  1. Didn't I see once where someone actually used frozen packing peanuts in the summer months? Or am I mistaken?

I dont remember who it was but yes they froze the packing peanuts.

As for me, on the Hot days I ship out on Mondays and Tuesdays and I Always use Priority Mail (have never had a problem with USPS). I wrap mine in Bubble wrap and LOTS of packing peanuts. I make sure it is tight in that box and I also put these large orange stickers that say "Fragile handle with care". I also ask my customers if there will be someone to get their package because it is wax and it will melt if left out in the heat. Now after ALL that said, If they leave it out in the sun it is THEIR problem not mine.

  2. Funny you mention scent throw. The guy I am dating can only tolerate Yankee candles. According to him, mine are too strong and he asked me to make him a candle with their oil so he could use mine. Yeah--not going to happen, I'm not compromising my quality no matter how cute he is.

Good for you!!!! He will come around to your candles soon,,you will see.:D

  3. When I set up to pour I put my jars in a box, I pour between 135-140. Then I cover the top of the box so that they cool slowly. So far with the new re-blended 444 I have not had any problems with Frosting or cracking or having to use my heat gun. Now when we first received the samples from GB THAT frosted and cracked. They (GB) took it and re-blended it,,this is what I am using now. You can also use some parrifin WITH the 444 if you choose to. I know some people that do that. If you continue to get frosting there is an additive called Frostop I think Millcreek may have this,,I know www.barnloftcandle.com has it as she sent me a sample with my pryme colors, this works also. I used it on the Samples GB sent out a while ago. If you like this wax try the different methods such as adding a wee bit of paraffin and see what happens. as far as storing and curing,,I use 16oz Wide Mouth Kerr jars and I use the cartons they come in and store them in this.

Please remember all waxes will work for some people and maybe not others,,I find this geograhically true. We had a topic on that once.

I hope that I have helped some of you out. Keep on testing:D

  4. At first it all seems very over-whelming BUT if you take a lot of notes and READ the Archives, there is a ton of information here and great people to help ya a wee bit. I started out as a hobby 4 years ago and I LOVE it still!!! It calms me and the feeling you get after you make them is almost euphoric!!

I suggest you get a Kit to start out with. I got mine from www.peakcandle.com Their kits are well worth the money for all that you get with them. I started with Pillars and I love them still,,,Anyway

WELCOME to CT and your new ADDICTION!!!:D

Oh and dont forget a journal!!!! ALWAYS take notes when you make your candles!!!!

  5. Hi Breanna -

I have seen alot of your posts and just finished even reading an old testing post where you tested 464.

I have narrowed down to either the 415 (w/o additives) or the 444 (with additives). I am just wanting to get a good hot throw in most of my oils, I don't think that is asking too much lol

Out of the waxes you have tried, what would you recommend and what seems to be your favorite for what reason?

    thanks so much!

    Jami

For me the 444 has the BEST hot/cold throw!! I still have the 464 and its okay but I prefer the 444. My Hubby also liked the way my candles smelled with the 444. I have one with Rose Bouquet and all ya have to do is walk past it (not Lit) and you can smell it. I have a 6 bedroom house and when that candle is lit you can smell it all over the house and thats in a 16oz Kerr wide mouth jar.

If you are not sure just buy a sample and try it. That is where you will know whats best for you.

I prefer Blended waxes over straight plain wax. HTH

  6. After trying liquid and color blocks, I switched to color crystals from make scents candles. It sure makes coloring soooooo much easier and takes so little crystals to get a nice color.

Breanna, thanks for that link. I have been trying to come up with a few different colors and wasn't sure how much of which color to use and this was a HUGE help!

    You are very welcome:D

  7. Good luck with that! I ordered over a month ago and still haven't heard anything back, nor was my card charged so I guess no loss. :undecided In the past ordering from this company has been hit or miss. Some times they send the stuff out quickly, some times they don't. I guess it depends on how they feel but it is not good when you need something.

Hi, Im sorry you are having problems getting your order But I assure you Daphne will get to you soon,,Have you tried emailing her or phoning her??

  8. I agree LadyBre -The fo was Lonestar and I know the cranberry does not mix, even at .75oz pp you can still see some in the bottom of pour pot no matter how much stiring you do. The vanilla seems to mix good, was trying to remember, and it does seem like the other times I have had this happen all the fo has been from Lonestar - you may be on something there! I started out with Lonestar and certain scents I have stayed with them because they were so good and I have never found anything wrong with their fo's but 4625 and LS may just not mix good!!! :cool2:

I have gone back to Just Scent, Peaks and Bittercreek. After my experiance with fingernailing I dont mind the shipping cost,,LOL,,,I have not used Lonestar and thanks for the heads up on them,,:D

  9. Hi, I use IGI-4625 and have NEVER had fingernailing UNTIL I bought Gemlite FO. Then I got them,,,So I decided to test this,,EVERYTIME I use the Gemlite FO my pillars fingernail,,,this FO does NOT blend well in ANY wax or at any temp,,its the same everytime. HTH

Went back to my best FOs and I have had not one Fingernail so I believe it is also the FO not mixing well. JMO
