  1. ah-soy~ Ooooh, I get it..lol:D What a dork I am.. It's been a long day, I'm a little slow! Maybe I will pick some up and try them out, and I will go to MICHAEL'S to get a warmer Fred Meyers has the jars for $3.99 for 4. Is that a good price? I haven't checked Walmart yet.. Sharon
  2. Bruce-Ya, that's what I thought..Maybe I will do some wickless with them.. Patience-Where do I go to look at your store for the warmers? I didn't see a website.. Thanks! Sharon
  3. Oh, no! That's terrible..I'm sorry..:undecided What an expensive mistake to make.. I bet you won't do that again...lol Sharon
  4. OK, I'm the one that brought it up... I will say what I have to say and move on. I'm not trying to start something or cause an uproar, but I was offended by the comment that was made to me. It was my underatanding that on this particular post they were asking opinions on ordering form BC. I gave mine. It wasn't bad, I was just dissapointed with the shipping time.. I never said ChrisR wasn't helpful, I'm sure she is and I'm sure she is very knowledgeable! . "Obviously your new to candlemaking or you would know you need to order by October" and "Maybe next year you'll learn" that doesn't sound rude to you? Rude is rude, I don't know how you can take it any other way! Assuming I am new to candle making then how would I know I needed to order by October?? I appreciate all the help, advise and tips you guys give. It is very nice that there is a lot of people that take time to help us!..But there is a lot of information to take in and it's overwhelming in the beggining. That doesn't mean we haven't been reading the posts and doing the research. If you "oldtimers" are so annoyed and feel like we not listening or have a "stupid" question then why don't you just skip that post? You say you don't have time to baby us, but you have time to stop and make an "honest" comment! You were once a newbie as well and I'm sure had lots of stupid questions! Sharon
  5. Your right I am new to candle making and I have mentioned that several times in other posts. All I was saying was that comapred to the other places I ordered from BC was very slow in shipping.. I was in no way bashing BC, I'm sure I will order from them again. What I don't understand is why so many people have to make a rude comment to someone's post? I see it all the time.. Did I really offend you that much, that you had to make sure I looked like a dumb ass for not knowing I should have ordered in Octocber? I'm afraid to to ask for help or respond to a post for fear I'm going to get my friggin head bit off.. What gives?? :undecided Sharon
  6. Laser is waterproof. You don't need to use special labels. I can't find the right word i'm looking for, but the ink is basically melted onto the paper and it shouldn't come off. That's one of the nice things about laser printers. I use them all the time for water bottles for my business and have never has one run.. Good luck! Sharon
  7. That's a good idea .. Now, I have an excuse to go buy them.. The wickless are the ones you put on the warmers, right? Is that how you use them? Where do you purchase the warmers? The only ones I have seen are at Michael's and they look like coffee cup warmers.. Thanks! Sharon
  8. Oh ya, didn't really think of that, that the candle probably wouldn't last very long... They are so darn cute, I want to buy them..
  9. I just ordered from them as well for the first time. They seemed to be highly recommended. But I must say I am very dissapointed with the shipping time. I ordered early last week and my order isn't even scheduled to be delivered until Friday the 15th! I ordered a few items from other companies the same day also from the east coast (I'm in Oregon) and I already have those orders.. I want my stuff... Sharon
  10. Kymber, Yes, I think they were the Ball Elite... They had silver lids and came 4 to a package. do you think they are to short for a wick? Bruce, they are REALLY short, I would say they are more flat then fat...lol:D Sharon
  11. Hi, I am new to candle making. I just got all my supplies and have been reading my a-- off.. I'm excited and hope to get started in the next couple days. I was looking at jars today and I saw some cool looking 8oz jars at Fred Meyers. They were 8oz wide mouth jelly jars. I think they were called contemperary elite, but the were really short and wide. My question is do you think they would be ok to use for my container candles? I wasn't sure if they would be deep enough for them to burn correctly. Is there a rule as to how deep they need to be? I wish I had a pic to show you. Has anybody seen these? Thank you in advance for you help! Sharon
  12. I saw some of the filling trays at sks-bottle.com under lip balm supplies. I'm sorry, I would post the link but I don't know how to..I'm new here... The tray comes with 24 free natural lip balm tubes.. I have not made any lip balm yet(although,I am dying to. I am a lip balm junkie! ) but it looks like it would be a big help. Sharon
  13. Country Creek~ What is your favorite blend and where do you get it from? I would like to do the glass jar containers. What's a good wick to start out with? Can you recommend some? Thank you much! Sharon
  14. Thanks Diana! I had a feeling..lol I already have a business doing custom candy wrappers, candy bouquets and other personalized gifts and that has become very addicting!! My husbands going to kill me.. How do I know if I am making them right and that they are safe to give away and or sell? Is there certain guidelines to go by to know if the wick is burning correctly and you have a correct melt pool (is that what's called..lol) Being a newbie How would I know if it's buring good and has a good scent throw, etc.. I know I sound dumb, but I want to do it right and know what I am doing. I do want to be able to add candles to my existing business... Thanks! Sharon
  15. OK, thank you, I will go check it out.. Sharon
  16. Hi, Thanks everybody for responding, I appreciate your help! I looked at the link to find a local supplier and was very bummed to see that there are NO local suppliers in my area! I live in Oregon and according to that site they are all soap making suppliers :cry2: I thought it would be cool to actually go to a store a check everything out, talk to the sales staff and also save on shipping.. What is the difference and/or the benefit of using 50/50 instead of plain soy? Is 50/50 half soy, half parafin? I guess what evers going to be easiest to start off with. Is "creme" wax something totally different. I guess I am confused as to all the different types of wax and the differences in them.. Oh boy, my head is spinning already and I haven't even gotten started yet!..lol Sharon
  17. Hi, I am new to the board and new to candle making. I have been wanting to try it for some time now and have been intimidated by it all..lol But I think I am ready to go for it! I have been reading a lot on the board and am excited to get started.. I want to start with the jar candles I think and was wondering if you could tell me what exactly I would need to get started and give this a try. I think I want to do the soy wax candles. Is that recommended for a newbie? I don't want to start with something that way above me and get discourged.. I am very confused as to all the different kinds of wicks. I know it says to try several and see what you like, but I wouldn't even know what to start with. Is there additives I would have to add to the soy wax? I know I need the Presto pot and jars,FO,wax,wicks..Anything else? where do you recommend I get my supplies from.. I know A lot of questions, sorry..:undecided Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you!! Sharon
