  1. I have used this for candles. It will clog your wick. Also, it does give the nice shiny gold, silver or copper you are looking for. The color is actually a flat finish. For candles, I had the best and shiniest finish with the glitter. This was after trying even the candle/soap paint. (I did not like the way it burned.)

    HTH.

  2. This is a pretty common scam and there are tons of threads here relating the same issues, only the names change. I specifically do not do international orders because of these types of scams.

DITTO....and another red flag...someone sending an email to a candle website, asking if you sell candles?

This time of year you will undoubtedly receive a bunch of these type of emails. I receive 1-3 per week. I use the "delete" button. :D

  3. I like the background. I only had time to glance through but the one thing that caught my eye was the duck soap named Monkey Farts. I think it should be renamed...it doesn't "go together". I am diggin that pretty salt bar!

Personally, I wouldn't touch the name. It's a kid's soap and definitely a name to draw attention. Sales may increase with this product as a novelty. Be sure to make one customers can smell, as some may be apprehensive at first. I carry Monkey

Farts, Butt Naked, Lick Me All Over, Bacon and Campfire Smoke. I wouldn't change the names of any. ....too many sales.

  4. Welcome, Michelle.

And ditto on the fragrance oil. I have had this problem myself in the past. Great to know that is still something to look forward to in the near future! :(

I must also add about the waxes. I have ordered wax and used the same wax for 10 years. This last shipment was different. At first I thought I was losing my mind....different look, feel, texture and different end product. But after reading some posts, I know it is not me. I actually had different lot/batch numbers and compared the wax. BIG DIFFERENCE. My supplier is very willing to work with me to make this right. But meanwhile the orders keep coming in! Pretty scary when something that has to follow a certain manufacturing code can end up so very different.

    SCARRRYYYY!

  5. We bought several cases of 4794 at C&S in March. Except for it being a little cloudy - which we aren't used to - our pours and repours appear to be the same as the old batch. The burn, scent throw, etc. has not changed - still good.

Please keep us updated - there is nothing worse than being in the busy season and noticing that something has changed!

I also experienced the "cloudiness" with the new cases. The wax feels different also. It almost feels like the high melt 150-160 Votive Blend. Great....more issues!!

  6. How do these work...doesn't the wax make a mess in the fireplace?

I have never had a problem with this, nor has anyone ever mentioned this as a problem. The instructions I provide are to put down a few logs, add the firestarters, then top with another once firestarters are lit. In my cases (and I use them all winter long) the wax goes into the wood. They work great for me...better than the store bought "bricks" and are much cheaper!

    HTH.

  7. I also add wicks to mine...left over, unknown, loose wicks. Pretty much what goes into my firestarters is scrap wax, etc. When I start a fire, I want it to start asap....that is why I use wicks rather than having them just light the paper.

  8. You have to be very careful when purchasing EZ up tents.

We have purchased several EZ UPs in the past. The last round of 3 had the leaking roofs. Apparently EZ UP had received many other calls from customers. AFter about my 4th call to them, they replaced all of my tops free of charge. I just had to show them proof of ownership with a receipt. The ones I purchased were the $199 type.

We close our tents up with the roof coverings on...however they bolt on,so it would be a pain to remove each week! HTH

  9. These all sound like great ideas. In addition to handing out your merchandise/cards/samples, you may want to let them sign up for a mailing list (with maybe free shipping for first time orders?).

Also what I have found to be very beneficial, walk around and personally introduce yourself to each of the vendors. Be prepared to take some time for this. If you can have someone to watch your booth, you won't need to "rush." You can also provide them with a card...and take on of theirs. This way they can put a name to a face and the relationship becomes more personable. Then after the event, be sure to follow up.

I have made some great friends and business opportunities this way.

    Good luck!!

  10. You can put silk flowers in gel candles which are like the forever candles in which the gel which is embedded with the flowers does not have a wick in it AND as long as the wick will not get near them.

You will need to test the flowers, though, as some of the coloring can "bleed" into the gel over time or if you pour too hot.

  11. Mmmm....just found Maple & Brown Sugar over at Peak's...anybody have any reviews on it? I've never ordered from them before but have been meaning to forever!

    Melany

I just ordered and tried the Maple & Brown Sugar from Peaks (since I, too, am looking for a true Maple Sugar.) I gotta say I did not like it. It was an interesting, VERY strong fragrance, but not what I am looking for. The "after smell" reminded me of bacon. HTH.

  12. This is only my 2nd complaint and both were over tart burners (Lavine) I no longer order from them:sad2:

Unfortunately I recently ordered from them with a lot of damaged items....about 1/3 of my order. I have never had problems in the past...and they took care of my complaints this time also. I will order from them again. But I did learn to check the light/bulb, body, heat plate on each one to make sure they work. I do this with all the warmers I buy. You never know.

  13. I received a phone call from this woman this morning. She said she got my card from someone, but couldnt remember who. She proceeded to tell me about this company called CandleWealth. She sounded quite confused and unsure of herself about this company. She wants me to join her and try and make a go of this. To me it sounds like a pyramid gimmick. This is the site www.candlewealth.com Let me know what you think Thanks

Go with your gut feeling....It is usually always right!:grin2:

  14. I asked a similar question to my insurance agent. She said that if a candle explodes and catches a home on fire. The home owner usually goes after the store the candle was purchased. Then the stores insurance goes after the candle co. business for the loss. It is like a trickle down effect to the source, so I highly recommend if you don't have insurance, you better get it. It will be well worth it.

Ditto....and the cost of the insurance is not that much compared to the peace of mind you will have (maybe  )
