  1. It sounds like a great idea, but I had refrained from trying to make a hurricane with the palm wax for several reasons... Palm wax is brittle. I figured that I wouldn't be able to make the shell thin enough for light to go through. If I WERE able to make it thin enough, it would break easily. Another was b/c the wax will probably melt if I used a votive. On a personal level though, I wouldn't mind. I like to use the feathering palm in pillars/votives, and I noticed that after I blow out the flame, once it cools the feathering pattern is different from before. If you decide to make a go of it, please post pictures!
  2. you can find tapioca starch fairly cheap at the asian markets
  3. Of course, they blame the candle instead of negligence.
  4. Maybe you can just tell her that those are not the retail price. It is a new item and you are only testing the market. When your test is complete, the price on the items will be raised accordingly. So, you are unable to offer her those items for a lower price since the price you were selling them at IS wholesale cost. Restaurants do the same thing. Offer a new item for a lower price to see how well it goes before raising the prices and adding it to their menu.
  5. The flowerpot votive holders are not very palm friendly. I noticed that when I tested with the flowerpot or any other flared top votive holder, the flame would nearly die out as the wax blows out the side of the votive. The best holder for a palm votive would be a tight fitting straight sided holder. I personally prefer to use the status votive holder. With wicks, I have had the best luck with RRD34 and HTP83. I use the HTP83 since I have a whole spool of it. HTH
  6. Ok, Now I feel bad. I didn't get to drop off my box at the post office. The streets are chaotic. Gas stations are out of gas. There is hardly any food at the grocery stores. And, I am in a mandatory evacuation zone. *sigh*
  7. Oops.. I misread the due date. I wrote in my calendar to send out the votives on the 20th. SO, I am a bit late. Sorry.
  8. You can get rock salt really cheap ... $5 for a 40 pound sack. They're used for water softeners.
  9. I couldn't answer any questions about their shipping since I pick up locally. As for the invoices, I always received a Paypal invoice from them with the total the next business day and they always alert me when it is available for pick up... which is usually in the paypal invoice.
  10. I forgot to include one more thing... when I marathon burned and let it cool... it would start to lift from the bottom of the container. Occasionally, it would lift the wick tabs off the wick stickums.
  11. I had good luck with this wax on scent throw. I use HTP wicks. The only problems I have with this wax are air pockets and discoloration after it's burned.
  12. I've seen those tapers at Hobby Lobby. I think it was in a black box and it shows the tapers dripping with various colors
  13. I thought Oprah went for Er'go candles. Now, to mess with our heads a little.. imagine if that ebay seller DID burn the candle.. and refilled it with his/her own concoction of wax and fo. Those buyers probably wouldn't even know it. :lipsrseal
  14. I had gotten an Okidata C5150. It is a one-pass color laser making it faster. It prints up to 12 pages per minute in color. The toner for this printer also leaves a glossy look without using glossy paper. Than may or may not be a plus to you. The last that I had seen this printer, it was down to $399. It may be even lower now if they still have them. The 5200 model would probably be easier to find and I think its down to the same price -- $399.
  15. WOw, that soap looks like the cheesecake swirl brownies that i make.

    Leg Wax

Body sugaring -- I didn't think it hurt much, but perhaps I might be a bit of a masochist. I usually use wax since that's what we have at the salon. But if my memory serves me right, the sugaring was less painful.
  17. My first thought when I saw the soap... TIGERS!
  18. Gosh, I don't sell that often. I like to experiment more than anything. My house is FULL of candles. I'm running out of space to store them. I'm also afraid to calculate how much I have spent in the last 12-18 months. I know for sure that it is several hundred... if not, close to a thousand.
