  1. For suzanne's sample, the cursive font suits Simply Soft much better, but I don't think the font for the Body Shop suits it, though I realize that may just be a temporary solution. I think she's hit on something though - since she switched the font styles (cursive/bold rather than bold/cursive), it draws the eye properly to the brand name. Before this it looked more like Body Shop - Simply Soft, rather than Simply Soft Body Shop (Wait, it IS Simply Soft Body Shop, right?).

The line art drawing also strikes me as a little jagged for the "soft" concept. It also doesn't quite flow well, since everything is leaning to the right except the woman. Was it done by mouse? Would you mind if I did a little sketch? Fingers are itching with inspiration :D

Apparently the GD has the clipart for the girl, I just drew it real quick to make a point! and if everything went to the same direction, it would be dull and boring and redundant! lol I was just making a point about all of the graphics being too busy and not drawing the customers attention, any font will do and color also! it is just preference. HTH

  2. I agree with Prairie Annie (by the way I am a GRAPHIC DESIGNER) and yes that blue box needs to go! Sorry but it is too distracting. Besides rule of thumb in business website design and your GD should know this, a business website needs to have a white background and not a busy background. You can still achieve a soft elegant logo. In my opinion I would the add woman outline from the first graphic and add that to your text (with a faint drop shadow) and nothing else. Choose a soft color for it, and make your text a soft black, not the black black color. May I try it for you and post here? So you will see the difference? Less is more, and my motto is: "Simple but Elegant" will catch the eye quicker and hold it longer than a busy of anything, whether it is a graphic, or webpage or clothes we wear, etc.

Oh and if you send this to a printer, it will cost more cause of all the colors involved in your graphic too! plus you will have to enlarge it and the graphic needs to be at least 300 or more dpi and saved as a .tiff image for this.

here is a sample only! I would in my opinion get rid of the purplish color, in the bottom font, but you can use any of the colors in the background. Also the top font you used didn't portray soft to me, so I changed it then switched them! LOL But either way they can work! I enlarged the font a little bit, too! Thanks for the challenge this morning!!!!!!! I love it!:grin2:

  4. Jeana, the FO is SW Neroli di Orsini. It's a strong FO that smelled just like a citrus tree in bloom when I tried it in candles. I disqualified it for that application cuz it's a wick clogger, but thought to myself if I ever tried making soap maybe I'd give that scent a whirl. Eventually I did use it in my first batch of soap.

My father happens to have lemon trees in his greenhouse. If you haven't smelled citrus blossoms, I'd describe it as a tangy/sweet floral smell. It seems a little sharper in combination with soapy aromas but nice.

For swirling in a loaf mold I found this link in the forum. http://www.beauxeaux.com/swirltutorial/howtoswirl.htm. I do something like that, not exactly, but the blow by blow doesn't matter. I'm sure there are many variations on the technique that would work. The key is that you need to alternate swirl and base to make sure there's something going on all through the loaf and not just on top.

I'm sure the effect can be nice if you just cut the loaf like a loaf. But I don't know exactly how it would look because by the time I tried it I came up with the idea of cutting the loaf like a slab. It's just that the slab is two bars deep instead of one.

Then I just plane and bevel with a simple dohickey.

Can ya do this swirl effect with M&P soap base??????:D with minor adjustments?

  5. The 8 oz is actually a 10 oz jar and that is filled, like about 5 oz empty and a little over 1 lb filled. I use that jar and the 16 oz is about 6.8oz empty and filled it is 1 lb and 8.5 oz. I use both of these. hth

There is a 16 oz keepsake jar which is actually about 14 oz filled. These can be bought at Lonestar, or that is where I buy mine.

Candle and Supplies has them too! that is where I buy mine! Plus they are closer than Texas! I need to check out Candle Science and compare prices LOL They are aobut 1 1/2 hours from me!
