I never would have thought the wax would actually catch fire because of the wick. This is good info to keep in mind!

I dunno, but the sides inside were flaming. I decided it wasn't worth the chance. Scared the crap outta me.

Any container with a seam will potentially leak.

Modge Podge.

Modge Podge is flammable. I coated a couple tin cans to make bug candles with. I was testing them on my front porch. Went inside to check on dinner and my daughter yelled the porch was on fire! It wasn't, thank God! BUT The candle looked like a fire bomb with 2 foot high flames. Apparently a large moth went for a swim between the wick and side if the bucket. He caught fire and kept the flame on the side long enough for the Modge Podge to catch. I never would have thought of this happening! Needless to say, I don't make or sell anything with the coating on the inside. Live and learn... and test :o/

yea that was pretty much my game plan. I am trying to start out slow. I have been fighting for my disability for about 3 years now and what my husband brings in don't even cover the rent. I am hoping to help out with the candles some. Is there any thing in that i need to know before starting?:confused:

Have you priced quality supplies? Look at the supplies in your kit to see what you should look for. Not saying you have to invest thousands to start with, but it does take a decent amount for testing to get a good quality product (if it's not safe and good, you wont have any return customers).

I don't mean to sound negative, but if your income doesn't even cover your rent....this will probably harm more than help your finances.

Good luck to you though, whatever you eventually decide. Making candles is as fun as frustrating. I wouldn't trade it for anything

Probably greatly under wicking so that it tunnels down the center.

Perhaps this is an amateur thing, but I just use crayons for my dyes. Cheap and simple. I've never tried neon colors, though, so I suppose I couldn't say whether or not they're effective for bright hues.

I didn't like the HL wax... to soft for pillars to me. I use the 4625 and LX wicks, 16 or 18 depending on FO. No additives are needed with the pillar blend wax except UV inhibitor. It will also burn different with and w/o FO...

I don't trim during power burning anything. A lot of regular people out there don't and I want to know what will happen when the user ignores it (like I used to do before I knew what you're supposed to do...lol)...

This is an expensive learning process but oh so satisfying feeling when you finally get one to burn just right, then are able to repeat it

As soon as you start reading here, you'll start learning all kinds of new things.

Just my opinion of course, but I don't think tealights will put out enough scent to make much difference. Maybe I've never bought really good ones though.
