tin and wicked with a cd16. Does that sound about right.

BTW the vanilla hazelnut is awesome. I don't think that the MP is big enough on the 16oz though. We will see. I am at the 2 hour mark.

  7. Maybe this is studpid too, but if I need to leave for a minute and I am testing scent throw, I fill up my sink with a little water and put the candle in it. If something does happen the water will extinguish the fire. I have only done this once and actually got the idea from someone on this board.

  8. Okay, so I used it last night. I put it on the second tier of my workspace and put my pour pot on my scale under it. It took no time to fill and you could adjust the fill speed so well that measuring was simple.

The digital controls are AWESOME, jut set and it beeps when it has reached to right temp. I highly reccomend this. For the money, it can't be beat.

  9. I am laughing so hard that my side hurts. I just went to Walmart to pick up my turkey fryer. The Masterbuilt digital one. OH LORD, I didn't realize how big it is. It looks like I could melt a whole box of wax in that thing. I expected it to be a little bigger than my presto pot, but WOW. I am so excited to use it. I just got my fundraiser tally sheet and I will be putting it to good use. Wish me luck.

  10. I just set up an account with matchbooks.com. I ordered 2500 custom matchbooks for $100 including shipping. I thought that was a good price and they didn't look as country as the other site. I am going to use them around my candles and as buisness cards at craft shows and such.
