  1. I know there is a thread about scents that rock in cp soap, but what about the scents that don't. :undecided I searched for some scents that I was about to try, but didn't find anything so I tried them anyways and some just don't turn out very pretty. I love my sugar cookie fo in everything, lotions, scrubs, etc. But, I really wanted to try it in soap, bad idea. First of all, it was very slow to trace, then it got a few air bubbles on top, and now it is a dark brown color and doesn't smell the same.

I've also come to realize that if I have a scent that I don't like very much, I just soap it and I tend to like it more.

What scents do you dislike in cp soap?

  2. This person just cut the top completely around the entire bottle and then just set it over the bottle, instead of being connected like normal it will just fit right over the new cut part so it is closed but not securely closed and would keep out dust and particles. I would not do this if it were an oil that gets liquidy or if kept in a warm place. I know my coconut oil can get hard but right now it is very liquidy and it's stored here in my living room. My PKO is very solid and my Palm is slushy so both of those would work if I had the 7lb containers like that. I'm glad you posed this question b/c if/when I buy those large sizes I would have been lost as to what to do.

I was just looking for the palm and palm kernel oils, they just take so long to melt in the sun. I think I am going to buy some of those big open containers and just melt them once and then transfer them into there.

  3. Someone suggested to me that you slice the top half of your 7lb container off so you can dig into it and then just place the lid back on it. You won't be able to pick it up by the handle anymore but at least you can get in there and dig and there is no worry about spilling b/c if it's the oils like PKO that never soften than you are good to go.

Thanks. I had thought about doing that, do you tape them shut after or just leave them open a little bit.

  4. I usually order the 7 lb. containers from soaperschoice, but when the oils harden I have to sit them in the sun and wait for them to melt a little before getting them out of the container. I know they have 35lb. containers, does anyone know how wide the opening is for these. I mean would I be able to scoop some out and melt it that way or is it a small pour spout like the 7 lb. size. TIA.

  5. Just a thought... sometimes if micro-buggies get into lotions or creams they'll make a runny lotion very thick or a thick lotion very runny or even separate.

Eww, can they be seen or do they have to be tested to be found. I just use this particular lotion on myself. I've heard so many things about lotions and such I would be too afraid to sell it for awhile. I keep checking it everyday to see if I can see little buggies. LOL.

  6. I am hoping someone chimes in on this. I've been looking for a good lotion recipe and this seems like a good one. Maybe package it in jars as a body mousse just a thought. I may go ahead and try this one myself.

I do have it in a jar right now and I thought the same, sell it as a body mousse. The texture is real light and sort of like cool whip.

  7. I have been playing around with a new lotion recipe and at first it came out runny, after a few days it was the perfect lotion texture, now (after about 2 weeks) it is like a whipped creamy mousse texture. Still feels amazing, but was just wondering why the texture changed like this. This is the recipe I used... (it was a 1 lb. recipe)

    RBO 1 oz.

    FCO .92 oz.

    water 12.64 oz.

    ewax .8 oz.

    stearic .48 oz.

    cyclo .16 oz.

    germaben .02 oz.

any suggestions of why it did this?

  8. My pictures aren't the greatest, but I am still learning to use Photoshop. I bought Photoshop Elements 5.0 at Costco, it was regularly $79.99, but I had a coupon for $20 off. I've heard that you should take a class to learn it or at least a lot of people have. It does so muc, I am just reading as I go along. HTH.

  9. I was about to fry chicken and I was reading the back of the vegetable oil. The only ingredient is soybean oil? It is Wessen brand cooking oil. Has anyone used this in soaping, the only soybean oil I use is the organic one from soaperschoice. Does anyone know if they are the same or do they have different properties? TIA.

  10. Did you get a proof before the labels are printed? I can't stress enough to anyone how important a proof is. Ask me how I know... :undecided

That's the thing, according to the last email they sent, I thought that I was getting the proof in the mail first I didn't know that it would be my order already.

julia44: they are going to try again and send me another sheet no charge, so I don't want to post their name yet, I will give them a chance to fix the problem first.

  11. they look great!!! are they emulsified?

    Yes, they are emulsified.

Thanks everyone, the strawberry one is the one I had to tell myself, "don't lick the spoon" I kept smelling it and wanting to taste them. My sister kept asking me why all of my products look and smell like food.

  12. I had finally figured out my label and decided that it was so difficult to print circle labels that I would have them done professionally for me. Well I just received my labels in the mail today and they are not what I expected at all. First I wanted 1 sheet of 1 /15" circle labels in white glossy, but there are two different sizes on the sheet. Then the background of the label should be brown, but the ones I received in the mail are a green color and notclear at all. Then, about 8 or so of the labels have extra color marks and/or scratches on the labels. I am unable to use these labels. The ones I did myself are more appealing even though some are not straight. LOL. I contacted them and am waiting on an email back. Just thought I would vent in the meantime.

  13. A local hotel is changing from a big franchise name to a private hotel and wants to know if I can make all of the little lotions, soaps, shampoos, etc. to go into each and every room of the hotel. There is over 100 or so rooms and they want to buy in cases, they even said that my name can still be on the the soaps. This is good news, but now where to start. I know if I buy in bulk I can get my prices down, but can I get it low enough and still make a profit. Any ideas or suggestions? TIA
