  1. Just wondering if that phithalate free (sp?) or however you spell it could be an issue? Some suppliers are probably cutting the fo's, but I just ordered an fo that is now p-free and it smells a bit weaker than the older bottle that I have. I don't see settling or seperation, but it's definitely lighter oob. I definitely know that Peaks, OT, & SS ARE NOT cutting their fo's
  2. I just reminded myself of Lonestar when I responded to Dana mae's post. They were one of the first suppliers I used when I started this obsession. They also used to sell SFIC soap, but I guess that's no more. Anyway, I was looking at the "scents that rock in CP" sticky and didn't find anything on Lonestar. Or maybe I' m just blind When I did a search, I mainly found reviews for their fo's in candles. So, my question is: What LCS fo's rock in CP? Maybe we can get that list going in the sticky. I've only used their oakmoss, creamy vanilla, and mulberry. Loved the first 2, hated the last one. Do they still ship in glass? I'm looking to replace a couple of OT oils, mainly mango, coconut, summer strawberry and lilac. Any help is appreciated. Thanks
  3. LOL. Really? It gagged you? I love it. A little goes a long way, so you may want to test it at .3 or .4. I've only used it in 100% coconut cp so I don't know how it will act with a different recipe. Don't even think about coloring it b/c it turns tan/brown. I think you'll really like it in CP. It's one of my & DH's faves! Oh, did they ship this in plastic? It's been a while since I ordered. The plastic bottles just pissed me off! And now they have the NERVE to want to sell me glass bottles! Hello...the fo is pricey enough! ETA: Lonestar also sells a great oakmoss, equally strong, and it's a bit cheaper.
  4. Well, CB, doesn't seem I'll have to do that. A big giant Angel in my life just ordered the Tank for me. I talked to Kris and it's shipping this week! I can't believe it ya'll...I'M GETTING A TAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry that I can't be more excited about it LOL
  5. You're really not helping me with keeping money in my purse, you know. Funny thing is, I'm really funny about foody/fruity scents. I only like a very few select ones and pretty much hate everything else. I NEVER would have purchased this. But now...well, let's just say there's a # of it sitting in my peaks cart just waiting for my lil' finger to click "check out now" LOL
  6. IsabellaD: How dare you insult the talented chandlers here . You knew damn well that comment was rude and extremely insulting. I'm insulted and I don't even make candles or use foody scents. In fact, I pretty much hate almost all of them. Since when does the fragrance used determine the quality of a product? And who are you to even equate the two? Seems to me that you just screwed yourself out of some very good and helpful advice. Try taking your unpleasing demeanor to some of those "luxary" candlemakers you spoke of and ask THEM for advice. And while you're at it, try getting hooked on phonics. Perhaps you'll learn that all words aren't necessarily spelled the way you theenk thay sownd. Geez, people with your type of attitude irritate the hell out of me.
  7. Geez woman, you ARE sick! LOL I think you should catagorize them and send me all the florals Then hubby would remove your head from the guillotine! See, problem solved.
  8. Normally I don't get too ga-ga with fo's oob, but damn, this pomegranate is tdf! I placed an order and this was my free sample (Thanks Peaks!!) For the first time in my soaping life, I'm actually afraid to put this in something for fear that I will love it so much, I'll empty the bank account and buy all of Peaks stock!
  9. OBN had a sale on pink grapefruit about a month or so ago...$5 a #! I happened to go there to order some ylang ylang and was so happy to see the grapefruit on sale. For healing properties I keep tea tree, peppermint, rosemary, eucalytus and lavander. For personal use, ylang ylang, and jasmine absolute for extremely personal use. Now that I'm learning more about eo usage in soap, I realize that these seem to be the standard staple eo's. But geez, there are so many more I want to try. <sigh> If only I could win a million bucks
  10. Thanks ya'll! I decided to go with Scott Crew. Extremely inexpensive m&p molds, cool custom molds, and they are pretty close to me. If I place a large order, I can pick it up! Thanks again
  11. Ditto! Just get some soap safe colorants and you won't have to wonder.
  12. I'm looking for some molds for some M&P projects I have swimming around in my head and came across these two places. http://www.scottcrewcandlesupply.com/store/agora.cgi http://www.spiritcrafts.net/index.html Just wondering if any of you have used them. I'm always a little reluctant to order from new places because of all the bs out there. Thanks
  13. So do I and have never had a waxy feeling. Dimethicone will help give it a smooth, silky/powdery soft feeling after it absorbs.
