  1. So does the inside insert come out so I could put it on scale to weigh wax? Also what are your typical batch sizes? Right now I use old fashioned metal pitchers. Two at once, and they hold up to four lbs each. But I personally fill them up to three lbs. So one run I can make six lbs, two different fragrances. Is it easy to clean?

Not sure what you're talking about as far as an "inside insert". There is a metal insert that comes with it, but I use that as a strainer for veggies. I just use a plastic container to weigh my wax and then dump it in the pot. I make 1/2 lb or 1 lb batches since I am only a hobbyist. Cleaning is as simple as wiping the pot out with a paper towel.

  2. I have 2, Karen. One with a spout (but never use the spout), and one without. Both are worn out, though. (That's why you see some little specks of black in some of my tarts.) After 6 years, the finish starts to erode from all of that stirring. When I took my new one out of the box last night, I was happy to be able to throw out one of my pots. I may see if the interior on the spouted one looks bad, and if so, I will probably just toss it, too. I really only need one anyway.

  3. Well, either I missed the sale at K-Mart, or they didn't offer it here in New Mexico. Earlier this week I made a mental note to stop by and pick one up, but when I got there yesterday, the price was $35. This morning I went to Walmart and they were OOS. Next off to Target only to find they don't carry them. So...had hubby run me by a different Walmart tonight before we went to dinner and I finally got my new Presto Pot...$28.94 or something like that. At this point, I'm so glad to have a new Presto Pot that I don't even care that I paid full price. Can't wait to break it in tomorrow morning! :-)

  4. Thanks for posting this. I could definitely use a new Presto Pot!

I have the same two that I bought 6 years ago when I started making candles and tarts. I had my hubby put a spigot on one, but I never used it (I feel bad for wasting his time.) I don't sell and only make small 1/2 lb or 1 lb batches of tarts, so I just lift the pot up by the handles and pour the wax into my pyrex measuring cup.

  5. Almost positive that you are talking about Front Porch's Bodacious Blackberry. She just stopped selling FOs, so looks like none of us can get any more. :-(

I had a small amount and it was great alone and as a blender. I have tried both Haley's Heavenly Scents' Blackberry scents and Front Porch's Blackberry scents. Both smelled exactly the same to my nose.

  6. I'm really wanting to find this Serendipity FO, too.

Cupid (BNL) - This one is a must-smell! It's a rich, cherry almond coconuty scent! It's awesome in a candle, soaps and B&B products! It's such a soothing, comforting fragrance. I find myself slathering on the bath and body products with this fragrance in the winter. I just love it and know you will too! Many of our customers tell us it reminds them of that comforting scent of Original Jergen's lotion.

JS Serendipity - This is a super sweet concoction that will totally win you over! Sweet, thick, creamy vanilla with confectioners sugar sweet cherry, sweet orange citrus and the tiniest amount of yummy fresh coconut. This is a rich and wonderfully decadent sinfully sweet delight! Excellent in soy and bath and body safe! 200 FP.

The "almond" note in the BCN/BNL scent description has me thrown off. Also, it doesn't mention the orange/citrus at all. I am so curious that I may have to get samples of each to try for myself. I'm not sure I can wait to hear Leisa's results. :-)

  7. Sorry, Karen. :-)

I made one solitary purchase from Only Fragrance before they closed up shop. Honestly, I wasn't too impressed with their FO, so it was no big deal to me that they are out of business. I've got a few tarts left made with it and maybe another ounce of the FO. I'm happy to send you a couple so you can see what Dessa is all excited about, okay?

  8. I soaped suede tonight....so far I am loving how it is smelling. Unfortunately, I made it in a mostly olive oil soap...so going to be awhile before I can use it. It sure smells great though!

I had no issues at all soaping it....rtcp, 33% lye solution, olive, co, castor, no color.

What a beautiful batch of soap! :-)
