  1. Hopefully you are only doing this with a reg drains, and not a septic, you will kills the bactria in the septic.
  2. I found that all my soaps come out better to add the oils at 98 degrees and putting a towl on around them. When it cools to fast it cystalizes. Monica
  3. Thanks soapersworkshop, I will try that method, that does sound easier. What do you think is the differences in the two methods as far as the out come? I make the Cp all the time, so this should be easy. Monica
  4. I found them at the dollar tree at christmas time. I don't know if they have them still but, I bought a case!! Monica
  5. You know, most of anyway do this because we had kids and life , LOL..Its is stress reliever for me anyway. Moms need time out. If this saves us from going to the funny farm , so be it!!!. I'd much rather buy candles supplies than pay a therapist!! LOL.. LOL....
  6. Sorrry about that, I got slammed this week with orders,LOL... good problem to have. Ivory it the liquid dye I use. It makes a rustic color when used in large quanities. You can't make that color with adding different color dyes. I love doing prim, now. It took awhile to get it , but now it is my number one sellers. Monca
  7. Hello, I found that while most oils that bubble are harsh. but they are necessary to make a good soap.Coconut is the best for that, but I only use 40%. So a balance of oils is good. Put the oils in a soap calculator. Then you can use the oils you have. There are many books out there that tell you the properties and how much to use of each. Hope that helps, Happy soaping !!
  8. Wow, I am so glad everyone is in the same boat. My husband about 6 years ago, said this is enough!! get it out of the house, LOL... So I moved ino a store in town. So by the looks of it all of you are all most there!!. I did have a wonderful gal that worked with me that organized me. Not just my things. What I mean by that was changing my thinking. She helped me put things back when I was in a crafting frenzy!!.. That helped a lot. Second we went down to the habbitat for humanity and got counters and cabinets. The counters were wonderful because they had drawers and space. Then I put shelves above them. We put a six feet wall in the middle of the room and put the counters on each side. It took up a lot of room at first , but when everything got off the floors and up , it was huge now!! Wow changed my life. We hit every thift store for shelfs, cabinets, tubs for the store after that to finish the store. We found a librabry index holder for my labels. We took all my lace and ribbon on spools and put them on a dowl rod. then drilled the dowl rod into 2 - 2x4.on each end. So that I could see what I had and they where all availble to me when making baskets. I think keeping everything organzed all the time is the hardest. But possible I hear! LOL... Monica
  9. Hello, this might sound really dumb, but how do you make liquid soap in a cold process? I didn't know that could be done. I was told that when you make liquid soap it has to be cooked or the lye is not come out or change into soap properly. Maybe I am just way out of my Leage, LOL.... I have always done this method and it has always come out great. I use a large cooker from walmart. I would really be interest in how to make it by cold process. This process takes a long time. http://essencesupply.com/liquid/liquidsoap.html Monica Ps, I also make my shampoo this way also.
  10. I would agree that some molds out there do ripe and tare. There is a lot of junk silicone. Now that there is top quality silicone it is hard to change peoples minds that thicker is not always better. Only if you use a top qualtiy silicone. I started off doing this in 99 for a wholesaler. I have tried over 20 different silicones. I have come a long way. I know it seems impossible to have a mold that is durable as well as soft. The slit down the side for candlemakers with that silicone is perfect and works well with a rubber band. I would never bash another silicone maker, especially one that I respect!!... Sorry if that is how I came accross. She makes fine molds. I just want to let people know I have an awesome product, that doesn't tare or ripe. My tensil strength is 1280, but my softeness is a 10. Which means it is strong as well as durable. Monica
  11. I think you want grubby, Take a look at some of my auctions? I don't know if this was your question. http://cgi.ebay.com/Silicone-Candle-Mold-Prim-Cone-Ornie-Star-Crow_W0QQitemZ120017588527QQihZ002QQcategoryZ41207QQcmdZViewItem Grubbing: Take a container and add oil of your choice and cinnamon. Make it like pancake batter. The longer it sits, the better the color. After demolding your item, use a paint brush and lightly brush with the mixture over your piece. Use a soft cloth and wipe the excess off. Then take a dry brush and rub in cimmaon gently. Easy as that!!! Coloring: I use liquid Ivory. Sounds funny but that is the brown color I get. I use one eye drop for 12 cups.
  12. Email these guys and ask if they can find it. I have been ordering for years and sometimes they have found them and sold them to me. Hope this helps!! Monica http://www.containerandpackaging.com/itemlist.asp?p=10&itemtype=Candle_Glass

