  1. Hmmm:rolleyes2 Doesn't sound much like their idea of a 'highly scented candle' is the same as ours, does it? Thanks for the info.
  2. I was just looking around their site and was surprised to see their scenting recommendations. They suggest scenting at 2% and say that 1 tsp fragrance per 8 oz wax makes a very strong candle. Are their oils really this strong?
  3. Fragrancing at 10% is 1.6 oz per pound; 1 ounce plus about 17 grams. An ounce is slightly over 28 grams, so about 45 grams total for 1.6 oz.
  4. Oh lord, I hadn't even thought about candles doing that.:rolleyes2 How long did it take them to turn?
  5. I only used tins for body butter one time, and had a bad experience. This was just pure whipped shea and oils with no water, but I still got a rusty looking ring around the edges after a month or so due, I'm thinking, to the fragrance reacting to the metal. I didn't want to seal mine, so now I just stick to jars.
  6. AJ, the cream does contain stearic, as well as the glyceryl stearates, and that's what was curious to me. There is no mention of ewax or glycerin, though, so this must be a substitute for those things. I did find some info about it on the Dish after I posted this, and looks like it is available at the Herbarie. When I get time, I'm gonna go to that site and do some more reading. Jenny, the cream does contain mineral oil; you're right, everything they make has it, it seems. I've never used mineral oil because of the negative things I've read about it, but if that is what makes the cream so nice, maybe that's why they use it (in addition to the cheapness). I love dimethicone; I put that in cream all the time and it really does make a wonderful difference.
  7. Okay, it looks like the papain and bromelain are added as mild exfoliating agents (on the order of alpha hydroxy acids). Still curious about how using the glyceryl stearates is different from ewax and glycerin, though.
  8. I do like the "feel" of the BBW body cream, and was wondering if anyone was familiar with some of these ingredients. The cream contains stearic acid, but then also contains glyceryl stearate SE and glyceryl stearate. When I looked these up, the information indicates that it is a blend of glycerin and stearic and is used as an emulsifier. Wonder what would be the difference in using this, and ewax and glyercin? The cream also contains papain and bromelain. These are plant enzyme compounds commonly used as meat tenderizers. Wonder what the benefit is in adding them to cream? Anyone here ever heard of any of these ingredients?
  9. Bizzy B does a great job with these. Her blend contains some paraffin, but is still very opaque, and they turn out beautiful. Keep working at it and, as others said, make sure you have some of the chunks pushed firmly against the jar sides.
  10. I was just there awhile ago, and it didn't indicate that Cinnamon Frosting was oos. Some of the others do say that, so I'll bet it's in now.
  11. Gorgeous eye candy, as usual!
  12. I bought a couple of silicone chocolate chip molds to try this out. It's tedious pouring, though. If you overfill, you get that "skirt" around the edges, and that makes them not look as good. I suppose you could set your pot of melted wax into a simmering water bath to keep it fluid, and use a pipette to fill the cavities individually, but it would be very tedious. Not sure you could sell them for enough to make it worth the investment in time.
  13. Doesn't seem strange to me. That's why grocery stores have shopper card programs, so customer loyalty can be rewarded. Also, gas companies constantly run promotions for rewards if you use their credit card to fuel up.
  14. Print the label online and delivery confirmation will be free.
  15. Doubt you'll get an answer from her; she flew the coop. WSP is one place that has it.
  16. I get mine here: http://store.scent-works.com/naviemito.html They are very reasonable on this item, imo.
  17. One of my very favorites for b&b (especially soap) is BnL's (now BCN) Olive Blossom.
  18. Ooh, I want that Blackberry Latte one! One of the few from there I haven't tried; I'll get that one next go'round. If you haven't tried the new melon scent yet, it is absolutely a must have.
  19. Gloworm, that 's another reason I would prefer to print and pay online if possible. If they have to weigh the box and stuff, they seem to want to pick every one apart. Is this liquid? blah blah blah. If I take the box in prepaid, about 15 minutes before closing, they just throw it in the bin without even looking at it. So if I feel lucky that day, I prepay; if I don't feel lucky, I pay at the post office.
  20. I have the scalloped one and the heart, and I think mine are aluminum. I've only used them to make embeds for a m&p loaf soap.
  21. Well, when they call it "Delivery Confirmation", one would think that, wouldn't one?
  22. It's not in the recipe section here. ingredientstodiefor.com is a site that sells lotionmaking supplies. This recipe is in their Formulary.
