  1. How many of you freeze your butters? I put my butters in the freezer, and when I need some I just chip off the amount I need and put the rest back in the freezer. This has worked very well for me, but I have decided not to do B&B any longer, so I have these butters sitting in my freezer that I'd like to sell in the classifieds. My question is, they will probably thaw getting from here to there and I don't know what that might to to the quality of them. Any ideas? Not sure of all that I have, but I'm pretty sure I have Babassu, Mango, Golden Shea, Unrefined Shea, Cocoa, and maybe a few others. TIA

Sorry Jerri, I did in fact read more than the title but didn't answer your question.

A few years ago here I think it was Carmen that did a shea butter co-op during the summer.

She froze the butter, double bagged it in ziplocks, packed it in peanuts and shipped it out on a Monday ( to avoid sitting in a warehouse )

No one reported any problems and mine was still solid when it arrived from Ill to Fl

The box was not soggy, the shea was not grainy.

I would think that any of the butters would be fine to ship frozen, make sure you double bag and secure and the peanuts help to insulate so use them freely.

  2. Okay, I'm seeing why it's a good reason to read all through a thread before posting:grin2:

I posted May 2007 and then posted again May 2008 using the same person's quote and said almost exactly the same thing.

Can you tell that I still like the Red Banana?

  3. Cucumber Chaos~True and strong cucumber scent

    Herbal Rosemary~Great Rosemary..very true.

    Pumpkin Coffee~Awesome scent!

Vanilla Voodoo~ I like Millcreeks Extreme Vanilla just as good

These were all strong throwers for me in CB135.

The only one that I have gotten there that was a complete DUD was RED BANANA. Absolutely no hot or cold throw...nothing!

Still looking for a great banana scent!

Wow, I'm shocked that it didn't throw for you. I use 70/30 and it throws like mad! In fact it's one of my personal favorites.

  4. My sister despises the Pink Sugar. On the other hand, I have a friend who burns PS tarts, wears the scent in a body spray, and uses it as a room spray. I don't like the musk in the scent, but the sugary-vanilla base is so delicious that I can overlook it. I use Scent-Works', and it's one of the strongest scents I've ever tried-it can definitely be overbearing if too much is used.

Yes it's the background note of musk that gags me and it's why I still have a lb. of the stuff.

I remember when everyone was wearing that perfume ( it was Jovan Musk I think ) and it gives me an instant headache and severe nausea. BLECH

  5. I use Candlewics palm and I tried and tried to successfully wick a 2" pillar and NEVER found the right wick. Either it blew out the sides or the flame was too small and died as it burned down.

That was several years ago and I got so frustrated that I finally put it on the back burner for another day ( which hasn't arrived yet:undecided )

Hope you have better luck than I did.

( Hey Fern, do you remember "those" days? I think it drove us both nuts for a while )

  6. Back before the advent of liquid soap I had to use baby shampoo because any and all bar soaps would have the same effect of itching and huge welts all over my body.

When I started making soap I was leary of using it but there was no way I was going to give a bar away without testing it first.

Much to my surprise it did fine, no itching or welts.

    Try some castile as suggested.

  7. "Natrasorb Bath" is excellent to incorporate oils and fragrance to add to your bath teas.

Something I found with the heat sealed tea bags is they would often break open during my bath ( not fun ) so now I use the small organza bags for them and you can rinse them out and reuse.

  8. I prefer alphabetically! If you go to sites that have oils listed in categories I hate having to wade through every category to find something. You are put at the discretion of the person filing these oils under whatever categories they decide but what if I'm looking for something and figure it would be under a certain category and I look and its not there so I move on, but in reality it is on the site, just under a different category..see what I mean. Aphabetically for me!

Same here. I want them all right there in order not split up into categories. Makes me nuts when I'm trying to shop.

  9. I'm in central Florida about 15 min. from the beach and the most requested are coconut and melon types for the summer and fruity types for the winter. No one ever ask for florals and only occasionally does anyone want a bakery smell. I think it's because we haven't had a cold winter in quite a while ( by cold I mean low 40's , high 30's :P )

  10. Palm container wax, after burning and cooling the melt pool will be a slightly different color. Some colors it is more noticeable than in others.

Like Candle Science told you, it is the nature of the wax. No one has ever complained about it so I don't consider it a big deal.

Same with wet spots, they are caused by temperature changes and there is absolutely nothing you can do to prevent them from showing up at some point and time.
