  1. Stella, I have tried the 6% and the results are slightly better if not the same as c3. I went up to 12% just to see what would happen. There is really not any noticable difference in most. The mulberry spice was one that smelled alot better colod but HT meh about the same. I have not tested many fragrances yet so the results are sporadic. Im gonna try to get to colors later today if time permits. One thing that i do like is im taking masons right out of the case not washing not heating and cooling in open air with pretty good results. It is 70 degrees inside so its not overly warm either. I would like to pour hotter and way low yet just to see what happens.
  2. So far i've tried..... JS oils Cinnamon, vanilla, fudge brownie, Mulberry, apple pie, lilac, lavender and Creme brulee. Tried EAC Leather, honey vanilla and wildberry. Tried what i believe to be from bittercreek apples and oak Tried Candlewic Guava, blueberry, cherry, White tea Have not funa fragrance that does not work well. The cold throw is comparable to C3 and cbl125 paraffin. The hot throw i think is a bit better ( after toying with wick sizes) Pouring at about 120 degrees with semi smooth tops, ( minor heatgunning cures this) no visable frosting and no wet spots. I am able to get a deep wich color. It does require a bit more dye but it does hold more color without any frosting. ( minor heatgunning) Still toying with temps i'd like to see just how low this can go ;-) and how hot. Limited on time but will update when i have more results. Also about the sepage of lilac oil from another post the next day it was gone. I have had the wax hold up to the advertised 12% listed on the tech sheets. I plan on using 6% but i enjoy seeing just what the wax can do. I plan on using some liquid dye to overload the candles and see how it affect frosting ( i dont normally use liquid) I see alot of people having issues with liquids so if i get to it tonight ill toss alot of brown dye and alot of red dye in some.
  3. Judy, the overloaded fragrance wE just a test to see what would happen. Today. Imgetting seepage of fo on the unburned one. I'm going to step the fo load down to my standard 1 oz and retest. Hopefully tonight I can get several different fragrances made to test. Was rereading the tech sheets, it says noheating of jars is required so I think I'm going to mess around with that too. I have 10 lbs of it to play with so we will see what comes of it. Anyone else get any to try? What are your thoughts?
  4. Ok sry about the pics camera hit the floor and no longer works......Anyways. Test burn went well htp 104 looks to be a tad to big for the mason jar (16 oz). The wax solidifies smooth. There were no hidden voids so far. One odd thing i did notice is, the underside of the container totally frosted. There is MINOR frosting on the candls nothing abnormal. Hot through could be a bit better( just scent lilac.. throws good in c3 and paraffin.( NOt a major decrease in throw but i can notice it. I may make another test with a bit for fragrance ( although i like to keep em at 1 oz per pound) So far i really can't justify the bit more the xcela costs over c3 there just isnt enoughdifference. Gonna try to play with more fragrances this weekend.
  5. Colling openly at 70Degrees produced a MINOR crack around wick. No other cracks in top. Top is a touch ( i mean very little rough nothing that you would notice unless you are eyeballing it.) Side wall adhession is great. Have 2 tiny frosting marks( about the size of a pen point in several places) Cold through is about the same as c3 and straight parrafin ( just scent lilac) Have not burned it yet. Biggest thing im looking for cooling like it was is a hidden void. Will get it test burned when i get back today.
  6. Got 2 test ones poured. Used 1.5 oz per pound( i know high but testing higher loads) I like to keep it around 1 oz pp but tech specs say it will hold 12% so wanted to try a bit more than usual. Used a 12 oz status jar and a 16 oz mason. Heated to 170 poured at abot 130 so far cooling open air it is 70 degrees in the room. Heated glass to 115 degrees. Used lilac from Just scent. The container blend def. feels a bit more oily than c3. Coloring did take a few more drops of liquid than c3. Pics to follow after they cool a bit. Started wuith HTP 104. i know its a jumble running on about 2 hours sleep..... Trying to get all the data out there.
  7. Just got back from wsp. Picked up both of them to try. The pillar blend is kinda crunchy lol. If i get to it tonight will let you know. Flaxes are both white not creamy like c3.
