  1. I'm learning and buying from several suppliers for fo. I know that just like anything, people have different opinions and different experiences with everything. However, I was looking at ebay items, and a seller had a lot of fo on sale. Her description had the comment in it to the effect that her stuff was top quality from top quality suppliers. She ended it with the comment--none of that gemlite crap. Was this just a grudge comment, or is there something wrong with that supplier?

Sounds like a grudge and not very professional. Although I haven't used that supplier so I have no idea how their fo's are. Before I bought any fo's I would certainly want to know who the supplier is and not take an ebay sellers word that they were " top quality ".

One thing I did was sign up for the newsletter on many suppliers sites so that I get an e-mail telling me of sales. As others have said, try the 1 or 2 oz samples first. Lately a lot of suppliers have been having the $1.00 per 1 oz sample sale and this is the way to go for an economical way to try a lot of different oils.

  2. Are you Serious???!!!

Who in the world carries THAT???

Inquiring Hoosier minds just gotta know!

(wonder if it would it be possible to do an overdip to mask the true "fragrance" until lit?--I'm thinking of anonymous "gifts" for a few of my "favorite" people--my ex, my ex MIL, my ex SIL......:naughty: )

    LMAO

Can you imagine the look on someone's face once the overdip burned through???

  3. if you dont use a uv inhibitor try getting into the shade... my first time out i didnt think of that and some colors faded...

What everyone else said plus even with UV the direct sunlight can make them start fading right before your eyes. ( ask me how I know :cool2: )

  4. I guess they must be quite selective on who can join. I was wondering though, how you would find someone to vouch for you if you couldn't get in there to see who the members are and see if you know anyone. Other than doing it through other boards like this, of course.

That is a very good question, not to mention all of the people that don't belong to any forums at all. I use to go there on occasion to read but I haven't tried to join since you need someone to vouch for you.

  5. Shutter did you ever find a use for these?

BTW - I about spit my drink out when I read this. OMG how funny. Why? Because I do that!! I do use mine too (in bath teas and foot butter) but stuff is funny when you relate. For some reason it just cracked me up. I didn't realize this was an old thread. Apparently I've been sniffing too many menthol crystals.

Anyone want to come over and look through my shelves and tell me why I bought 1/2 the stuff I did?? I can so relate too. ( I should list in the classy's as bought for unknown reason )

  6. As far as I know dendritic salt is to keep the salt free flowing. I don't see how they could be swapped out, but I do see how you could maybe swap the dead for regular sea or solar salts?

I agree, you should be able to swap out the dead sea salt for sea salt which you can get at the grocery store.

Didn't know about the Dendritic being irritating to the skin. I found that using a couple of tsp. of Natrasorb Bath( with the fo incorporated ) mixed in with the salts makes a big difference in holding the fragrance.

  7. This co. is actually Camden Grey, I use some of their eo's and other B&B stuff and was considering trying some of their fo's next time I place an order. Good co. to do business with but I can't comment on the fo's. If you get some let me know how they are. ( It's nice that they have soap reviews for all of them )

  8. Okay I made up my mind. I had to think about it for a minute. I like the Tangelo Treasure. If that doesn't work then I am going with Florida Sunrise.

    Thanks again.

I vote for the Tangelo only because the sunrise reminds me of Tequila:D

  9. There have been occasions when from various suppliers ( that I can't remember because they got marked off my list ) I would get an outstanding 1 oz sample only to have the larger size smell like it had in fact been cut because it didn't smell or throw as well. As I said they are marked off my lists of fo suppliers.

  10. I could be wrong ( darn sure wouldn't be the first time ) but here in FL the salt will somewhat liquefy because of the humidity. I haven't made them with the salt and wouldn't because of that. If after 5 days you still have wet corncob then (1) leave out the salt and use vermiculite or orris root instead and (2) go ahead and add a few more tablespoons of corn cob to the mix.

By the way, good luck on selling those. Hope the truckers love them.

  11. CC, I'm with you, I want a knock you down hot throw in my candles. I experiment a lot and have gone up to 2oz per lb at times. Some waxes just wont hold that kind of fo load and need to be pulled back to 1.5 oz. Other wise you will get the smoking and some seeping. I know I read a lot and people say that if they can't get a good throw with 1 oz then they just wont use that oil. ( if I were running a business then I would probably agree 100% since profit is the bottom line.) When I load it up and try different wicks and waxes with other fo's then like you I have to conclude that it's the oil. But then again what we each consider a " great " hot throw is subjective. As soon as I get my new case of wax :wink2: I will also try the indonesian teak and let you know how it works for me at different ratios.

  12. Candlewic is the only palm I use and I've never had a problem with it coming out of the mold. Not sure why some people do? I'm telling you, for me it shrinks a lot and flies out. Maybe I've been lucky and the batches I have are different from some others. Also another difference for me is maybe because I almost always mix palm 2 and 3 together.

  13. Dyna Eggs or bombs? I'm not sure what they are called but my daughter really want's to order some for my grandson. She saw them in WalMart and can't remember what they are called but it looks like a bathbomb with a toy in it as it melts. I thought I had seen something like that on here but a search did not find it. Can you help? Thanks

  14. I know that there is a thread here somewhere and someone was asking a very similar question like the "Golden Brands" being sold by suppliers and renamed. This was on the all soy. ( sorry I can't find the thread)

I'm pretty sure that the blends are probably different for each supplier because say, supplier A, takes soy B, and blends it with paraffin C, to a ratio of D, plus adds in additives E, to ratio F, then it becomes their exclusive blend. The bad part of using an exclusive blend is in the event the supplier goes out of business and doesn't sell their recipe to another supplier then you are now looking for a new wax to test etc. etc.. Also it's hard to price shop when your wax comes from just one supplier.

All that said ( with this incessant rambling:cheesy2: ) I am currently testing "Greenleafs" 70/30 parasoy blend and I like it a lot!!