  14. Hello, I make silicone molds without slits, slices or cuts in my silicone. I use a top quality silicone. So that means that I don't have to get the edges real thick because it is strong. But because it has been formulated for me, it is real soft also.So the mold flips inside out. The only slit I have is in my skillet , because of the handle. Try my silicone once and you'll never go back! I promise Ö¿Ö Monica http://stores.ebay.com/Van-Yulay_Molds-Electric_W0QQcolZ4QQdirZ1QQfsubZ11QQftidZ2QQtZkm

  17. Hello, I make silicone molds. I don't have a baby block , but can make one. What size do you want? http://stores.ebay.com/Van-Yulay_Molds-Soap_W0QQcolZ4QQdirZ1QQfsubZ8QQftidZ2QQtZkm Are you using it for candles or soap? Monica comfort@vanyulay.com
  18. Hello, yes you can use it from the baking isle. Anything that is food safe is soap safe. Minus some spices, that would be sensitive to your skin. http://www.essentialwholesale.com/product_p/114.htm Essential wholesale has every oil and every eo. I use 3 ounces for my lye soap per 63Oz. For a mp I would think about 1/2 - 1 ounce per LB. It is pretty strong. Monica
  19. The second batch I must say looks awesome. The first batch is separeted. The oils where poured to soon. The lye was to hot!!.. I hate that.. But you live and learn in the soaping world. I found that 98 degrees is an ok temp to pour oils. I read the recipe and ten minutes would be ok if it is winter somewhere cold. Where is it hot it would take longer. I found in the south where it is humity is high , it takes longer for everything!! I use a kitchen aid bowl, metal. When I can touch the sides and feel it is just warm, not hot ( the same temp as me)it is time to pour my oils when I pour my oils But I have made soap since 99 and it takes practice. What I can see is that you are well on your way and should do fine!! Monica
  20. Hello, I did the same thing the first time I made milk soap. That brown to dark tan is burnt milk. The lye is too hot. The lye gets up to 300 degrees. If you add milk that is half frozen it comes out great. It is suppose to be a cream to light color for milk soap. If you burnt it real bad, it will not smell good when cured, but still will clean wonderfully. Try again, because you will succeed and when you do, the out come will be wonderful!! Happy Soaping!! Ö¿Ö
  21. www.essentialwholesale.com has wonderful supply of everything!!! Monica

Instruction On Mixing Soap Wear Rubber Gloves Melt/heat the Oils in a enamel pan and place on stove to melt and heat. Or Place in the microwave for 3 Minutes. When the Oils and lye are warm to the touch 98 Degrees, pour oils slowly into the lye while blending. Place cold water or Milk into a glass bowl and slowly add lye while stirring with a Stick Blender. Stir until well blended. Come back every five minutes or so and blend until blended well. At 98 degrees add one cup of sugar. . Keep blending until you get trace. Trace is when it thickens to the point where you can drop some of the mix back in to itself and it leaves a trail. At this point use any ( 2.0 Z or ¼ cup ) herbs, scent, or coloring and stir and pour mold(s).Spray your molds with mold release. Silicone or Vegetable spray Any container will work, As long as it’s not metal. No aluminum- the lye will eat the container. You can line a cookie sheet with shrink-wrap or any container. Specialty soap molds work just fine, too. Put molds in a cool dry place, Cover so that the air wont get into them- This causes a white powder to comes to the top ,if they dry to fast. Let set 24 hours and then cut. Cover and Place on to rack or cloth surface and let cure for 4-6 weeks. To dry more quickly and save space -you can set the soap on their side.
