  1. People still do use the tealight burners I personally use a bulb one but I use a 40 watt bulb in mine and never had any melt not melt. I also sell burners that use the higher wattage.

One for you to try is the plug in burner thay use a 15 watt bulb but because they are so small they get hotter than a 25 watt regular burner.

Just FYI you can use a 40 watt bulb in the burner that come with a 25 watt bulb.

Thanks Vicky for the info. I'm going to go look for a replacement bulb at Home Depot or Lowe's.

  2. Do people still use these as much as electric burners? My problem is I really like palm wax tarts, the throw and the look of the tarts are amazing but I just bought an electric melter with a light bulb(25w) and it's taking forever to melt these. I also have a tealight melter and it works quick and it's amazing. I haven't tried just the electric melters yet.

I want to stick with palm but is it really worth it? I posted pics on facebook and my shipmates(I'm in the Navy) loved them and want to buy them(not anywhere close to selling) but they all have scentsy warmers because we have a guy on the ship who sells it for his wife and people buy that crap like crazy from him. I want them to test for me but if they are using their warmers I'm screwed.

  3. I know I've seen a few posts here about people who make palm wax clamshells but my search hasn't resulted in what I'm looking for. I tried this but I forgot that palm wax is so hot so when I poured it around 190/200ish it disfigured my clamshells.

I want to know if anyone makes Palm clamshells. If so what temp do you pour? Do you sell them? Do they stay as well as the individual tarts?

  4. Hey I'm currently testing my votives and I believe I picked the wrong wick. I thought I read somewhere(or misread) that CSN 9 were good. Tested the first one, albeit not in a holder, and it did burn like half the votive in about an hour and a half.

I was told to try CDN 6 but I can't seem to find that anywhere.

Any suggestions for 2 oz Palm Granite votives wick?

  5. Hello everyone.

I finally got all my supplies to start making candles again.

Doing Palm wax this time around. Was fun but crazy. I was sorta rushing myself to pour before they cooled off too much.

Here are some pics of the wax melts and votives.

I'm using the #5801A Pillar Palm Wax with Blue dye and Bird of Paradise from Candlescience.

    Definitely a different smell.

Now I just need testers haha.

  6. Since it is container wax, I am not sure. It is hard enough that I guess it is possible to pop out of the clamshells easily. I use the starburst and feather palm pillar wax for my tarts. If I get time, I'll try and see.

Thanks for the reply. I'm in a big toss up over what wax to use to do tarts. Need a west coast supplier and Peak's shipping is really reasonable. Plus I LOVE the way Palm wax looks.

  7. kforbs126...to the left of their web page it lists shipping options. They use priority flat rate for most so it makes it really reasonable!

Ravens, Loren said that the tart wax in pellet form is the same wax as before but by a different manufacturer

He did give some suggestions tho...must say he offers excellent customer service!

Thanks, oddly enough about 5 mins after I posted this he replied to the email. It's $40 shipping from Oregon. That pushes up the wax at 120 a case which seems crazy to pay. I'm almost about to give up before I even start.

  8. Genwax is cheap shipping to Arizona so I use them too. The containers are affordable and shipping cheap.

As for the wax, the paraffin is all imported in bulk from China. You'll have to add vybar and whatnot if you want to load the FO. Raw the wax at Genwax has a tough time going over about 4 to 6 percent FO load.

I found that mixing it a bit with some IGI like the Harmony made for a great throwing wax. I tend to keep some of the Genwax 128 on hand for that purpose. The higher MP wax is kinda OK for cut n curl or hurricanes. But the cut/curl needs a microcrystaline additive (which Genwax sells).

Yaley can supply you from Redding (or Redlands?) area. I think they have about the same stuff as Genwax.

There is an IGI supplier in Oregon that might ship cheap to you. Letitshineusa.com or something like that. They're the only place where I can get a good taper wax.

Thank You for all the info.

Do you know anything about the C1 or C3 they sell? I'm just looking to make tarts. I'm willing to make a drive up there. I'm just really quite disappointed that California has 1 supplier.

  9. I'm trying to get opinions on this wax for melts(tarts). Since I'm extremely limited on local suppliers in the So Cal area. This is one wax that Gen Wax carries. I've searched but can't find much info on this board. Any opinions count.

  10. So I've been gone for many years. 4 years active duty Navy and a few deployments later I would love to get back into candle making (just tarts though).

    Kforbs-

For the past 12 years I have used the 4794 for my tarts. Other folks on here do blends..someone on here blended 4625 and 4786 @ 50/50 which I am going to try myself one of these days soon.

I personally also want to THANK YOU SO SO MUCH for YOUR service to our Country and keeping us safe...God Bless You!!!! We appreciate your sacrifice and your families' sacrifice and I just wanted you to know that! Welcome back home HERO!!!!:yay:

Thank you for the very kind words :)

  11. So I've been gone for many years. I previously had a small candle business going in Florida and then eventually Ohio. 4 years active duty Navy and a few deployments later I would love to get back into candle making (just tarts though).

Obviously I need to start over with testing and etc. I currently live in San Diego but I've searched and it doesn't seem like there are any wax suppliers out in Cali. Unless I'm missing something. I don't even know what wax to start with, just preferably tart wax.

Costs have obviously gone up but I would need a supplier close to San Diego or California in general. Any help would be appreciated to get me started back up. I've had the itch for a few months and really want to get back into it.

  12. Just curious if anyone uses them. I just found them and they are in Cleveland, less than an hour from me, I was thinking about picking up some Ecosoya from them to try out. It would save me $13 a 50# box to go pick up plus they have really cheap jars and supplies.

Only bad thing is they aren't open on the weekends for pickups and I work during the week :cry2:

Shipping was actually more than it would be from where I currently get my wax in NC.
