  1. Cool... Nice to hear we have melt makers here!...LoL....

Do any of you sell your melts on ebay?

The reason I ask is I may buy from you...

I'm NEW sorry if this is the wrong spot!

I love melts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and wickless too! You can add a little more fragrance to these too! Especially if the scent is a light one!!!!!!!!!!

I sell out every week and I make tons of them! I even have glass bowls for my single melts if the customer doesn't want to buy my 8 pack! :grin2:

  2. I think you handled that very well. I have had run ends with these CW and MB people. JMO but that is my main problem with them is this rude behavior and pushy attitude at craft fairs. We had one stand near the booth with one of their candles and try and stop people before they reach our area:mad: I have never understood if it is the type of people those companies are attracting or if it is the companies themselves that are training and encouraging that behavior. I won't answer the question concerning where I get my supplies. You can't walk into McDonalds and ask how to make the secret sauce, or call Yank-- and ask what wax, wicks, FO they use to make their candles. So why would someone have the nerve to think they could do that to anyone else? It's rude and I think that makes the companies they are representing look very bad.

As for the photos, I hope this doesn't happen to you but...I had someone do that once and the lady purchased one of my candles. She was also asking alot of where do you get this and that. TWO MONTHS later she had a booth at a local market, her set up was like mine and she even used the same colors for her signs and table decorations. Her labels were in the same font and color and almost identical to mine. We had a very unique item used in as a centerpiece on a holiday decorated table. Guess what she had used in her booth! Now I may be wrong but two months is hardly enough time to accurately test all of your candle products and be ready to sell to the public! No, I wasn't flattered at all!

The so-called candle-maker at the maeket place where I have my shoppe, she is across the aisle from me, (I like the term "Weasel") saw that I was selling my keepsake jars (cause I had quit making candles). Well the following weekend she has quite a few candles in the same jar!!! :laugh2: When I found palm wax ....I took my jars out and brought them home well she wasn't too happy to see my entire wall full of candles and wax melts, firestarters and 8 oz, jelly jars mason jars and roly poly containers too! LOL

But every time I remodel my shoppe, she did the exact same thing with hers!! :laugh2: She would send her customers and friends over to my shoppe and pump me full of questions! Not once did I bash her or her so-called candles (sorry but she doesn't hand-pour her stuff)

So I get it all the time!!! LOL

My answer to these rude know-it-alls is "Jesus"! that is my supplier and secret!!!! :laugh2:

  3. Heaven Scent - You do have legal rights on someone coming in your booth/property and taking pictures with out your permission!

I am going thru a law suit right now on this! A long story but here is the short version, a friend (who started out as a loyal customer) wanted to buy from me wholesale (she made gift baskets) and we made a contract. I told she would have to take her own pictures of my products if she wanted to put them on her website. Well she snuck in and took the pictures with out me even knowing it! Well to say we are not friends anymore. She did other stuff to me too!

But when someone comes in and asks me where I get my supplies, I tell them do a search on google! :laugh2: They come in all the time in my shoppe and I just say as few words as possible!

  4. I have a rough glass cutting board that I use for my slightly uneven palm pillars. I am able to GENTLY rub it across the cutting board and it slightly sands the bottoms even! It works everytime for me! The floors in my workshop are uneven so I need to do this to most of my candles! HTP

What I use are like this!

    http://www.improvementscatalog.com/product/id/101155.do?cm_ven=NEXTAG&cm_cat=2007&cm_ite=222476&code-macs=MP7NEXTAG&code=MP7NEXTAG

Oh Oh!!!! I ahve one of those cutting boards and will kill anyone who tries to take it from me!!!!:laugh2:

  5. Thanks for the vote of confidence Ring of Fire. Like I said before it's just an idea and only an idea. My dad was in sales for over 40 years and he used to always tell us that those that think they can,can and those that think they can't are probably right. It's six of one and half a dozen of another really at this point. I don't feel bad for being told it won't work. Nobody knows for sure because it hasn't been accomplished yet. Nobody is really an upscale snob. They are,I am sure, just expressing their honest opinon. But Judy is correct....you need to find someone to run things and you need to get the folks to invest their hard earned money and that is tough to let go of sometimes. Certainly there would obstacles to overcome in doing something like this, but obstacles aren't permanent barriers and are meant to be overcome if confronted properly. I would guess that large companies started off with similar fears and concerns and learned to overcome those in order to grow their business to a large size and probably deal with issues every day that could threaten their business.

LittleBrownbug - If there is a will............there is a way! With God, ALL things are possible!:highfive:

  6. Sharon, if you go to my web site, they are the ones with the moose, wolf, etc.

Cathy I love your gel candles!!! I am thinking of making the preserves gel candles (customers are beggin me for them LOL) mmmmI have some left wide mouth 8 oz mason jars and I need to do something with them!!!!!:laugh2: I don't want to make palm candles out of them! the masons are too ugly for that!!!!:rolleyes2

  7. Where is Stella and jakelex? they will agree on this too! I use the Frost palm container wax. this is an excellent wax for shipping! I had left one of my test candles in the trunk of my car for about a week! the temp outside was 85-95 degrees! Well I found the jar, laying on its side and just knew it was all melted but it wasn't!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it was so perfect just like I had poured it!!! wooohoooo!!!! LOL that was one of my tests but I had forgotten about it!!!!:laugh2:

  8. I had to tell someone..I just ordered 2 sample packs of FO's from Peaks.

By all the raving about their oils, I thought I would take the plunge..

Now I can't wait to get them..I use Golden Brands 415..Hope I have some good ones. When I get them tested I will post the results..

  10. Suzanne....what type of palm wax do you use? I guess I'm confused on the palm stuff....got some from candle science but I don't think that's what your talking about, right? :P

    Thanks...

sonshine I do use the Starburst from Candle Science and I haven't had a bad batch ever (well YET! :laugh2: ) ! I do use a little more than an ounce per pound, too for my Suzie Melts!

  11. :laugh2::laugh2::laugh2::laugh2::laugh2:

You don't need too many words for me to know what happened... been there, done that, got the wax out of the dog's hair, hid the results.:tiptoe:

Then there are the booboos I tried to save even though the sudden loss of interior fluid made a caved in depression on the side...:rolleyes2

Nowadays when I remove a wickpin from a candle that is still slightly warm, I reinsert it REAL dang quick! Just in case...:tiptoe:

Ummm, since we are talking about dumb things we have done, ever reinsert a wickpin and it comes out somewhere other than its original hole? :shocked2::rolleyes2:embarasse

    :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2: thanks ! I just choked on my soda!!!!!!!!! :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2:

    Still choking!!!!!!!!!!!

  12. since I found palm wax, my tarts last longer in both and I sell out every week! LOL Each one is just a little over 1 oz. A good friend of mine melts them all over her house and she is a power melter! She buys 2 of my eight packs per week! That is 16 melts in 7 days, and she uses simmer pots (electric) I don't complain cause that is a good sale for my business! LOL I use her for a tester too when I make them with a new fragrance! I agree ............find someone who will be happy to get free melts and test them for you! I know I would be!!!!!!!!

  13. Thanks for the review. I know some are 3 leaf and some are only 2 so I'll be looking forward to your reviews - after they cure of course! Will it be in soy, or palm, or both?

Judy I will be using them in palm both pillar and container! I finally got to order that tea light plug for my pillar molds and can't wait to get it!!!!!!!!!

I ordered tealight containers/wicks too and can't keep still! I wish they would come on!!!!!!!!!!

When I get them I will let ya know how they throw!!!!
