  1. 1. What was the first candle you made and how did it turn out? It's been almost a year and a half ago and it was a 8oz mason jar made with a slab of wax from Hobby Lobby, Yales wick, scent and dye block from Hobby Lobby. Turned out pretty bad. Horrible melt pool (wax was definitely not made for containers) and it just looked bad. The fragrance and color weren't too bad though all things considered (peach color and peach fragrance).

    2. What resources did you use to research candle making? Internet and this board, which, this board has been my MOST valuable tool...without it I would definitely be where I am today

    3. Did you use dyes and FO on your first? yes

    4. Do you have a special room or space you use exclusively for your candle making (basement, garage, etc...), or do you use your kitchen?

    Unfortunately, my kitchen

    5. Any suggestions on how I should start (maybe what you think is the "easiest" to make)? Thats up to you, but I would get a starter kit from Peaks or somewhere else...I never got a kit and looking back it would have been a great idea

    6. Have any tips that I have not found on this site that may be helpful?

If its not on this site, then you don't need to know!!! LOL

    7. If you could only make one type kind of candle for the rest of your life, what would that be? Hmmm...containers I guess but then again I haven't tried any other type

    8. What is your ultimate candle, the greatest candle you dream of making (and have not yet)? A hurricane

  2. WTF??? My husband is an avid hunter, and I reluctantly admit that I have more than one smelled doe-in-heat scent, but to put it in a freaking candle? Why would you do that? The only thing I can think of is maybe the intent was to soap it since hunters will spray that scent on there clothes and shoes anyway:undecided

  3. I have a sample of White Cake from JS and Buttercreme Frosting. I haven't tried them yet, but I have a request for a candle that smells "just like icing off of a cake." Any suggestions? I personally think the Ultimate Vanilla from JS smells like cake, but not icing.:undecided

  4. OK...update. I just talked to my friend, and she said, and I quote "the wick was really tall still and all the paraffin was gone, just the tall wick was burning, thats why it got so hot." OMG...she hadn't been trimming the wick at all and then left it burning that long?!?!?!? Geesh, I guess I fill a little better about it now, except for the fact that if she burns like that, I'm sure others do as well:undecided

  5. I'm totally freaking out right now. I just got an email from one of my friends who bought a pumpkin jar with the hat from me. She said that the jar cracked...didn't say if it ruined anything just said it cracked and that she now understand why you shouldn't leave a burning candle unattended:sad2: When I tested these jars they didn't crack on me. I tested all the way to the bottom with two different wicks. She does burn her candles ALL DAY LONG though, so I am thinking that is the problem. OK...just need to relax now...thanks for listening:cry2:

  6. I bought a sample of BC's lotion base. I added some Blackberry Freesia FO and I LOVE it. It isn't greasy at all and that Fo smells wonderful. Also, it was really easy to make. With this base, you don't have to add anything but FO to it. Not sure about other bases, b/c BC is the only one I have tried.

Thanks Angela...I am going to have to try this. It may be easier than trying to order from someone else. I will keep you posted!

  7. OK...this has been covered many times before I know, but I have a little different question than before. I know that if you package these in the polypro bags everything is fine and the scent won't or shouldn't fade. I also know that if you store them in a plastic container with a 5 on the bottom, everything is ok. So, my question is, and this may be dumb, will storing them in glass containers make the scent fade? I put all of my tarts, individually by scent, in glass jars from the dollar store and that is how I displayed them at the craft show I did. I have left them in there, thinking this wouldn't be a big deal, but I am now wondering if I need to move them all back to the rubbermaid containers. Any thoughts?

  8. LOL...I kind of like prank phone calls!!! Anyway, get this...I just got an email from Becky explaining the mix up. On top of resending the order, she also said that with the next order I place, I will get a free sample pack! Woohooo!!! This lady is wonderful:yay:

  10. OMG Deniese...I wonder if you got mine!! I received my order from Just Scent yesterday, but 5 of the 10 samples I ordered weren't in their, and the extras I ordered where the Pink ones which I didn't get either! I did have like 18 or 19 oils, though. I just shot Becky an email about 30 minutes ago asking her why I didn't get the ones I had ordered, then checked my email and noticed another package had been shipped to me from her and will arrive tomorrow. Hmmmm.....I bet I will be getting the ones I ordered after all! This is so funny. Did you by chance get Cinnamon Cider, Intoxicating, Pink Bombshell, White Cake, My Secret Recipe? If so, I think we have solved the mystery!!
