So I take it you gave up on the RRD's. I personally don't like the LX wicks, MP and HT is awesome, but they leave way too much wick poop in the wax and they shroom sooo big. I was hoping the RRD's were better...back to the drawing board. HTP 105's aren't even reaching the side in 4 hours...I thought I'd have a towering inferno...I can still touch the top of the glass...we'll see on the 2nd burn what happens. I thought the square containers were tough, this 3" straight sided round is crazy!
-
Wow, those are long. It wasn't really the length that I'm looking for just the medium cotton wick itself as it works well in one of my containers.
-
Found them...had to go back to every supplier in my favorites to find it!
-
Definitely wasn't GenWax...I'll check Candlewick, something just came to me that it might be Let It Shine. Thanks for the help.

Just out of curiosity, what scent is it?

This is the 2nd post today with C-3 and weeping or sweating...think maybe the weather might have something to do with it. I do add my fo at 170-175 and stir slowly for at least 2 min. Once in a while the weeping happens, but not bad and if it doesn't come back I consider it a good candle...otherwise I burn it myself!!
-
I use a lot of C-3 and sometimes this happens no matter what you do, but if you're finding it on all or alot of your candles...try adding just 1 oz pp and add the fo at 170 - 175, stir slowly for at least 2 minutes (the longer you can, the better.) You can usually tell if it wasn't mixed in good because it will keep seeping even after you wipe it, if it only does it once and it's not a lot...don't worry about it. HTH

I'm looking for a medium cotton 9" wick (that's the description on the bag). Bought these about 4-5 months ago...didn't realize the supplier name is not on the bag until time to reorder...went through all my invoices and can't find them!! PANIC!!! Any ideas?

I hear you Crafty1...had to wick down on Macintosh Apple...must be that Jack Daniels they put in the Apple Jack & Peel that makes it tougher to burn...that is what the Jack stands for isn't it??
-
Nope, not the only crazy one...note the name...it's really backwards, should say Krazy Kandle maker!! I actually thought about buying more wicks today, I should be shot...don't know what stopped me...I probably heard my husband coming and had to close the web page down!
-
Don't feel too bad...I don't think my husband has ever even lit a candle in his life but daily he gives me suggestions to make my candles better! So far I haven't super glued any wicks to him, but I can think of better places than his face if I ever do!!! I gently remind him that I have this wonderful forum where actual chandlers reply to answer all my questions...which reminds me again to THANK ALL OF YOU!!!! for all your input and support...some days I think I'd quit without it.

Wow...Island Girl...thanks for the mixing tip...I've never had smoother tops!!! If it weren't for the fact that I need to poke holes to be sure there aren't air pockets, I wouldn't have to touch these...the tops are that nice. Now I just have to wait to burn them...waiting patiently.
-
I don't usually use jars, just containers...but I don't see why you couldn't do this in anything.
-
I usually do the same, but if you don't want to waste those pre-tabbed wicks, you can make it wickless and skewer a hole for a wick to try, take it out if not working and try another. I usually flatten out the top with heat gun or torch after I put a new wick in...just to be sure it has the same level playing ground.

Angie,
If you try Monkey Farts in a container, please let us know if you get the same great results.
Thanks for all your input!

JMO but I don't think there is any way to avoid the MP turning the dye color.
-
Natty,
Did you ever get this one to work properly? I have never tried RRD wicks, but was considering trying them next. I use either a 3" square or a 3" round frosted tumbler, if I get the MP and HT to be wonderful I don't like the poop that the wicks leave behind. If I use a wick that doesn't make a mess, I don't seem to get a great HT (ok, but not great.) I think I've tried every wick except RRD's...almost every wax too!!
-
Stella is absolutely right (again)...I had Orange-Vanilla from one co that I had to wick up 2 sizes and another co that I didn't have to wick up at all???? They both smelled great CT and HT...so I can't say one was inferior to the other. I do find that MOST Orange/Lemon/Grapefruit need one size up.
-
Sure, make them without dye...they won't frost!
-
You can actually ask them to send you info and you will get some sample powder scents (which will blow your head off...strong!) They will also email you every day for about 2 weeks with tips for starting your business. I considered doing it as I do like their candles...but I like making them myself better! I tried them about 4 months ago again...don't know if this was new formula or not, but the HT was great. I'm not one to really care much about CT, because it really doesn't tell me what I'm going to get when I burn it...but I do like to be able to at least smell something when its cold and theirs definitely smell.

Thank you so much, you've saved me hours of testing.
-
Thanks so much, I appreciate the feedback...I've made some really bad mixes...so I really hesitated this time to just try it...I'm going for it. I thought I read a post somewhere that 415 doesn't mix well with anything, but couldn't find the post again, probably was a different wax.
-
Munch,
Have you tried mixing 415 and C-3???? I posted this morning wanting to know if anyone has tried these two together.
-
I've searched and searched this forum and can't quite find what I'm looking for.
Wondering if anyone has mixed 2 different soy waxes together for container candles. Right now I have 415 and C-3. After using Ecosoya ACB for a couple of months, I got spoiled with the hot throw...C-3 just isn't up there. I'd use the EACB all the time, but it is soooo dang expensive. I'm going to try UA in C-3 when my order arrives, but would like to know if anyone has tried mixing container waxes?????? I'm tired of waiting for UPS to deliver...looks like it might be a couple more days.
adding Coconut oil?

I think someone posted somewhere that if you use spoiled coconut oil, it will change your scent. Mine aren't old enough to determine (only about 2-3 weeks) and my oil was fresh. Just be sure to refrigerate the oil after opening even if the jar states you don't need to...I use this oil frequently in cooking (and on my hair for conditioning) and it does spoil from heat and light.
