  1. Thanks so much for the replies. Well I made two samples one with flax seed which kept warm for a while but did sweat a little when heated. It actually seemed to help with comfort though and had a slight smell but not bad. I also made one with oatmeal and that did not hold heat longer then 10-15 minutes so thats a definite no. I put mine in a muslin sack and made a washable cover for it. I am interested though, with the deer corn wouldn't that be a bit uncomfortable? How long does it hold heat? Where can you buy it in bulk? With the buckwheat does it sweat as well? How long does it hold heat? Thanks again:D
  2. Hmmmm.... im just curious ive heard of salt bars but have no clue how to make them. Are they mainly salt, does it take time to cure, do you need to add lye or other chemicals???? how do you use it???? thanks:undecided
  3. Im not sure if I posted this in the right area so I apologize if I didn't but I need help making a heat wrap for my father for his birthday. I know I can use a sock or make my own type of wrap but I need help with a filler? I've heard of people using rice, flax seeds, and oatmeal. I've also heard that the rice will smell after you heat it 2 or 3 times but havent heard anything about the flax seed or oatmeal. Any help would be appreciated
  4. Welllllll ugly I can deal with, trashing the batch would just be depressing. Thanks for all the advice I will definitely use it in the next batch.
  5. I made a batch the other night using Lavender buds and Chamomile buds (crushed) and when I went to take them out of the mold I noticed the buds turned brownish-black. At first I thought it was mold but then I did a search on here and some people said that it has happened to theirs others said they didn't but they didnt mention if the batch was destroyed or not? Does this effect the soap? Should I toss it? HELP!!!!! :undecided
  6. I actually just started posting some of my items on etsy I never heard of it before until I started googling soap supplies and found it to be a great site. 7. Thanks for the advice I'll definitely look into those products, I'm just trying to come up with as many vegan products as I can to target that area especially because of my family and half the products we've bought have been too oily or too dry and haven't smelled the best either. Why can't the vegans have a variety too.....soooo I'm trying to give it to them.
  8. I need help, I need to try to come up with a Vegan milk bath. Obviously I can't use powdered milk due to it being dairy and I've never seen a soy powdered milk???? Then there's coming up with a recipe which isn't that hard but looking for advice and help any would be appreciated.
  9. Hmmmm. I make hand made soap thus the screen name, mainly trying to focus on vegan since I have vegans in the family and its hard to find good products, I also make soy candles and tarts, bath products (salts, bombs, cookies, lotions, etc.) I also crochet afghans, baby blankets, scarves, wash cloths, anything really.....hand paint decor, floral arrangements, beaded jewelry..... lets just say a lot to pass the time and for enjoyment
  10. Thanks everyone for the great advice, I will definetly use it!!!! :highfive: I just want to make sre nothings falsely labeled so that would be the way to go my main concern is the VEGAN part now I try to make sure I make products for vegans since 1/2 my family is and it's hard to find good vegan products but I will focus less on the ORGANIC part.
  11. Need soap selling and labeling advice. I've been listing my soap as 100% organic vegan soap and I had another soaper tell me thats false listing because there's always chemicals, E.O.'s and F.O's and dyes in them. Well I've been spending ALOT of money on my ingredients to make sure theyre 100% organic. I've been going over this over and over again in my head...all my oils are 100% USDA, same with the butters, and I only use organic E.O's not to mention it's been dyed if at all dyed with things like 100% organic blueberries to get a tint of blue.....other than that there's the lye....whih is there any way to get organic because I havent found it all ive found which I've never really known is that its tree ashes? I don't want to falsely label my soaps and would appreciat ANY advice.
  12. Maybe a stupid question, but are all of you talking about 100% soy wax that you can use to make soy candles. Ive been making soy candles for a while now and have been starting B & B products as well. It would come in very handy if I could use the same inventory.
  13. Thanks so much for the advice, does anyone know if theres any other salts that might be stonger than epsom?
  14. Thank you for the reply. I've made bath salts with epsom before I just didn't know if there was any others that had the same if not better effect theres so many kinds I get lost I didn't know about the E.O. and I can't really talk to my fathers Dr. since he lives in MI. and I'm in FL. My dad doesn't know about this because I was going to make him a care package to send him for his birthday in late Jan. I appreciate your advice on the epsom though that's all I've been using
  15. My father just started something like chemo and is making him very fatigued plus VERY sore. My goal is to find something great to make to help aid him with this and figured a good bath salt would be good so he could soak I thought about massage oils but I know it would be a waste because he wouldn't use it. Thanks!
  16. Let me know how it turns out my hands are SOOOOOO dry and have tried everything nothing seems to help, plus I only use plant based ingredients.
