I make soaps, lotions, creams, clay masks, lip balms. Still haven't tried bath bombs, or hair conditioners.

I just am not crazy about chocolate or the smell of it. I especially like citrusy, fruity, or floral scents.

  1. Micro (sorry I just can't bear to add the Mom part), why are you taking such a personal offense to my post? Let me guess here....are you a long lost relative of SW with hopes of something to gain down the road maybe? Turns out they give nothing away for free I've been told. Even that famous SB promotion that's offered every other week- they make sure they add that in as part of the s/h and charge fully for it. Another nasty little unknown surprise from them that I never realized. Same thing with the ...sh forum. Also, why do you find it so gross that I think that forum owners and moderators should have more of an allegiance and obligation to it's members and less to a chummy supplier? Someone like you would have fit right in perfectly during the Dark Ages or even at the Salem Witch Trials with all your venom and hatred. I thought you were someone important there for a minute the way your so loud and proud and then I realized that I've only ever seen you make consistently nasty remarks on a regular basis and you also grace us with all cookie or candy bar recipe once a year (and they're probably not even your own original recipes). I suggest you log off ASAP and run right back now to the ...ish and continue phase II of the topic you started about, " I hate folks that are regulars here and hate us, have the audacity to hate the ...ish owner and our moderators, and hate our favorite supplier and blah, blah, blah." I originally did send my supplier complaint form to the owner for prior "editing" and approval and I got the, "I don't really have time to read through this [comment.]" I must have been really boring her and her general view was that this had nothing to do with SW and was all about Fed Ex. I guess love is blind you could say. And yes MWoblers, I wasn't happy in the least, after I placed my order, when a friend then told me that that famous London Lemon Curd FO turn brown in soap, but that wasn't my major gripe and you know it. It turns out that it's not even a lemon scent I'm crazy about (and I love citrus scents) and I definitely wasn't trying to milk SW to obtain a second free bottle of it, that's for sure. Simply put- I paid for it and so I wanted it. It's an ok FO, but it isn't that great. Just an overrated FO, like it's company. I suggest SW go public and all you blind devotees can finally have a share in the company that can do no wrong.
  2. I'm not wishing problems on anyone here who orders from this company, but only complimentary things are ever really allowed to ever be said about them. It needs to be highlighted that some of us have indeed had nasty and bad experiences. This will come with it's fair share of wrath, I'm sure, but I don't care what it costs me. And to be further threatened by a cozy moderator has made the situation for me far worse and is very wrong and unfair to me and others alike, IMHO. The only one who benefits from that kind of protection is the company itself. No good whatsoever comes out of it for soapers, chandlers, and those who make B&B items. And that is the honest truth.
  3. Yes, I finally did get my FO, but it arrived 2 weeks after the first box showed up and with no help from SW, you could be sure. Sorry Lisajo that you don't agree with what I'm saying. I know that we only ever see SW rocks post, so it must come as a bit of a major shock here. Just today I saw the very same moderator that PM'd me with the little warning- making literally a "Woot! Woot!" post about SW, so how honest do you think they really are over there with honest reviews and critiques of this company? SW has ingratiated themselves deeply whether you'd like to admit to it or not. It's not good, IMHO, for soapers not to be allowed to tell about bad experiences. Sounds like lots of fairy tales to me. Sorry you find it rather offensive, but I actually think it's being quite truthful and beneficial to the soaping community. Why shouldn't companies be expected to raise the bar as far their customer service and when they fail to do so we just quietly sweep it under the carpet and be all hush hush? What's so special about SW? Are they a big public company with stock holders or something? What's the big fear here?
