  1. Congrats on the feature....however! What if a random customer came to your site and ordered more than you could handle....what would you do?

You should always be prepared when it comes to your business. Make it a habit to reorder when you get at a certain point of being out....for instance I reorder when I have one pound of an FO left. I try to keep 2-3 lbs on hand of each scent.

You may have to use all of your monies between now and then to get prepared for the what if factor.

Another alternative - one that I hate as a consumer, is to offer an alternative....example, if someone wants apple pie scent and you are out maybe offer them something close like apple cinnamon. Some people may not care....me on the other hand would ask for my moolah back asap.

Just a few things for you to think about....can you get a loan from your mom, dad, cousins, someone? Seriously....be prepared at all times as you never know you may miss your big opportunity.

Off my box now...have a good day.

  2. Glad to hear those FOs worked for you. I only use Banana nut bread and something else I don't remember off tops from them.

I thought you were going out of business, did I miss some threads from then to now? :undecided

How long did it take you to test those? I am asking cause it takes me forever to test...but I only test one scent at a time for throw and burn so I am not getting mixed candle smells. Any input is appreciated.

  3. Well, he already said that he only charges 4.99 for hosting but either way, I am done with it. I didn't intend for this to go this far. I am ashamed of myself for the way I have acted and I apologize.

I've held my tongue thus far (big surprise huh! -lmao)....don't apologize. People have decisions to make regarding their businesses. It is tough when you have put countless hours in to build something nice and you may be faced with rebuilding things over again from ground zero. You were responding with emotion. That is to be expected when something is a big suprise.

I think what everyone needs to do is take two steps back and weigh out your options. List out your pros and cons of staying and going. Take another DIY company and compare it's rates, customer service, programs/software, etc.

I for one did get confused on some parts...however I felt this thread was very informative.

  4. This issue is not limited to candlemaking - crafters in general do not understand that their labor costs MUST be factored in to their bottom line costs. Many folks don't even know how to figure actual labor costs, which not only include the time it takes to make something, but to order supplies, ship, do inventory, etc. Every minute you spend on your business is part of the labor cost. ;)

Hit it right on the head.

  5. LOL - yes. I normally test burn more than one candle at a time - well afterwhile they are smell like candles to me...no particular scent.

Well...I bought a competitors candle and thought oh crap that smells good....then I couldn't remember my last batch of testing smelling like that.

So, I had to light just one of my candles and sure enough my stuff was just as good (I would say better, but I am modest..ha)and I could smell just that candle scent.

  6. It would take a WHOLE lot of self-control, but I would hit delete asap. Everything in me would want to address this idiot & call them out, but I think that's called 'taking the bait.'

Although, if I were to respond:

    Dear Phantom Burner --

Nothing in your correspondence indicates we have ever met, nor that you have ever purchased one of my candles. This begs me to question: Why on earth are you writing to me? What problem am I expected to solve? What is a refrig cooler ... & how does it lead to a garbage can fire? Actually, what the hell is a garbage can fire? Why are you cleaning up outside? How do you know my candles smell great, yet you don't know how I contain them? What is your motive? What is the name of your Insurance Agent? And, oh yeah ... who the hell are you?

In America we don't buy the extra vowels, so I can't really help with your love of odours. I've never sent any of my candles across the pond, so I know your issue isn't with me. You say you'll never light another candle ... so, again, I find myself quite confused by our conversation.

You ask me to share my secrets for a candle that's "ABSOLUTELY WITHOUT QUESTION, SAFE." Let's face it, Granny, as long as there is one single person on this earth who shares your DNA, this probably isn't possible. Since you possess the minimal skills of effective communication, I have to make the sweeping assumption that you also have little ability to comprehend the written word. Please note, that would include our intriguing correspondence AND the instructions for proper burning techniques included with all reputable candles priced over one dollar. If you don't have enough common sense to burn a candle properly or take responsibility for your own actions, then you really need 24-hour supervision to prevent you from lighting the pretty flame. I hate to be the harsh bearer of reality, but since you sought me out ... you're an idiot. Unfortunately, there's nothing anyone can do to make the world a safer place when people like you exist without the basic skills of functional intelligence.

P.S. -- Good luck with that new insurance policy.

    Classic! lmao

    That was too good.

  7. Just gorgeous. I already have a magnificent bracelet from HS~ and everyone comments on how beautiful it is. Pictures do no justice. You need to get a website or start selling on Etsy!

More sales, more beads. WOOT!! :highfive:

I just PM her here - lol

I am going to have to order one of those with my next order. :yay:

    Nice job Val!

  8. Careful Planning!

I work 2 jobs plus candles.

What works for me is - whoever beats me home...plugs in the prestos. Then I get home and pour. I have everything layed out (glass, molds, etc) before hand - usually do it in the mornings before work.

Then I get home and pour.

Packing I hate...but most of the time I can get DH to help with that.

My step daughter and her sister are getting in town today......well I have been struggling with time to test burning my new formula of wax. Guess what they are gonna get paid to do? lol. So by the end of their stay I should have at least 80% of my stuff retested. :laugh2:
