It is solid, but still kinda soft. It is 85% OO and 15% pko. 33% lye solution.
It has a nice rich lather already though.

Okay, I am new soaper and got a log mold and used it to make cp. 2# batch great. I then made a 2# batch of cphp and it didn't fill it. Do I need to calculate different for cphp?
Also, I got my PKO and have never used PKO before. What is it for and how much goes into a typical recipe?
Also, has anyone made CPHP with carrot juice or tomato juice in liu of water?

I keep looking at your soap pictures and drooling. Some day I will have to make a trip and force you to teach me your secrets. lol
You did a wonderful job! -
verdict is still out on the rosemary verbena. Kinda smells like lemon pledge, but it seems to be mellowing.

I find that small batches cool quickly, I set my thermostat to 200. Also, let the turkey fryer melt the wax ALL THE WAY and let the spigot get warm and it should pour great.

I got some of Bert's $5 16oz scents. I would think that most of them could be used for soap. ANy ideas. The scents are
Rosemary Verbena
Blue Vanilla
Figgy Pear
Calming Blend
Peach Cobbler

Okay so I am new and my first 3 soaps were beautiful, perfect. My last two batches have PMS. The first one was for the castille swap and it traced, big time, as soon as I added the FO, velvet tuberose. I had to glop it into the hold and then just as it was setting up I accidentally dropped a spoon into it and ruined it. I had to dump it out, try to melt it down and then BANG AND SQUISH it into the mold. It actually turned out kinda cool but it made me so mad. Then I made a batch last night. Simple recipe, scented with Cherry Amaretto, which is beyond strong. I only used 1oz for 2 # of soap and it is overwhelming. Well, this little B would not reach a decent trace for anything. I don't have a stick blender so I had to whisk it and it just stayed at a thin trace. I sat there stirring it for an hour and nothing. I finally got so mad that I just poured it into my mold and said the hell with it. I got up this morning, unwrapped it and it was still soft. WHAT THE HHHHHH. I am asking for a stick blender for mothers day. If the hubby can ask for a drill then darn it, I can ask for a stick blender. I am just so frusterated. Sorry had to vent

My husband and I were doing some shopping at Walmart and I scored a 25 pd bucket of Lard for $20. Check out yours and see if they have it. It was right next to the 4pd tubs....

I love CS Lavender. I use it in GB 464 and it is AWESOME. I also used some in CP soap and it was amazing as well. I highly reccomend this.

Okay, used my pop colors tonight and played with it WAY too much and ended up with a yucky reddish green mess. It smells good and I was going to use it for a gardeners soap, since I put cornmeal in it. Anyone else have this problem or am I the only one who can't quit playing with it?
I scented it a mix of bayberry and cranberry and I am calling it twigs and berries gardeners soap.
It does have a really cool textured top, but I am so unhappy with myself for wasting the pop.

TKB trading is awesome. I ordered my pops on Saturday and I got them in the mail today. Is that even possible. I am in Ohio and they are in CA. WOW.. Can't wait to use them tonight.

No milk and I didn't insulate, but what does that mean? Is this batch unuseable? Can I fix it?

Just ordered my 1 oz pack. I am so excited. How do these work? Do you pour off some soap and add this too it for swirling and such? Some advice...
-
Oh yeah, the soap also has hairline cracks running through it if that helps.

No zap. It was a 1 pd recipe and called for 2.3 lye and 4.66 water. It seems to be flakey and crumbly, but the acual bars don't crumble just the pieces that get cut off. It is also very smooth, almost like a creamy texture. I tried for a pic, but it doesn't show what I mean.

I made OHM scented soap yesterday. It was 35% coconut oil 40% crisco, 15% grapeseed oil and 10% shea. I added ground oatmeal and honey at trace and the bar seems kinda flaky. Did I do something wrong? It looks beautiful and smells great. Should I just give it some time?

Well, I think that the vanilla turned it a little brown. It is getting a little ashy, but oh well. Smells yummy.

I melted the green tea butter yesterday in hoped of making an emulsified body butter with it. No luck. Just soup. Had to add a ton of shea to get it to resemble lotion.
Almost a disaster

I was making kitchen soap and had just put the lid on the crock pot and walked out of the room to rinse my lye container when I heard a bubbling noise. I walked back into my room and saw my pot bubbling over. Soap was just about the spew out the top and I got my spoon into it in the nick of time. I SAVED IT. Thank goodness I made 2.2 pounds so that it would fit into my mold because some did spill on the table. oh well, saved for another soaping. My first experience with the creeps. Had to share..