  14. You know, the beveler is fine to me. It's the first one I've ever owned. It's pretty well built, I guess, as far as bevelers go. DH said the craftmanship is pretty top notch (he's a wood ho, but can't build a darn thing!). It wipes clean very easily. I see what you mean about the Premium cutter. I didn't think about that, figuring that I wouldn't make logs longer than 13.5 inches. But hell, I never thought I'd be making this much soap either! I think I'd better start thinking for future use!
  15. Yeah, I found a tank copycat also. Made all of wood, right? After waiting forever for a freakin' beveler/planer, I decided I didn't have the rest of my life to wait for a cutter! I'm working my money out for either the tank or the premium quick cutter. Yeah...I think I can live without satelllite, phone, internet and food for a month!
  16. Hi Y'all! It's me again with more questions. I've been looking at/for soap cutters and just wondering if any of you have this one http://www.soapequipment.com/images/LoafCutterwithSoap.jpg or anything like it. I saw one somewhere very similiar to this one that was made out of wood but I can't remember where I saw it! My mitre box thingy works fine for small batches, but cutting a 13.5 inch loaf bar by bar is so time consuming. Oh yeah, while I'm at it: do any of you use those soap polishing cloths sold at soapies-supplies? Is that really a necessary thing? And how, exactly, do you polish a bar of soap?? Every day I have more and more respect for those of you who do this for a living...especially those who do EVERYTHING from formulating a recipe to keeping the books! My hat is off to you! TIA

So do I. Pepperi, your soaps are really pretty and the pics look great!
  18. I want to make a couple of products with eo's but I'm having a hard time finding exact percentage use. I think I remember reading that the standard eo usage is 2%. But if I'm mixing eo's , how do I figure out how many drops = what amount so I don't go over the rec %? Am I making sense?
  19. Yep, I keep everything in a fridge in the basement, even Meadowfoam & Jojoba. If I get a large amount of butters, I seperate it and store some in the freezer. Thaws nicely without condensation if done in the fridge. Hey Scented, get that PKO listed. I could use a # or 2 now since I hate Palm and it hates me!
  20. I've been making a lot of CP lately and m&p only once or twice every couple of weeks. If they keep fooling with the calc, I'm gonna have to up my m&p time.
  21. Thank you. Gotta have a sense of humor when it comes to this damn soap! It's official...overheating was the culprit. I could barely get the tape off the outside of the mold. The crack isn't as deep as I thought it was. Not sure why it overheated. Guess I'll probably never know. I didn't do anything differently. :undecided So, what does overheating mean for the end product? I tested a piece. It didn't zap me and it's bubbly as usual. I love Coconut oil soap! I just wish it would smell like coconut. I tried EVCO, but that was just a waste of my money...it only had a very light coconut smell. You had to darn near breath in the entire earth just to get a hint of it!
  22. Chiptooth, I talked to a friend of mine who worked for HP and he told me the print head is consumable, kinda like something related to a drum or a transfer belt in a laser. If you use the printer to it's max monthly duty cycle, he said the print head may need to be replaced about every couple of years. It really depends on how much you print. Some HP cartridges have the print head integrated (like the OJ 6500) so no need to buy more. Others, like yours and the OJ 8500 don't have the print head integrated. So that's the story of the print head thingy.
  23. Oh for the love of Pete!!!!!!! I just realized that the ranges for the qualities changed! That's it! I'm upping my part-time m&p status to 3/4 of the time!
  24. I made the same batch of 100% coconut soap in the same mold and in the same manner I have since the first time I made it. Even put it in the same place covered with the same towel. I just went to unmold it and there...looking at me with a crooked smile...is a big azz crack in the middle of my damn loaf! Noooooooooo, it couldn't just crack a few places on the surface or even crack all the way from end to end. It's just in the middle and looks like it's pretty deep. I just told it to GTH and slammed the door! WTH is that all about? My first guess is that the little buzzard decided to over-heat. Am I climbing the wrong tree? If it did over-heat, what exactly does that mean. Something...or nothing? You know, since I've been cp'ing, I haven't had too many problems. I've had some really jacked up soap, some soap that looked and felt like a super-soaker sponge, some that just sat there looking stupid, and one batch that was so hard that I couldn't even chip it with an ice pick. Now I got cracks! And at the wrong damn time! Arrrrrrgh! Oh, well...off to track down other people's cracked soap!
