  1. I have been using cargil nature wax c3 for about 4 years now and I cant understand why all of a sudden this started happening. The pink is supposed to be mini strawberry ice cream scoops. See how it looks like there is powder all over it? It kinda looks like very old chocolate bars look. My daughter and I made these about 2 months ago. I thought it was maybe the dye but even the vanilla ones w/out dye look like this. Not as bad but enough to look unattractive.Any help on what could have happened would be greatly appreciated.
  2. I really wouldnt worry about what she is doing with the soaps as long as you are getting what you asked for them. I would tell her that you need a deposit to get started though. I would also find out where she intends to have them you ship them to. If its outside of the US chances are its a scam. you can tell her that the deposit has to be in the form of a money order or you can take down the info she provides which I would assume is a credit card and you can call the card company she uses (visa, mastercard) whatever and tell them your story and that you think it could be a scam. They can tell you if the card is stolen or if it matches the person. I hope its legit, and if it is congrats.....good luck
  3. We use organic sugar same stuff for sugar scrubs. Lavender buds float so you can either let your soap solidify with the buds on the top so you have a mild srubby on one side and a smooth side that has just soap or you can stir them up until the buds are incorporated and stay put. We use fresh coffee grounds. I would say though that if you are going to use used grounds to make sure they are dry. I would worry the wet ones may cause mold. Not sure about it but I wouldnt want to take the chance. You can also try colendula and chamomile.
  4. Neither but both LOL, I have never made one of these before but I used to make A LOT of crafts. I would say hot glue will not hold very well weather it be right away or over time. super glue, wood glue whatever, takes to long time to dry when working with a strand of lights. a Staple gun is your best bet BUT dont hold the strand and staple over top of it you could pinch the wires and cause a short. What I would do is ... place a twist tie in the area where you want to secure the strand and staple that to the wood then place your strand over top and twist the tie around it to secure it. Snip the excess twist tie then press it close to the wood and cover it with hot glue or wood glue so you dont have people getting stabbed with the tie. HTH. VERY CUTE BTW:wink2:
  5. My daughter and I make a lot of MP soap w/ scrubby stuff in it. Poppy seeds for lemon poppy Lavender buds Strawberry seeds berry seeds coffee grounds. oatmeal ground teas sugar jojoba beads Heres a helpful hint If your scrubbies sink to the bottom or float, as your soap cools slowly stir it. It will start to harden and the scrubbies will be through-out the soap instead of at the top or bottom It takes practice but heck you can remelt it if you dont like the look and try again. Just dont add fragrance till you know you can reproduce the look you like and wont have to remelt it. HTH
  6. snap, crackle & pop that sounds fun, Always loking for stuff for kids. I remember trying to do salt bars too but after about a week the soap started to turn mushy.
  7. Have you ever thought of a canadian only co-op? Maybe you could get a shipping break if you order in bulk. This is way out of my league but just a thought. That shipping is KA_razy, I feel ashamed for complaining about shipping here from some suppliers. edited to say I was bored so I did a search. 8. I dont think anyone here has said they want the work done for them just maybe some info to point ya in the right direction. A small suggestion list, something like this... Now that you have your site up and running it is very important to do a lot of research on the following to help people find you or you will be lost in cyber-space... Swapping Links with others spiders and bots key words and meta tags SEO BLAH BLAH These hosts also need to get rid of things that will only hurt you in the long run if used which would be 1.Frames 2.Enter page 3.overiding the enter page and going to the home page only ends up having the word default in the addy bar. 4.fancy buttons instead of actual text for your catergories None of these are spider friendly but the options are available and this only sets you up for a fall. It took me days to design my buttons and get them just right only to have to go back and take them off my site. ( what a nightmare). You can research a website before you get it but if you dont know what your looking for your just wasting your time. As far as people copying you from here. There are many wonderful recipes that people have shared in this community and others tweak them and make changes to make them their own. We're all pretty much reinventing old ideas. Making products by hand without all the harsh chemicals that can cause cancer and god knows what else. We all get inspired by each other here. Copying packaging I would say is pretty much a 50 50 chance of happening because the availability of packageing that suppliers carry are all pretty simillar. Now if you had a type of packaging customized for you only and someone had the same thing then yes, I would say it was copied but other than that its just coincident and kinda vain. Imagine how yankee feels:shocked2: You must get inspired w/ new ideas by coming to this community because you've been a member since 2005. After calling us lazy and someone asking to see your site only to decline, may make others think your not as authentic as you claim to be. JMHO
  9. Well from what I have read here (which is very informative) I gotta tell ya, I feel like I have wasted a lot of time and money. I havent checked yahoo yet but I will. I just dont know if I will be able to figure it all out and god knows I cant afford to pay $300 or more to have someone set up a website for me from scratch. Oh and what about when I need to make changes to my site? I only know basic html and even that is quite rusty. I did most of my researching on-line for building my ranks. For the first year my site was lost out there in cyber space. I started learning different tips and slowly started finding my site in google search, moving up. It took a couple months but I had finally worked my way to page 3. I just dont have time to keep up with the research and change so I have slipped to page 6 now. Its never ending when it comes to having a site I guess. I am all ears....tell us more.