  4. I know at that other big forum you're not allowed to say SW sucks- only SW rocks posts are really only ever tolerated. IMHO, the company has an obvious conflict of interest and ulterior business motives at lots of forum fund raisers, etc like no other supplier has and that's a disservice and dishonest to soapers around the country when information is closely censored, edited, and complaints need to be read, and then consequently very often denied before any posts are allowed. And yes, to make matters worse, a moderator at that other forum actually PM'd me to tell me that I'd be asked to leave that forum if I continued my gripes about the SW company. That's how cozy SW is in this business. Friends in the right places I guess you could call it. It all makes perfect sense now. No wonder SW business is booming I see- when only raves not complaints are ever read or tolerated. But has anyone else experienced horrible customer service? I stated on another thread in the Up the Nose fragrance/EO section that when I initially placed my very first order at the SW web site I then called on the phone and asked Mrs SW (like I ask all my suppliers) to simply add a special delivery instruction ( 2 words) on the outside of my box, since my home is set back in a remote location. It makes all the difference. Instead of accomodating the request, I could actually hear huffing and puffing like I was inconveniencing the woman and just trying to give her busy work. ...Okay, I kind of forgot about that rude incident...sort of. I then placed another order 3 months later and my $54 FO was not included in my box with my other items. I called on the phone and was instructed to send my query via email, which I then did. I promptly got an email back from Mr SW who told me to please read the disclaimer on the SW web site that the company is not responsible to customers once they ship out boxes from their warehouse. I even told my husband about this who is in the commercial mailing business and he said SW can't tell you that. I then had to act on my own behalf ( SW didn't care or show any interest since they figured they tell customers they're not responsible) and I had to contact Fed Ex myself. I spoke to a rep who said that the protocol for something like this is that SW needs to contact Fed Ex, not me the customer and a claim for a missing package is then initiated. It's really not supposed to be that big a deal and not that complicated and Fed Ex takes care of it from there. The rep didn't know why SW was haggling, hassling me, and accusing me with my "claim of nondelivery." Plus to rub more salt in the wound, I forgot to click on the button that confirmed -yes, I would like to receive my complimentary 3 lbs of SB, since I qualified with the amount I spent. When I called on the phone about that issue, before my order even arrived with the missing FO, I was told , "Oh, no -that promotion ended." Period. Yes, I admit that it was ultimately my mistake for not clicking on the button as my option, but what I really didn't appreciate was the nasty (as usual) and unapologetic curt tone. I think SW customer service is deplorable and I don't care how nice the some of the FOs and supplies are. Thankfully I've discovered lots of other companies around with products just as nice and nice owners that actually appreciate the business they get and know how to treat their customers right. You're regarded by SW, IMHO, as someone who's been honored and privileged to actually be able to spend your $ with this grossly overrated company.
  5. You can make your own laundry soap/gel, etc with pretty good results, but I recommend also using a vinegar rinse. I add orange peels to my vinegar bottle and end up with a pretty sweet smelling vinegar after a while. Another secret is to pretreat tough stains. I make a pretreater recipe that's equal parts, water, ammonia, and liquid soap. Stir it all up well.iIt works great at getting at stains before they have time to set. I think for greasy stains, however, one of the best things you can do is simply to add to the spot- a few drops of commercial dish liquid soap; like Dawn, Ivory, etc.
  6. I just made this and it's wonderful! I didn't have hemp butter and subbed with a different butter, and for the oil- I used hemp oil- which I did have. Thanks for posting this terrific recipe! I say 10 out of 10.
  7. Well, I just would like to add that I do have the 4 1/2 qt Kitchen Aid mixer from Walmart. I think in the future I wouldn't mind possibly buying the Professional model which is 6 or 8qts. I did, however, at a tag/garage sale find an old Sunbeam stand mixer with all the attachments. It only cost me like $5 and I washed all the parts and tested it recently to make some whipped butter for a swap I was in. I have to say it worked out great! ;)If you can find something like that, it will save you lots of money and mine did work. Just maybe ask if you can plug in the mixer to see if it works before buying or ask to make sure it's in good working order.
  8. I'm so happy to hear that palm oil can be subbed with lard instead. I just made a soap that's curing now where I made that change. Can't wait to test it out in about 2 weeks or so.
  9. I like your labels and the way your products look.
  10. I also wanted to mention that I have a similar recipe I I started adding a very small amount of beeswax to my soaps. Not too much or the beeswax will inhibit lather, but small amounts also contribute to hardness. You melt the wax with your oils and also it is counted as an ingredient with a SAP value when determining lye. It's like .069 I believe.
  11. Thanks a bunch! :yay:I adjusted the cookies and level of security on my computer and I finally got into this web site. Now I'll know what to do when I have a glitch in the future.
  12. Hi there. I just read recently that someone has sucess with the gel food colors much better than the liquid form. Just though I'd pass that along. I haven't tried that one yet myself, but hope to soon.
  13. Okay, I'll go into Internet Options and do that with the Cookies. I sure do hope that helps. There look like a LOT of fun recipe. Good time of year to test some out.
  14. I've tried clicking on that link to what's looks like yet more fun and terrific recipes, but I'm not being allowed access to any recipes. I think I tried to register and kept getting some wierd error message. I thought I sent an email to the person who's web site it is but haven;t heard back from yet and that was like last week.:embarasse Has anyone else had problems or have an idea of what may be causing my problems here?
