  1. HI, does anyone know if you have to add an additive when using Powdered GM in CPRT soap making?? I just bought some and need alittle info. I thought I could just mix it up and use it as if it were regular GM. Thanks Lisa
  2. I was there today, I smelled some of the falls scents that were not yet available to the website. My favorite was White Maple and Clove (AWESOME) The other one I sniffed was Citrus Spruce .... oh boy was the a great one for Christmas. The lady told me to look for them next month. And sure will.
  3. Has anyone used a dehydrator??? Just wondering. I haven't either
  4. Ok now I understand. I do use the soap cal for all recipes that I try. So far my numbers have been ok. I have just been lucky I guess. Boy do I feel DUMB. Thanks for explaining that. When I went to the soapcal, i did see the difference in the numbers, now I I have a better understanding of their seperate qualities. Lisa
  5. oh, yes i see the difference.... Thanks
  6. Hi, I have a new recipe to try. It has 2 types of Palm in it. Palm oil and PKO. I thought that they were the same , and you could substitued one for the other. Is this an error in the recipe, or do they each have different qualities. When I have a recipe that calls for Palm, I use PKO or Palm oil whatever is handiest. :undecided Thanks Lisa
  7. Here is one of the bars using red oxide, the tiny flecks in the soap are ground oats and chamomile. Its an awsome bar, just need to figure the colorant amts to avoid the streaks and dye on the WC. Sure do hate to have to warn ppl about it, even if it does wash out. Thanks Lisa
  8. Thanks all. I must be adding to much. The one particular soap in question was with using the red oxide. I also have used the green oxides and had the same problem. How much should I be adding pp of oils? When i used the red oxide, I made a raspberry swirl and topped it in the mold with about a half an inch of the all red (which causes streaking) :undecided Sometime later today I must take pictures and show you the soaps in question. Thanks Lisa
  9. Am I adding to much colorant? When I use a white wash cloth with some of my soaps, it discolors the cloth. However, it does come clean in the wash. I was wondering if if this is normal. I am using mostly oxides and or spices ect. Haven't really sold any soaps to the public, mostly my family. They have inquired about the same thing. I have tried using less, but no matter what I come up with the same problem, with a lighter variation. :undecided . Anyway just wondering if this is normal. If I do decide to sell soap what should I tell ppl in advance.??? Thanks for looking, hope someone can help clear this one up for me. Thanks Lisa
  10. Thanks for the input, I gave up on a response... lol

  13. Ok, I have been using a variety of ways to make LYE soap. I have been having this problem from day one. When I add my scent to my soap it smells like there is enough scent, but after it cures the scent is minimal. Can you tell me which scent suppliers are best to use for making lye soap? I have been using 1 oz pp. Thanks, Lisa
  14. Thanks for all of your helpful input. They sound great! I hear alot about babbaso oil. What is a good substitute for if you don't have it. I must really get some and try it! Hope that someone will do a oils coop with that included.

  19. I have only made the CP soap, and i love the ability to be creative with swirling. I read in one of the posts that it can be done with HP soap. I would like to try making a batch. Before i get started tho, I want to have all my ducks in a row. So... can any of you give me any pointers as to how to put swirls in the soap.. I hear that the consistancy is going to be quite thick. Thank for the help!
  20. Hi, I am running out of supplies. Things like light kits, silicone bulbs, fluted tin plates, ect. Does anyone know of suppliers they could recommend? I haven't seen a coop for those latley. Thanks Lisa
  21. Hi, I have seen prim soaps that have been grubbied. I hear that before you pour your soap in the molds that the molds are grubbied first. Does anyone know if this is right, and if so where can i find the recipe. I just bought some prim soap molds and would like to give it a shot. I searched the site and can't find one for soaps. Thanks for looking.... Lisa
  22. OMG!!! I hope I didn't ruin this batch of soap. I used a solution of green tea ( 4 tea bags to 22oz of water) When a ll the temps were right between the oils and the lye, I added the greentea to the lye.... Please tell me that this won't stay looking like split pea soap!!!!!!! Oh its a horrid color. Someone please tell me as it cures it will become a nice cool green!!!! PLEASE !!!
  23. Thats too funny. I just read somewhere if you scorched the goats milk, u had to throw it out. Thanks for the reply.
  24. I have read from different forums that it is ok to use your goats milk soap if it turns brown in the lye. I just wanted to check out your opinions on this. I didn't know at the time that you should freeze the goats milk prior to adding it to the lye solution. It did curdle quite a bit. I made the soap as usual. It is brown tho. (Light brown) It smells great! I added lavender buds and Lav. oil. It has been 4 wks and some bars are curing nicely. Some are still alittle oily feeeling (the bigger bars) So my question is.. does it make a difference that it scorched some? I had a small sample shaving that I used myself and it was ok....... Lisa
