I don't know about the wick, but holy cow! $32 for a 5.5 oz. candle?!!!

I've never done a fundraiser but I print my own brochures. You can download a template off the Microsoft website and play around with it until you are satisfied. If you have a digital camera, you can even insert some photos of your products on your brochure as well. Send it out to friends, family, neighbors, co-workers. You may be able to generate sales this way without having to jump into a fundraiser before you are ready for it.

What a LUCKY lady! One is just as beautiful as the next:D

People make firestarters out of different things ... pinecones, potpourri, wood chips, etc. I fragrance leftover wax with cinnamon FO then mix with hamster litter (the pine shavings). I scoop it into little paper cups, such as the kind you put mints or nuts in at a wedding shower, top off with some dollar store potpourri for looks, insert leftover wick pieces, and let them set up. I use soy wax and my experience has been that the wax pretty much burns away.

Good luck on the grand opening of your shop. Wishing you many, many years of success! You're living many of our dream! Be sure to post pics when you have time. Knock 'em dead!!!
All the best,

Your candles are beautiful! Love them!

I thought I was losing my eyesight and went to reach for my glasses ... glad it wasn't just me who thought those candles on their home page were Yankees!
-
Those are gorgeous! I especially like the emerald ones!!!
-
I think it's a good idea as well!

step 5: kiss all your extra money good bye! it will be spent on candle supplies from here to eternity! or until you quit.
LOL! How true!!!
Seriously, what SnowCow said. And welcome to the addiction of candle making!

I'm precise when it comes to making my candles. It's the only way to keep everything consistent and to keep good records in my candle notebook!
-
What a unique idea! I really love that candle!
-
I use a little bit of fragrance oil, too!

I just poured container candles today using this fragrance. AWESOME cold throw ... waiting to see how the hot throw will be, although I have faith it will be just as good. I couldn't stop sniffing each and every candle as I was labeling them!!!

I have been packaging sets of container candles in crates and then shrink wrapping them. However, I did not have an impulse sealer and found it very difficult to shrink wrap without one. Today the light bulb finally went off! I have a Seal-A-Meal in my kitchen and it suddenly dawned on me that the sealer part of this gadget (without using the vacuum) just might work to seal the shrink wrap. Needless to say, it worked PERFECTLY to seal the ends of my packaging before I shrunk it with my heat gun. I just sat thinking to myself, "Why didn't I think of this sooner?!":rolleyes2

I use a good digital scale and weigh out my FO that way.

That is one BEAUTIFUL pillar!

Gotta love those one-pour waxes!

Do you mean the shreds you use as basket filler? If so, I have seen that at Dollar Tree.

I use Ecosoya VB for my tarts and have never had that problem. However, I do not use an electric warmer. Maybe the wattage of your bulb is too low?
-
I am not familiar with that particular wax but I use Ecosoya votive blend with good results. The tarts pop right out of the mold, even scalloped molds. For me, container wax has been too soft to use in the tart molds ... too difficult to remove from the molds. Is your wax container wax or votive wax?

I do both ... mix in the presto and mix in the pour pot. Just depends on what I'm doing. If I'm making several different scents in one day, I'll just have my pots melting wax and mix the FO's and dyes in the pour pots. If I'm just working on one particular scent, I'll do all the mixing in the presto. No problem with cleaning up ... just wipe clean with a paper towel, then I use a soapy rag to wipe clean and dry with a towel.

My experience has been that hey have good customer service, prompt delivery, and the waxes and oils are of good quality. I don't think you'd go wrong using them!

I found those cups at Hobby Lobby. I need to get more ... tried the cupcake liner type but they were too flimsy for my liking!:undecided
Dye Question

I use the liquid dye myself. I have never tried the dye blocks. I am very satisfied with the colors the liquid dyes produce and find the liquid mixes very well in my wax.
