They look awesome Sharl, love those autumn colours yep it sure was great fun trying something new even though it was way past midnight here by the time I finished, going to have another go tomorrow with extra stearic
-
Oh yes added stearic used 12oz wax and 1/2oz stearin, I only made the one candle. I take it needs more stearic, really need to get a tbsp lol. Think I know why had so much trouble trying to make the waves the other week I'd used vybar in those and the wax set up real quick so will try them again without, wax was totally different working with it last night with just the stearic.
-
Thanks JV it has a little frosting on it, not quite sure what happened to the rustic part of it, I didn't add vybar, have never done that before. I was working out in the workshop so its pretty cool out there should I maybe have poured cooler than 150 degs. Must say I really enjoyed taking part in the class, thanks so much for doing that for us. As to the wax the supplier says it candle shack 280p, dont know if that will mean anything to you we're pretty limited to the wax we get here

I used to use a gas stove, I had a large saucepan 2/3 full of water with a trivet to stand the melting pot on to keep it off the bottom of the pan. Always kept a close eye on the temp. and never left it unattended. Hope this helps

Lol just now its 11.35 we're 6 hours ahead of you, not got college tomorrow so its a late one for me
-
Thanks so much Judyvega for giving up your time to do this, so glad I could take part in this class, can't wait to unmold this one
-
Sorry quick question if I normally pour at 175 degs. what temp do I need for these. won't interupt again
-
Just about ready here wax is melting nicely
-
LMAO right up there with you just went way over the 100 mark and just ordered more, can't help it. Then there's the blending them lol.
-
Ooooooh I likey still haven't got round to my second attempt but well done you
-
Beautiful damn you guys are soooo lucky you get such great choices of waxes can't seem to find anything but ecosoya in the UK
-
I am working on another one of these since everyone else can do it and me can't. (I know bad english here...lmao)
Lol did you see mine diamondk wasn't a wave in sight but I did like the layers I got. Will have another bash at them at the weekend
-
Yep same here wouldn't be without my wick stickers or my wick centering tools
-
Ooooh love them, I hope my attempt at these will be better than the fuglies I made last time

Candles and Supplies
-
Ok here's a couple of fuglies that I made yesterday. Not much of a wave going on anywhere lol but did have fun making them. Will keep trying these wave candles as they look awesome, just hoping I do better with the tilted layers. I should have known it was going to be a bad afternoon yesterday as when I tried to weigh the wax, the battery in my scales was dead so had a trip to shops before I could start, then I added black dye instead of plum so added plum after, it shouldn't be as dark as it is. So for the next class, must try harder lol
-
Oooooh can't wait till the next class, gonna take the laptop out to the workshop and make them during class. You guys are so talented and its fantastic that you're willing to share your techniques with us all. Will post my fuglies later that I made yesterday look more layered than waves but had a lot of fun making them.

Gorgeous, I love the colour, I do like that palm wax but haven't anywhere that sells it in the UK
-
Thanks folks for your input, think I shall be ordering a couple next time to give them a try Might try the metal tape as well and see what works best for me as I'm so sick of using blue tack.
-
I've never used wicking pins for making pillars before but just wanted to know what advantages and disadvantages there are with using them. After observing the class last night that Scented did makes me think they would be much easier than what I'm doing just now. Any input on this would be hugely appreciated folks
Many thanks
Sarah