  10. I am interested in what you have to say. I have had a website with them for about 2 years now and yes, things are slow. I have return customers but just not enough biz. I am thinking about closing my site. I do way better on ebay and home parties. I have done a lot of research on rankings and found that if you dont swap links w/ others and keep your votes up with your top sites it can have an ill effect. As far as you saying DIY being behind in technology, I do agree. They offer many templates with out telling you that if you choose the one with fancy buttons that it could seriously effect your rankings compared to using text for your catergories. Also having a splash page is not good. You can opt not have the splash page and set it to your home page BUT your home page addy has the word default in it and spiders dont like that word I guess. One issue that has been going on is in our sites email there is always 1-127 error messages that say that has been a problem detected w feature cart, and something about having semi colons in your tags (I belive thats what it said). Myself and others have gone through w/ a fine tooth comb only to find we have no semicolons anywhere in our site. When you ask the support team about it they say the search engines must have changed the way they are doing things and upgrading. Then its passed off by other members as HEY, be grateful, this only means that people are searching your site. Your getting hits so deal w/ it. SO TO SPEAK. Why do I stay? The biz I get pays for the site and enough for a small profit. Its REAL easy to manage my site and they have a built in shopping cart. The price is reasonable. $60.00 every 3 months. It has its pros and cons just like every other host I'm sure. But like I said, I am thinking of closing my site in January if things dont get better.
  11. I've gotten a couple of scam emails and orders. What you should do is. Answer her questions then option 1) tell her that for that quantity AND being a first time buyer you will need at least 1/2 payment via money order before you even start. option 2) find out where she plans on having them shipped this would send out red flags if its overseas. option 3) go through everything with her and tell her once payment is recieved you will start making her order. If she paye with a credit card. call the credit card company she is using and tell them you fear a scam and you would just like to know if this card has been reported stolen or if it matches the info. They may or may not give you the info you are looking for but they will call her and let her know what is going on then she can in turn contact you. Trust me , I am sure if this is a legit order she WILL be glad that you took the time to make sure she wasnt getting screwed over buy a thief. This was the route I took with one gentleman looking to make an $800.00 order and have it shipped to GHana. He said he was a Dr and he was there helping people. He even scanned and emailed me picture ID. I called the card Co. and didnt hear anything for a couple days. He contacted me again asking when this would ship so I called the card Co. again and they said the name didnt even match the card #. Good luck. I hope it all works out for you and the order is legit. HTH
  12. I havent tried it in scrubs only lotions. I dont really like the feel fusion magic gives lotion. It feels kinda slimey to me. Maybe someone will come along that has tried it in a scrub.
  13. Hi everyone, my daughter and I have been making B-Bombs for about 3 years now. We have learned a lot about these guys. They are very tempermental with weather change and we have made a LOT of fizzy bath powder that should have been B-Bombs. Scented~ I think its aweful that you suffer BALL loss because people feel the need to squeeze them. However this is a test that my DD and I perform with each batch we have made. We actually place a bomb in our hands and squeeze as hard as we can. If it breaks, its a dud. Unfortunatly , even though there are a lot of great BBomb recipes out there, that is what works for the climate these people live in. Once you have a BB recipe you really like you need to tweak it to work with your climate. Some people omit sea salt because it pulls in moisture but I refused to do that because I believe it is a great additive for bath time. I truly believe its all in the drying time and weather conditions. If its raining or humid FORGET IT !!! On a good dry day or in the winter you should be able to get a nice hard bath bomb in about 2 days of drying time. AS for the packaging I use the 4x6 shrink bags then slap a sticker label on it. Nothing special. I feel the shrink helps add stability to the ball. Especially during shipping. Good luck with your B-Bombs everyone. I hope I was able to shed some light on your bath bomb making. Scented, I am sending you a pm.
  14. they do have nice stuff but I dont think they even want to be bothered with little people. I emailed them twice last year and they never even responded. Maybe things are different with them now, I dont know. Good luck.
  15. The email is good because he emailed me telling me where to send the order. I wish it was legit but the CC company said there is no match to the name or anything else for that matter. I know I did the right thing and I figure if this is a senerio like some of you say it **could** be then wehn the cc company contacts this fella and finds out he really DID place the order then he will hopefully email me back and say"hey, thanx for looking out for me but please send me those goodies"....LMAO, wishfull thinking...hehe, thank you all so very much. If things change for the better I will let you all know.
  16. I finally found the # for mastercard and contacted them, they gave me the # to where this card was issued from so I called them and the card # doesnt even match the name given. I gave them all of the info they asked for and they said they will contact the gentleman that the card really belongs to. I hope this poor fella doesnt have a racked up card. Thank you all so much for your help.
  17. Thank you all for your response. I was looking on the mastercard site to contact them and hopefully save this poor fella from a financial disaster but I dont see a contact phone #. I will let you know what happens. Thanx again.
  18. Hi everyone. I have gotten everyones dream of an order on my site this morning. A gentleman has place an $800.00 order. Red flags set off in my head like crazy because its not wholesale and of course seems to good to be true. He has supplied me with a CC # and all other important info and he lives in VA. (USA) however he has emailed me with instructions to ship to a PO box in Ghana. I am thinking this is a scam. Any thoughts? thanx so much
