  1. HTP wicks seem to work best with Soy. I would use HTP 104 or HTP 105 for that size. And yes, you can totally remelt wax and re-pour. I do it all the time! Mama:D
  2. Try HTP-104 from Peaks. I have had great luck with these. Mama:tiptoe:
  3. I use an HTP 1212 from Peaks in my 4" apothecary jars. That's using advanced soy and 1% bees wax with 1 oz. fo per #. Perfect burn pool every time! Mama:D
  4. I make tea lights with soy container or pillar wax. I use HTP 31 wicks. Works great and they last about 8 hrs. each. Mama
  5. Mine tend to frost when they get cold. I say it adds character!
  6. I have tried them and have been happy with them. I don't really think they are more intense, however. Some of the fragrances are naturally more intense that others and I regulate those, but generally I use 1 oz/lb., as I do with other brands. The quality of the ultimate fo's is very good and the fragrances are beautiful. I do recommend them for the quality. mama:o
  7. Depending on where you live Uline has good stuff too! Mama:p
  8. I actually gave up on pillars. Probably just my technique but they always seemed to crack partway down a spill everywhere!!! I tried for 2 years. Anyway, not your question, just me venting my frustration. Good Luck! Mama:o
  9. What do you mean by it looking strange? Did you change companies?
  10. Thanks so much for all the input! I tried ordering from C and S but the shipping would have cost almost as much as the jars!!! It's good to know about the size issue, as well. I will continue my quest... Mama:confused:
  11. I have used the advanced and have had great luck. However, I have found that I need to wick up as it doesn't seem to melt all the way around. mama:p
  12. I didn't see the pumpkins at Gen Wax, but they certainly do have some beautiful jars that I will keep in mind for the future. I'll give the other joint a try and see if they will redeem themselves! Thanks again! mama:D
  13. YOU THE MAN CANDLE MAN!! Thanks! Mama:wink2:
  14. Well, it's that time of year again, and this time I'm thinking ahead (for once!) However, I am having a hard time finding pumpkin candle containers!!! I had a source at one time and now they don't seem to carry them anymore. Anybody out there know a good place I can get some, preferably on the West Coast? Mama:undecided
  15. I use frosted apothecary for my candles and everyone loves them. I like the apothecary because for me they are easier to label. Mama:D
  16. I'm in Brookings, OR right on the border of CA. The sun has been out for 2 whole days now!! One things for sure, when you live out here you definately appreciate the sun more than most people! Forecast calls for sun all week! I'm not sure how much candle making I'll be doing. Might need to work on the ol' tan instead! Mama
  17. Where do you live? I'm in OR and talk about dreary weather!!! Sun's out, sky's black, pouring rain, hail beating down, sun's out again! mama
  18. My palm pillars burn out to about 1/4 to 1/8 of an inch to the edge. If it looks like the shell is getting to thin I just blow it out and clip the wick. The wax is to brittle to hug so when it's not burning, I just clip off the excess with scissors. I have had fantastic luck doing this. Mama:)
  19. I am a little late in getting in on this post but I gotta tell you that your wax doesn't look like any soy I've ever seen. I have always worked with nothing other than soy or palm and that wax looks like parraffin to me. Also, soy wax has a MUCH lower melting point and pillar should be poured at around 165 and container should be poured at around 155 and lower. Soy wax does come in chip form generally and IS very oily especially the container blend, but when it cools it has a very creamy look and texture and your wax looks a bit transluscent. Soy is NEVER transluscent. MAMA
  20. I have used the Peak's Vanilla Mint fo as well and colored my candles a very light minty blue. Guess what? They turned bright green! They were NEVER in the sun! I wonder if it's something in the fo? :undecided Hotmama
