Hi Everyone, Thought I would share my baskets I made for a friend of ours that needs a bone marrow. We are haveing a benefit for him and they asked if I would make some thing for the Silent Auction
First basket is Pillars (apples&cinnamon, Pumpkin pie spice) votives and jars of the same scent with a lighter.
Second Basket I put a jar warmer with 4 wickless candles, Pearberry, Captivatingly Current, Chestnuts & Brown Sugar and Hazelnut Coffee.
Also a tealight burner with tarts of Apples & cinnamon and Pumpkin pie Spice.

Just a note to help you along. Right now there is no way to completely stop soy candles from fat blooming (Frosting). The trick to soy waxes is to cool them properly. In some cases pouring the candle at 160 deg F in a room that is at 75 deg F and in some cases that is pouring the candle at 105 deg F. You need to figure out what works for you and the wax that you are using. Soy waxes are not all the same and need different pouring conditions. My suggestion is to work with the wax you have to find the right conditions for your environment.
Someone told you to watch out for heat but also be aware that cold temperatures can also have an affect on the candles.

Actually there is an additive called Frostop that is sold by barnloft candles that works to stop frost. I use it and it works VERY well is all my GB waxes.

Those are very pretty!!!!

I write what wax, wick,FO,temp, additives (if any) and everything I have done to make this candle,,It is literally like a Journal,,I write it ALL down no matter how small it is,,,HTH,, It is my Most important book I own:D
Just adding to say: I work on my computer a lot and yes it is great to keep your work on it and then you need to back it up with disks, However I have known some people that have had their computers crash and then all is lost because they didnt write it down on paper. JMHO. OOPPSSS meant to edit my first post, SORRY

I do both,,,,Just depends on my mood:D But it doesnt affect the Quality of my candles whether I use wick pins or not. JMO:D

Peaks has the best I have ever smelled. I have a story Ill share with ya,,,
I was making a candle for my nephew one day and my daughter was sleeping on the couch taking a nap. Well after I poured it and mixed it into my wax she wakes up and says "MOM, WHAT ARE YOU DOING?",,,I thought I was going to die laughing,,,I said "making Brownies,",,She comes running into the kitchen and saw that I was making the candle and told me," you better not be making those type of things" OMG I laughed until tears rolled. It was the first time I used it and it is to strong at 1oz per pound,,,I swear if a cop had walked up to the door he would have busted the door down,,, My daughter is not a light sleeper so you can imagine how strong it was.
It is literally one of the FO's I HAVE to use a chemical mask on to use.
Anyway, felt like sharing,,,Thank you:laugh2:

Hi Don,,I only cover my presto's if Im not using one and only keeping it on warm and the one Im using that day doesnt get covered at all until Im done for the day. HOWEVER dont forget to TURN them off,,ask me how I know:o LOL,,,I have 3 prestos so far and getting ready for another one woohoo. I do put the covers on all of them at night to keep dust out of them since I live in a small country town with cornfields being harvested and Dust everywhere. As far as residue on the ceilings and walls no problems there either. After I read that I actually went to check it out as I have set-up my lil shop in my computer room and I dont need my computers getting sick either,,LOL,,,,

WOW they are beautiful!!!!

Peaks is Fantastic:drool:

HI Don,,Its okay. We have all done this a time or to when we have gotten excited and wanted to share,,Actually a shipper can ship flat rate up to 70LBs if they wanted too.
I sent a lady in Purerto Rico 5 Flat rate USPS priority boxes each had 10lbs in it for 8.10 and she got it just fine.
At least you jumped in to make things right! Kudos to you Don!!!:highfive:

I use high temp wax, I think you are supposed to use hurricane, but I am not sure, all of mine melted down when I use the larger flicker bulb with regular wax.
That is what I was told also. Hurricane wax. HTH

I use Diamond Dust glitter and Mod Podge. :smiley2:
Ditto here! HI Trae:D

What you are experiencing is called "wet spots" and every candle maker comes across this sooner or later. This usually happens when candles are in cool places such as air conditioning. Go into a wal-mart or k-mart and take a close look and you will find they have them too.
My SIL works at Halmark and this same thing was driving her nuts. She called me and asked why their candles looked funny so I went and took a peek and sure enough even the high dollar candles have the "wet spots"
Prairieannie once told me when I was but a wee newbie to " Embrace your wet spots or it will drive you crazy" It doesnt bother me much anymore since I know what causes it and whats really gonna make ya laugh is,,,it doesnt ALWAYS happen,,, And thats the part that drives ya crazy!!*faint*

Eat 20 bucks for each case of wax you have to ship halfway across the country and make the competition suffer. That does make sense.
Profits on wax sales rightfully belong to the candlemaker anyway. It's about time someone stepped up to force the suppliers to hand it over.
You go Top!!!

I've been working on some new bracelet designs.
It's so hard to get a clear pic because of the shine of the crystals. Hope you get the idea LOL
Hey Val, I was wondering where you went too!!! Your Jewelry is lovely!!!
-
I have been testing a lot was just getting a feel for mixing it. I have tried it many times out of the bag but cant ever get it to look right maybe its me but the tops look bad and the melt is clumpy like cottage cheese. With the extra UA it gives me a great looking top and the burn is more level and constant:confused:.
GREAT!! then go with it! If it works for you and you like your results and it burns well and you have a good Hot/cold Throw and a full melt pool then you have a great recipe. Right it down and you got a keeper!!! GOOD JOB!
-
Yep I get mine at Wal-mart too,,Its canning season too so candle makers and canning peeps are after the jars..LOL...Try all your grocery stores,,they usually stock them too:D
-
I use 444 straight out of the bag,,I have not seen any need to add anymore additives then it has already BUT it is a personal choice. If you want to try it then go ahead and test it out,,Nothing says you cant one way or the other. NO the 444 is nothing like the 464,,,the 464 does NOT have the best throw hot or cold as the 444 does,,,JMHO.
-
I offer both choices. I have some customers that want colors to match their home Decor and others that like the natural look. I also use pryme colors from Barnloft made for soy and they are awesome. http://www.barnloftcandles.com/soy_dyes.html