  8. Hello, Picked up a few larger libby jars, the libbey 22 oz and the libbey 31 oz as seen here http://www.jarstore.com/catalog/product_cat.php?subid=18 Plan on messing around more with the C3 nature wax i have. Am thinking of trying a CD20 to start with. Anyone else use these jars or have any thoughts on where to start? Also have some Fil-tecs 3.000.
  9. It was not of his doing. IGI will not produce the j360 anymore. They canned him without much notice.
  10. I did a search but most of the information os a few years old. Does anyone use this wax? It is avaliable locally so im thinking of getting into the soy craze. From what im reading from www.naturewax.com the C-1 is a blend of soy and other ingredients to nullify the potential issues of straight soy. Any thoughts?
  11. I got me some icing bags and shapers... woo hoo. probably gonna end badly.....Wonder how well wax works as icing....
  12. They are hand rolled. I think im gonna make a mold out of those. Rolling them by hand is bah! I pour the wax into a cookie sheet, cut it with a dough spade, then roll it into the cin. buns. After they cool for about 5 more minuts they can be mooshed down. Pretty easy. Just dont do it till the wax is hard enough cause hot wax burns....
  13. We usually look for good burn first. If they burn good then they get burnt by themselves to test for hot throw. The garage area is heated to 70 degrees. Out of that first run there were 11 good burns and 6 that need a different wick. Out of those 11 9 have a good throw so will be retesting those. Testing on a larger amount is time consuming and irritating but the end results will speak for themselves. Laid off from the " real Job" so helping the Mrs. out with testing... ;-) Got several notebooks always taking notes.
  14. No you find a wick/ wax combo that works with the fragrance.... You haveing a bad day top?
  15. Only potential problem i see with a dollop would be it melting and flodding the wick. When i get to making a few more to test will post about it. Still thinking about some other ideas. A pumpkin roll has my interest now.. Apple dumplings sound yummy too... ahh so many choices....
  16. Hardly. Testing all of them with 18. After a good 4 hour repeated burn is established will adjust wicks and try again. All in good records. ;-) We have always added our jars this way. Its all in trial and error. Most will fail but some will work well. This method works for us and produces a safe well burning candle.
  17. Added 2 types of containers. After toying with just one scent and getting a general idea of what may work in these 2 containers we made 2 of each scent. The first container is a standard 8 oz Tin. The second is a 10 oz Apothacary jar. 17 different fragrances, 34 candles total all lit in the garage! First time its smelled nice in there. Which brings me to a question. How does everyone else do their testing?
  18. The coloring is off a bit still tweaking it. Crust is a pillar container mixture with container blend for the " filling" I made several without wicks still testing. Scented with JS pumpkin pie spice. Need to work on the icing looks plain without it. Maybe gonna mess with icing bags later today, see how that looks. Any ideas for something on the top? The chocolate one came out good i think. The crust color needs work. Dunno about the lattice. Was just seeing if i could hand make the lattice. Maybe just go with a dollop of cream?
  19. The orange was one of the mistakes. Used some powdered dye. The darkes flecks were where the wax wax wet enough to turn the dye dark the orange was where is wasn't. Gnne mess around again tonight get the " dough " color a bit lighter. Mabe attempt a few mini pies. Thinging chocolate creme.
  20. Try www.cccandlesupply.com they have several colors.
  21. Using all scents from Just scent. Started with Pumpkin Pie Spice about 1 oz per lb. 16 oz wide mouth mason jar. CBL 125 wax from candlewic. About 10 drops orange dye. Thinking starting with a cd 16 or CD 18 what are your thoughts? Thanks in advance for any advice!
  22. Candlechem has them here.... http://cgi.ebay.com/1-2-oz-Plastic-Bottles-w-Screw-On-Caps-25_W0QQitemZ140126590792QQihZ004QQcategoryZ26420QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem or ebay item # 140126590792 Good bottles and fragrance oil does not affect the plastic. Charlie
  23. Welcome to the boards. TO remove wax from your glass containers set a pn in your oven under the rack put your glass upside down on the oven rack and set the oven to about 150-175 DO NOT GO ANY HIGHER and make sure your glass will take that kind of heat (most glass will thin really thin glass may crack.) The wax will soften and run out of your containers. Wipe out any residue with paper towles. Charlie
