I just went through the worst weather I have ever been through. I'm in Enterprise, AL & was less then 100 Yards from the tornado that hit. We are all ok, but was out of power for awhile. Two streets over is destroyed. Its just amazing how we are ok but so close houses are gone!
My few Test Pillar Candles here came in real handy & got tested earlier then what i wanted, but Good news..they burned REAL WELL...One burned all night long with no problems. After we had Candle light in the house & was able to function..my husband said he would never talk about my HOBBY again! lol

thanks for all your input..i think dyeless candles do look "pure" looking..i know you have FO in them, but a candle with no color just looks good.

How many people DON'T dye their candles? I've read where Ecosoya 135 is great with scent throws but bad with frosting. Am I reading right? I am waiting on my wax now to arrive, but was doing some searching on info before i actually test. I'm more concerned about scent throws rather then appearance. How many of you just leave the dye out? Do your customers like it? I am no where close to selling, but just wondering. Does this wax have an off white appearance?
I appreciate any info..

Thank you for the test burn pics..i am about to attempt Ecosoya PB & was wondering about wicks..I looked at Candlescience.com site with their wick guide..they say LX 24 for 3 diameter molds. SO your right on with them too. I ordered their wicks sampler of LX series. I have never used that series before & was wondering about it. This makes me feel alot better about them. Although, I like the ECO series burn too..very nice.
Thanks

I am looking for someone that sells samples of F.O. I received a small vile of a F.O. with a purchase from Nu scents. Its no where near enough to make a good candle, but its great to see exactly what that scent smells like. You know like when you get samples of perfumes??? Do you know of anyone that sells these?
Or
Where can I get a sample set like 1 oz scents...i saw some where (cant remember where) someone said you can get 10 or 15 samples of their best FOor the top FO's for like 25 bucks. Anyone know?????

I found one other thread with a wick test. The clear winner being an HTP 1212. Question is, is the HTP wick available in a spool? Or, pretabed longer than 6"

I just wanted to thank all of you for all the help you have given me with my soy wax decision. I have even had ppl offer me samples they had. Just wonderful ppl.
I have come down to a few choses..
* I'm checking on Millcreek..anyone have any info on it?
* But i am very interested in Golden brand 416 for my votives & 415 for my containers..just to test out..still trying to figure out what the difference of 464, 444 & 415 is though..anyone know, please tell me...
* I am also looking into Ecosoya 135. I only have 11 oz tueern jars for now I love the shape & size. I do want to (in the future) go to 18 oz victorian jars..just beautiful jars.
* I'm hearing about C-3 & V-1 too..so maybe next test it.
Again, thank you for all your help...CT has been wonderful!

Cracks in votives, never tried it in a container.
I read on oh man i cant remember where i read it..i've been on so many sites today...but they did recommend mixing some container wax in the votives.

Kay, if you have feather palm for votives & pillars, you have to add 5% palm steric so they will release. I make palm votives all the time and they release perfectly from mold & wick pin. They would not without Steric. When I make pillars, I have to use palm steric. You can take them out of mold pretty quick, you will see how they have pulled away from votive cup. I did get a batch of palm (mottling) and it would not release with steric. Took it back. Good luck, Carole
Thanks Carole...I knew there was something I was missing. I'll try it!!

Is this batch from the same supplier?? That was my problem the first batch I tries I ordered from one supplier & the next time I ordered from another supplier.
The first batch i got off ebay (5 pounds) this batch I got from NuScents..You would think I would have problems with the ebay before i would Nuscents.

Do you have wick pins? I had one I couldn't get out & used the wick pin to push it out!!
I used wick pins for the votives & no I couldnt get them out..i tried & tried, so ended up puting in oven & melting alittle til i could get them to slide out, but then effect was ruined...i'm hoping the powder helps me.
Could i be doing something else wrong??????
I did not have this problem with first batch, it just makes me wonder..i'm doing the same thing I did before..

Hows your insert working
It's working great!! I have a ? for you! What are you using for the glass insert? The one I've tried is too big & the wax cracks around it. About the spray, I tried that first & thought it messed up the crystalization.
I ordered my glass tea lights from www.cudge.net

Hi Kay!! I think I can help you with this problem & thank you for helping me!! I had the same problems & tried the mold release powder in the wax & it helps. Also I find that it is easier to get them out of the mold when they are still warm.
Ok, I just ordered some release powder...Hoping it helps...in the mean time...i'm having to remelt that candle in the oven..i CANT get it out......

is it a metal mold? if so get you some silicone spray that always works for me . you can get the silicone spray most times at micheal's ot joeann fabrics sometimes. hope that helps
yes they are metal..thanks, i'll have to try it

You know now that I think aobut it...maybe thats what i did..took them out while they were still warm....i cant remeber...but i just remember them separting from the molds sooner & wondering how i was going to get the repour done without messing up the candle..figured that out, but now having this problem..if its not one thing, its another...lol
Hows your insert working?
Whats the best way to get this candles out now without messing it up????
-
its weird cause i didnt have this problem with the first batch I got..
-
I use the V1 for votives and would not recommend using it in containers. As it is, I have to add container wax because it cracks on me in votives and tarts.
Your saying it cracks when used as votives or just in containers?

I have been playing around with palm for about 2 months now..i bought my first batch & had no problems at all..( just bought 5 pounds) I liked it so much I bought 20 pounds of feather pillar/votive wax from NuScents & well my votives I couldnt get out of the mold..isnt it suppose to separate from the mold..I had to put in oven & melt down to get them out....my first batch I got separated..fast..these are not separating from the molds at all. I made a scallop last night & this morning..i cant get it out. I even sprayed it with pam before pouring, something I didnt do with the first batch (the 5 pounds I first bought)..& that batch I had no problems with mold separation.
Info...
Poured at 200 deg
hardly any scent..about 1oz per 2 pounds (just what i had)
3 drops of orange dye
Let cool on counter over night & this morning, cant get out of mold...
What could have gone wrong?
I checked to see if they send me container palm instead..I checked my order form & it says pillar & votive wax..i'm wondering if they send me container instead. How could I tell?

One more question from me. I was looking at Lonestar's website & they say their Cargill V-1 can also be used in containers. Has anyone tried this?
Husband doesnt talk about my hobby now!
