  1. Okay, I just found out NG is not going to carry the wax I use. It is MP123. I use it for 8oz j.j.. I went to order more when I found out. I read before the the J50 is about as close to this wax as it gets. I know the Bittercreek South sells J50, but I cannot find any other suppliers. All your help will be greatly appreciated. I know I will have to test all over again, but I wanted to get as close to the MP123 as I could. Thanks in advance for your help.

  2. I did my first show of the year yesterday here in my own town and only sold one candle. Candlewitch is right. The woman selling food made a killing. the show I did happens once a month and I was thinking I will probably do more to get to know the people and when they are ready to buy hopefully they will buy from me. I look at it as an advertisement cost. Heck nobody (at least around here) looks in the newspapers for ads so not all was lost.

  3. I think the same thing. In fact I was making twigs and berries yesterday thinking it was from Nature's Garden and it wasn't. I was thinking to myself oh yeah Nature's sells the tayberry and teakwood. Very simimlar if not exactly alike. Didn't know they sold the twigs and berries though.

  4. I purchased some raspberry patchoulli some time back and I cannot remember where I got it from. Today I was able to pick up seperate scents of raspberry and patchoulli and I was wondering how to mix. I do not want the patchoulli to overpower the raspberry, and as strong as patchoulli is I know if I mix half and half that is exactly what is going to happen. Patchoulli will overpower the raspberry. Any ideas? Do you think maybe 3% raspberry, and 2% patchoulli? Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks pat

  5. For my 16 ounce mason jar I sell for $8.00 but if a apothecary it would have to be $11.00-12.00.I "had" those shipped and also the jar costs more. The 16 ounce mason I get at a wholesale place near me and believe me those jars are about the same cost as the 8 ounce JJ.

Finally cost with shipping and having a hard time getting the 16 ounce apothecary to burn good I will stay with the 16 ounce mason. It will sell better and also burn better.

The 8 ounce mason is $5.00 like mentioned above.I also do a 10 ounce classic and love that jar.It is $6.00.Other areas I am sure could get more for it.

same here. I did a craft show a couple weekends ago, and people were selling there's starting at four dollars. and even the ones home interior does for fundraisers were going for five dollars. I'm not sure of the size. I do know they are no smaller than the 8oz. jj. I'm thinking probably the 9oz size. So heck, I thought I was doing good to get $5.00 ea. for mine.

  6. really, they are super. Question....not the sharpest tool yet. What is the modge podge for? Does that seal the can in some way?

well it figures. just moved down a couple threads and I found my answer. This is too cool. I never knew you could do that. This board is so informative.

  7. Fern-Marie:

Well I went to Ocean State Job Lot this morning and they didn't have any stoneware at all. I was so disappointed. The only Asian bowls I could find were ceramic glazed dipping bowls in a set of 4 in 4 different colors...they're kind of nice...I'm just not sure about them yet. I'm testing one of them now to see if they heat up enough on the warmer to melt the entire tart. So far they don't look as though they are conducting heat very well as the sides of the bowl are just barely warm They also look sort of lost on the warmer plate...not sure if these are going to work out. What I really need are some cute stainless steel bowls or short squat tins. I'm still searching. Here's what they look like. I hope these come out clear. Darn...you can't see how nice the interior of the bowl is. But you can get the idea. Do you think this bowl looks lost on the warmer???

    Fern

I like the way it looks. I mean there really isn't anything attractive with the warmer, and this way you just see the bowl and whatever is in it.

  8. Last week our local news reported on a house fire. Tragically, an 18-year old was killed. The cause of the fire ... candles. However, the homeowner's electricity had been shut off and there were over 100 candles burning in this house, reportedly as a source of heat and as a light source. I realize candles can be a potential danger but I still will not stop burning them, any more than I will stop running my furnace, using my BBQ grill, using my stove, burning a fire in my fireplace, etc.

    I second that.

  9. I have to chime in just to say that we all want to beleive our candles are the best. No matter what they are made of. Maybe some of us have every right to beleive that, but certainly some of us really don't. I have to say you opened the door for criticism. Constuctive or not. I think everyone on this board comes here for anything and everything that has to do with candles or bath and body. So, from my experience on this board, people devote alot of time to their craft, and everyone including myself has an opinon. Who is to say I'm right, you're right, the person over there is right? I know I learned a very valuable lesson from this thread.....make sure if you ask for advice be prepared for a wide variety of opinoins, negative and positive. If I can't handle what I consider to be the best of the best criticism about candle making from all who reply on this board, I sure won't ask for it. :o
